There is nothing in this interview that would have him come off as narrow minded. If traditional archery is about using a stick with a string to shoot an arrow at a target live or inanimate, Jeff has proven to be an incredible trad archer and has taken many hours out his daily life to simply help others improve their form and aim with his suggestions.

You measure between the string Knox. And if the bow is curved, then add that length to your ASO measurement by pressing the measuring tape to the belly of the bow to account for the curves. Good luck with it.

I had joined the PBS as an Associate Member in the early 70's. I looked forward to the PBS newsletter/ magazine and read every line in it. I always enjoyed Monty's articles among other archers. I knew that I would be able to go on adventures like them I could go on their adventures thru their writing. Listening to Monty, we had a lot in common. I shot my first deer in the Fall of 1970. My first purchased bow was a Bear takedown in 1973 or 74. My first compound bow was also a Bear Alaskan. We both met people that had a great influence on us. I went to train to be a bowhunter education instructor in NY in 1975. I set down to a fellow that I had never met before. This man was Wayne Trimm. As we got to know each other, I found out that he was a Senior member of Pope and Young. Other men I met like Bruce Jenson, Colby Hansen, Mike Neal, And Howard Lewis helped me greatly. They showed me what it was to be a traditional bowhunter. It is not just hunting with a long or recurve bow but a way of life. It was part of who you were. The never bragged about themselves, shared their adventures with just a few friends, and always were eager to help in any way. The have all passed away now but I have all their stories written down in my journals. As I write this, I look at the bow that I took my first deer with and a shelf of journals ( over 6000 pages ) , old photos, broken arrows, and game taken. I have only shared these things so dear to me with a very few. Another item that we have in common is, we are both the same age, we both live in NC, And we continue to hunt with the same old equipment and enjoy every moment.
