What exactly is TDS? Experiment showing how everything effects it.
What is TDS? Total Dissolved Solids is something that isn’t talked about much but is extremely important to keeping a healthy tank.
In this video, I talk about what it is, how to test it, what is too high and too low, how to lower it if needed and I do a little experiment to demonstrate how everything you put in your tank changes the TDS.

Do you need a heater in your fish tank? YES!
Переглядів 6633 роки тому
In my opinion, every tank needs a heater. Even the small ones! My little nano tank at my sisters house has a nano heater. The purpose of a heater isn’t just to warm the water. Its to keep the water temperature at a steady temperature. Having a temperature that fluctuates can really damage your aquarium ecosystem including forming ICK! Excerpt from my recent video. See it in full here: ua-cam.co...

I may try this today. I have a 37 gallon with 2 smaller mbunas, and a blue gourami. It's odd that the gourami was dominant, at first, but now, both of my little mbunas chase after him, from time to time. He's bigger than both of them; I just think that he hasn't reached his limit of tolerance, yet? 🤷‍♂ But, I'm pretty sure that introducing maybe 4 or 5 tiger barbs might very well make the difference ... and calm the atmosphere in my tank.

Really enjoyed the tiger barb & A cich video. My tank of 9 TB an 7 cich red claw coolie loach is sick. Acrylic 45 hex black sand serpentine obsidian base with paper thin flat rock has countless caves and tunnel system with 7-8 layers of flat rock stacks creates hide outs and the fish can retreat and rest. The fish are happy.. Active and entertaining ..

Had 9 tiger barbs in with 2 small African cichlids for a year, but recently I believe the cichlids killed 2 of the green tiger barbs. Do I need more cichlids or more barbs? Do green barbs not work the same like regular tiger?

They can live much longer than 2/3 years . Most will live to at least 5 and I've seen some that were 8 years old . I guess it all depends on how well they are cared for.

I know this comment is old. Did you do that? I have done that and it can be done. My dad has lots of tiger barbs + 2 angelfish + lots of tigers in a 39 bow. Me, I have a 20 regular that has 2 angels + 4 tigers + 2 black skirt tetra + 4 white skirt tetra + a red fin shark + 1 stripe catfish + 4 red fin tetras. We both use a canister filter rated at 50 gallons. I clean my tank monthly. My dad cleans his every 3 weeks.
