Review of Astrantia Major 'Roma' in Zone 4b
A sturdy, attractive plant. The flowers are pretty, though the color of the flower is somewhat muted. Perhaps that gives it an understated look (a good thing, to some).
This plant has been recommended by legendary gardener, Piet Oudolf.

Hard pruning mature hydrangea paniculata 'Quick Fire'

I hard pruned our hydrangea paniculata down to 18" high. This is a mature plant that had reached 5' high in the prior growing season. The plant responded great to the hard prune.
Carex flacca 'Blue Zinger' sedge

Carex flacca is a great option for large, difficult sites especially for folks growing in a colder zone. I am in Zone 4b/5a Minneapolis, MN. How to access fuel pump on 2007 Toyota Yaris
Переглядів 1 тис.Рік тому
One day in the dead of our Minnesota winter, my trusty Yaris did not start. I tried a couple of fixes (changed spark plugs, and changed all ignition coils to no avail. In the end, changing out the fuel pump and the fuel pressure regulator got the Yaris back in action. You could just buy the entire fuel pump housing assembly, rather than buying one or two of the constituent parts. That would be ...

FREE fix for American Standard Champion flush valve seal

Harbor Freight mini pick and hook set: cutt.ly/Zh82FVQ If you have a "phantom flush" occurring on your American Standard Champion toilet, the culprit could be a malfunctioning blue gasket. By poking into the bubbles, the ridge...
How to fix a popping, cracking door hinge
Переглядів 15 тис.4 роки тому
Ever since we painted our bathroom door white, the top hinge has made a loud popping (or cracking) sound upon opening and closing. The sound always occurred when the door was at about halfway open. I mistakenly thought it was an issue of lubrication on the hinge. But the issue was the hinge plate not sitting flush with the door frame. I used a chisel to carve away excess wood and paint in the d...

Does it matter which direction that stopper valve goes into the tub?

    • @blacksmith67
      @blacksmith67 2 місяці тому

Yes. If you put it in backwards it will probably stop water going in the direction you want it to. It looks like a check valve, basically a way of letting water flow in only one direction.

Thanks for helpful info. First was to open bottom with tiny torx which I somehow had in L-shape like typical allen wrench. The hose you recommended came promptly. Helps to wet the hose to install. Use long needle-nose pliers or similar grabber to force on the flexible tubing down in the hole. Had to carefully cut loose the ball valve from the old hose. Only my shorter hose had split open so I didn’t take the challenge of replacing the long hose. Thx.

Hi. I haven't been able to find anyone who's had issues with the coffee in the pot that's just steaming waaay too much, and won't even stop after you pour it in a cup. Any idea what this means? Thanks.

The screws are indeed T10, but you need an extended length “security bit” to remove them. Harbor Freight sells a green pro set for less than 10 dollars.

Key tip Mike provides: you don’t have to disassemble all the hoses. If your machine is gurgling and steaming but won’t brew much, try pulling the hose just off the reservoir nipple. Blow and suck gently until you dislodge whatever is blocking the check valve. When it breaks loose, you won’t be able to draw much air by sucking. Mine was chunk of bean that got drawn into the valve. This video saved me $$$! Thanks!

It’s not obvious at all. That’s what our doors are doing in our brand new home and I have suggested that to the worker who came to fix our door problems. He insists that can’t be the issue and won’t try it, and that’s his job.

Thank You Mike, You helped me solve my problem I watched a few videos and much to my surprise nothing has helped me until I watched your video I did like most people I ran out and bought 2 gallons of white distilled vinegar with no results.however after I watched your video I was able to fix the problem quickly. By the way I purchased my Cuisinart coffee maker at a local thrift store and paid only $3.00 because they said it didn't work but I was able to fix the problem thanks to you. I give you 10 thumbs up for a job well done.

FYI for others with similar issues...Our Cuisinart Model#DGB-900BC is leaking from under the steel brace, where it crosses the aluminum u-shaped heating element (same design), not from the silicone tube itself. From the expansion of the aluminum the brace going across it wore holes into the aluminum tube. My husband placed pieces of silicone sheet between the brace and aliminum. So far so good.

Just found the same problem on my DGB-900BC after only 3.5 years usage. I applied J-B Weld to the wear area. Fingers crossed that it holds after heated up. Won't know until after another 6 hours of curing.

This video is super helpful; thank you! Ours has been going strong for 12 years, and just started leaking. I just clicked on your link to purchase the silicone tubing, and it's unavailable on Amazon, even though it was only a month ago you posted this. Any ideas? I see other silicone tubing on Amazon that is 9mm x 12mm. Do you think that would suffice?

Thank you Earl! It wasn't obvious to me. For I don't even want to say how long, I have been annoyed by my bedroom middle door hinge. I oiled it multiple times, I tightened screws, I took a screw out that wouldn't tighten propped a piece of toothpick in one of the holes to make it tighten...nothing. Your very short and to the point video was just what I needed.

Thanks for tip. I went to Harbor Freight and purchased the Pittsburgh bolt extractor set and solved my problem with a rounded lug nut guys at Discount Tire torqued way beyond proper Ft Lb. Took this extractor and a 25" breaker bar to loosen. Not the first time this has happened with Discount Tire even though they go through the motions of using a torque wrench.

I'm getting this set then tomorrow from HF, apparently the Incredible Hulk decided to power torque my oil drain plug into my Chrysler Pacifica & I stripped it trying to get it out with box end of combo wrench & then worse with socket & wrench. Jiffy Lube will never touch one of my cars again after this foolishness. Oil drain plug doesn't need to be cranked so tight that one needs a breaker bar to get it out, I hate Jiffy Lube now, after this stress, haha.
