It’s perfectly doable in a day. The biggest climb is at the beginning, with some shorter up and downs along the ridge. If you do it in the summer when days are long you can take breaks and take it steady.

Hello from Malvern, glad you enjoyed your hike. I have been lucky enough to have had the hills as part of my play ground for most of my life.back in the 80s my secondary school used to march us over the hills just 10 miles for sponsorships, we loved it. Interesting that you should mention 'Starfish' sites. Apparently these often did attract a lot of enemy bombs. In a book 'The Secret War' by Brian Johnson there is an account of this and many other cunning ploys. The author explained that a common configuration employed a network of perforated pipes that dribbled fuel oil around the site. In addition, there was a second network of water pipes and sprinklers, feed from a cistern that had a typical municipal toilet flushing mechanism. An operator, who was stationed in an underground bunker nearby, would light the Starfish burners when required, and would periodically flush the loo now and again. The water would cause the fires to flare up in a most convincing way. One particularly successful night occurred on March 16th 1941 when 300 bombs fell on the Downside site near Bristol. Apparently, it was said that the duty wasn't very popular! I like to imagine the likes of Corporal Jones and Private Pike, huddled in a bunker, amid the dust and smoke, arguing about whose turn it was to flush the loo.

    • @outandabout-
