The dude who taught Bam how to fight is a extremely powerful high ranker who would cause a stir on the entire floor if he where to engage in the workshop battle at all, one of the things you got to realize is FUG has many factions, there is a faction that wants to let Bam live and do what he wants as long as he shows no sign of weakness and another faction led by some slayers who feel like he should be turned into a weapon, there's also a lot of eyes on this tournament so its not very wise for FUG to blatantly make big moves and put more attention on themselves... its the main reason that none of their rankers got involved and slaughtered everyone because if they did bigger heads will get involved and it will turn into a whole mess so they got to play their cards right behind the scenes to turn the tides in their favor... this arc is very much about who can "outplay" the other better and get their desired outcome

Worst case scenario it’ll just infuse the devil that’s inside Bam with the thorn so it could be usable by one of the slayers or B. Bam and the devil melt into the thorn and the thorn is not only able to ignite but since it has Bam’s soul infused with it which is also the soul of a irregular it has the possibility to cancel out the 10 great family heads and Jahads contract of not being able to be killed by regulars
