The State of Multi Console Clones in 2018
Переглядів 4,2 тис.6 років тому
There are many game console clones out there for NES, SNES and Genesis/Mega Drive. Let's have a look at single-chip clones, emulation based clones and FPGA systems, and compare them.
Ninja Town is so addicting. I thought the art style suggested it was just for babies, but no, there is good strategy to be had here!
Zaku was developed using BLL homebrew development kit. It’s a shame it’s so difficult to acquire legitimately. The game looks good, but I do suspect it looks better than it plays.
great vid
warlocked is super good. i've beaten it like 20 times
cool vid, whats the game at 1:35? looks like cyberpunk
Timestamp 0:00 intro 1:01 Age of Empires The age of kings (Ds) & Mythologies (Ds). 1:45 The Settlers (Ds) 2:44 Robocalypse 4:05 Command and Destroy (original GBA game with Three Worms factions). 6:25 & 7:25 Lego Battles + Ninjago 8:23 & 9:30 Anno 1701 + Anno Create a New World 10:58 Other honorable mentions like Starlite, Ninjatown and Lock's Quest 12:15 What do You think? 3ds, psp, psp-vita and 2ds-xl as rts games.
The real problem I had with RTS games on DS was the lack of a left-handed mode. Just too awkward.
I remember playing Anno 1404 on my DS. I had a NA copy and so I always thought that it was just called Dawn of Discovery. Looking back, 1404 for the DS seems to be better than 1701 for the DS.
Those were the times 😂 thank you for the video!
That's why I had Borland Sidekick TSR installed [using the text editor] ;)
why is so many RTS based on JRPG series ??? Final Fantasy XII, Hereos of Mana and YS Tactis.
completely missed lost magic ds
I remember ctrl-B very well!!😂
Great topic and overview! I wasn't aware of the LGOP one in particular. I'm glad you touched on the Star Wars bosskey, that remains the most involved and feature-rich one I've ever seen.
no ff xii and blue dragon eh
The review I've been chasing. So it does play Duck Hunt! I can't believe how many so-called "retro gamers" have a zillion consoles but don't have a CRT -- not even a little 15" thing -- so they can't test light guns. I wonder if it can play any cheap Chinese NES flash carts on aliexpress?
hello, do you know if cartridges of the original japanese famicon |(not super famicon) works in this console? thank you very much
Should work with a 60 to 72 pin converter (a famicom adapter). But not natively. There is no 60-pin cart slot.
I hope to find Age of Both. They look most promising. Found The Settlers as my 3rd game and it's horrible. No tutorial no idea as I only got the cartridge, no case or book from it.
I've played anno create a new World and AOE-AOK when I was 6 or 7 years old I remember everything I bought AOE-AOK a few days ago and I will definitively buy anno too Just to get my nostalgia back up
you missed the Square Enix game FF XII revenant wings
and lost magic
Is possibe to save in anytime?
Age of empires, the age of kings is one of my most played DS titles. The campaigns, ranking and unlockables were amazing and addictive. This was the game that actually got me into (turn based as well al real time )strategy games as a kid.
Another memory, the Sierra King's Quest series started with grid based animation. Your character would be within a single screen, and walk off the screen, you would load into the next adjacent screen. Running on a Tandy 1000, the screen draw would draw the secrets first, and then overlay the terrain. It was so easy to see where the secrets were because of the slow CPU.
Sierra had a pile of great games, for the CPU available at that time. I still have a Leisure Suit Larry towel that is very faded, so I will not wash it again. That game starting at 1:33 (I cannot remember the name) was fantastic. On a 286 the audio and video were separate because of the CPU limitations, but run it on a 386 and the audio and animation were in sync. Very excellent developers.
Thats crazy i had 2/3 of these
as many said before this is the best review on the console, even if it is the eu ver and i am in the na market. i watched this too late tho as i bought it thinking its perfectly fine for sfc carts after watching other reviews... found out the hard way and i am now nervous to use sfc cart on it. otherwise I still like this a lot. mainly use it on a cheap 43 inch hdtv, but it gives a different retro vibe when connected to my 10 inch portable dvd player thru composite. thanks for the great review!
