I miss Homer so much

Thank you very much for showing us these beauties.
great places
I had no idea this was a thing. I literally cannot fish any other way, so I've been left behind for years because I always got in trouble. And I live in Alaska and never knew.... I cannot wait to find it this year!!!!
There are rules and regs as to where you can do it so be sure to investigate so you don't get into trouble. Happy fishing!
@sqwatchdogadvantures8474 It's why I don't go fishing 😞 I haven't been fishing in 20 years because I couldn't manage to catch a fish any other way. But thanks for the reminder!

How was the drive from Skagway to Whitehorse? We’re going on an Alaska Cruise will be Skagway from 5:30am until 8:30pm. I’m thinking about renting a car to drive that route and back as a fun day trip.
The drive out of Skagway is breath taking. It’s the most spectacular drive we’ve done so far.
Snagging for salmon??? Insane
Hard to believe it’s legal but it is in some salt waters in Alaska
Real sportsmen don’t consider that actually fishing
I can see what you are saying. But it is legal in salt water in some areas of Alaska and it is a form of harvest as is gill netting and any other means of reaping the benefits of our yummy fish. We eat our fish. It is legal and not unethical as a result. It is a form of harvest plain and simple. My husband is a sportsman when he fishes and always plays by the rules. The limit for snagging is 6 and he kept one and we ate it for dinner.
This is legal?
In Alaska as long as you aren't in the river.
My dream place to visit as an outdoorsman myself.
You should. It's beautiful.
Thanks for this video! It brings back memories of our trip up the Cassiar to the Dempster Hwy. We didn't have time to take the Telegraph Creek road, so I appreciate your sharing the views. Warm regards!
Nice video. Great area to travel. I've been through a few times now but have not driven to Telegraph Creek yet. I'm retiring in a few years and plan on spending a few months in the area. I have spent time at Dease lake, Meziadin lake, and Boya lake, but really Looking forward to taking it slow and seeing the whole area.
The Cassiar Highway has so much to offer. So glad we decided to take the route and decided to take our time by heading towards Telegraph Creek. Congrats on your pending retirement.
I checked out when you said you took the van to Camping World.
Why don’t you like camping world? They actually fixed a leak we had under our seat and called Winnebago to complain about the bad part and Winnebago covered it. I was happy with their service.
Planning to do FL to AK (our second trip) leaving in about a month. Our trip will take four months and being it's our second we are definitely better prepared. Just a few comments on your video. The Milepost comes with a free digital version. Suggest you get it (you can download it as a PDF to an ipad or computer). I would plan to exchange some money when you enter Canada. From our last experience, about 95% of the camp grounds we stayed at charge for showers. Ditch the mosquito repellent device - useless. Preventive maintenance is great - but regarding tires I would suggest a full size spare and matching rim. We pull a small tear drop and it's spare along with the spare for our tow were smaller - I upgraded both to full size, matching rims. I would contact your insurance company and let them know you are going to be in remote areas of Alaska - meaning if you need a tow it's going to be a lot further than 12-20 miles. Along the Alaska Highway some of the gas stations were remote (no physical attendant) or suspect, so I would suggest getting a Mastercard/Visa prepaid cards (not a gift card) that you use solely for fuel. If it gets compromised, you still have your normal cc. I would also have adequate hard currency in the event you fill up and the site has lost internet. When you process through the border I "think" I remember we got a stamp on some documents (we had our pet paperwork along with the paperwork for a shotgun - the only weapon you can carry across the border). Each time we crossed the border we showed our passports and paperwork with the stamp and were processed through quickly. You will definitely be without cell coverage on portions of the ALCAN - we carry a weboost to boost our cell but we also have a Garmin InReach for satellite communication. We get a basic plan that allows a number of text messages per billing cycle. We also activated the tracker so our family can log into our Garmin website and see our location. Where this is double important is we left a CC number with our daughter. In the event of a break down, we can use the InReach to contact her and she in turn contacts a tow company. All that we spoke to say they require a CC number before they roll. This communication also provides her with our gps location. Of course if we have cell we do this ourselves but again there are long (days) where we had none. Lastly, the ALCAN is dirty and on our first adventure we got warning lights that none of our vehicle sensors were working. Basically, they were all covered in grime. We had small bucket and from a nearby stream collected water and washed off the bumpers (sensors). My wife is a big flamingo fan, so if you see a rig with flamingos come on over and say hi.
I wonder if the bell is to warn off Bigfoot and bears that something is coming. First time I have seen it done.
Beautiful!
This is God's country for sure
Good crossing, eh?
Yah, sure ya betcha, We had a great crossing, eh. Super nice guy from border patrol
hmmm I gave you a thumbs up and it does not show.... The thumb is marked but no number on the counter....
That's okay. I'll count you in.
Nice camera pan at the lake! Travel safe!! Nice dog too!!! Good by Rykyr!!
He is a nice dog. Comes from the best. 🙂
So beautiful there. On your way back you should check out the wine tasting around Kamloops. Be sure you choose one that has ice-wine on the tour. You won't regret it. 😊
That sounds yummy.
Personally, I don't think there is a real need for this. I have camped many times under freezing temperatures in my Revel and I have never had a freezing issue. It is a metal cage so, no matter how much insulation you use, you are still going to have a lot of cold metal parts inside the van, just because they are part of the outside of the van too. The only issue we usually had is the pump shutting down at lower temperatures, you can see nothing is frozen, but I think there is a thermostat that won't let the pump run under certain temperatures, once it goes back up it works just fine. Also, the garage heating fans are supposed to get air from under the galley, moving cold air from the bottom of the sliding door through the heating system and to the garage. You sealed all that part and I believe this is going to reduce efficiency in your heating system. Also, it seems you covered the pipes with wool, I think that may backfire as they are now basically insulated from the warm air inside the van and the wool will capture all the cold coming from the bottom of the van. Same thing with the pipes under the shower, there are some vents there to let warm air get in there and it looks like you are preventing this to happen by covering them with wool. In my experience using USB fans is the best thing to do, point them to rear water panel vent and another to the bottom of the sliding door, also, point a third one to the revel windscreen/dashboard area, you should be doing this anyways to help with condensation. Also, cover the windows, that is by far the largest heat loss in the van. With the windshield we use the inside shades and an external cover as well. just my 2 cents.
@@joseverdugo8643 thanks.
Hi. We're foodies and use our Instapot, like you a different induction top, air fryer, and tea kettle. That's about it, and the air fryer is a must, as is the Instapot. Induction burner is the workhorse. Small George Foreman just got off loaded cuz never was being used. Thanks for your insights.
I would love to have an air fryer. I just don't know where to put it. Where do you store yours?
@sqwatchdogadvantures8474 We have an air fryer soft carrying case and keep it in our garage. Purchased the Amazon bench seat storage boxes (about $50 each) that are situated on each side of the garage. Clothes and stuff in one, easy access for the small cooking aplliance in the other. Monster Box keeps the garage aisle semi empty.
@@willieronk7094 Which air fryer did you buy? Can you send me a link?
@sqwatchdogadvantures8474 Hi. I tried to send a link, but it's a dud. We have the Bella Pro Series 2 quart Analog Air Fryer. Around $25 retail.