Really enjoyed this pair of videos, but they were also genuinely useful. There’s something so incongruent about an RTS on a handheld that I find the notion weirdly fascinating. Bought a 2ds recently & I’ve been looking for games like this to play on it. You gave me a heads up for at least three that I now own. Couple of minor omissions from your DS list that might be of interest to you (both of which I found while conducting my own search) - Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings and Heroes of Mana. They’re two strange little offshoot titles from big RPG franchises that released RTS games in the flavour of their respective universes. I haven’t played either, but apparently although each is a legitimate RTS, both are so simple (and easy) in that capacity that you’d probably need to be a fan of the series in question to really find them enjoyable. From what I gathered Revenant Wings is likely the better of the two. Might pick up a second hand copy of either if I happen upon a very cheap one.
Oh, and for whatever it’s worth, I found one more RTS on the system (also RPG themed, so to speak) Blue Dragon Plus. So that’s three of this odd little sub genre. Curious.
In the unlikely event that anyone ever reads this (and the even more unlikely event that they find any interest in it)… I found two more of the bastards! Two! *Both* of them (like the games I mentioned above) are “real time strategy role playing games”, and both of them are part of a wider RPG franchise / property. The other two are: •Lost Magic (2006) and •Ys Strategy (2006) Actually I also found a handful of other DS RTS games, but it seems a bit pointless listing them here since I’m probably just effectively talking to myself (but it felt wrong not to add these two DS RTS RPG games to the others). BYEEE!
After much troubleshooting I can finally get the game to launch and run but it is running at about 3X speed??? Any tips to fix this?
I played The Settlers, Anno 1701, Anno Create A New World, Sims 3, Age of empires : the Age of Kings and many more. I LOVE STRATEGY GAMES! They were all amazing games, I still play some of em.
The best game in this video is Lock's Quest. While it is a tower defense game, it feels like an RTS while you are playing the combat phase.
I actually still have Mech Platoon. Gonna try it once I finish charging up my DS Lite
That is exactly the video that I have been looking for after getting Nintendo DS. You helped me so much in getting to know what I want to buy! :) Cheers!!
Awesome RTS video. It's amazing you found some DS games actually worth playing😄. And the editing was really well done. I hope you get some more subscribers. You could become a really big youtuber👍
Good series. Can you do handheld turn based RPG pls. thanks
Good series. Can you do handheld turn based RPG pls
0:23 is this from a actual game it looks familiar
I have this and aside from the power switch not working once it's great I'm getting into old nes and snes fantasy rpg and shmup games and this was a no-brainer cost wide as buying the old consoles and upgrading to HDMI would have been out of the question I may still buy a retro 5 at a later date but only for the game boy option and the translation patch ability 🤗
Theres was a mana game on ds that was strategy based and I remember playing it a lot. And a final fantasy 12 for the ds and never got to play but know of that is a strategy one as well.
Hello guys, I have a N8 nes cartridge but It seems it's not working with this console. Do you know what kind of NES flashcart works in this console? Cheers
Thanks for making these videos, just what I needed
I have the black and blue one and sfc cart does not fit.
Do you want a good rts handheld? Origo Prologue and Warfare Incorporated for PalmOs/Tapwave Zodiac games.
I had a cd with a bunch of games including this one another one called acter world (akuta warudo) idk if its from the same developer, it was soo hard to find, anyway now i have the exe file and everything it just wont open even in my winxp virtual machine
This video has so much nostalgia for me, I used to play so many rts games on the ds
Warlocked has The Sequal But was Cancelled after that.
Ant nation is another good ds rts game
Good video bud, are you still active?
I remember there was an RTS game on DS where you controlled an army of plankton-like creatures as they fought evil variants of their own species. I don't remember much about the game other than really liking it's art-style; where most characters had a transparent outer layer with a smaller, opaque structure inside of them.
Wow warlock game sounds awesome Is warlock on pc??
Anno is such a wonderful game
