3D Printed Mechanical Iris Box - Version 1.0
Mein erstes Projekt mit meinem neuen BambuLab X1C. Super Design - vielen Dank.
Doorkbob
What glue is that? Can I have the name pls
JB Weld Plastic Bonder. It's really easy to work with and sets quickly
@@RoccosStuff thank you, so it set in 15 mins time and cure in 30 mins or faster than that for PLA and PETG?
@@hobbes3012 it still takes 15-30 minutes with PLA/PETG
@@Rocco-bm9cf thanks, I hate my current liquid super glue, once it touch my finger, it bond immediately! Trying to find a 2nd version of it.
Again, incredible design and so well explained.
Thank you!
So cool!!! Great job with this one. Off to print it now…
so beautifully designed. You are an engineer I presume?
Thanks! I'm not an engineer, I'm an architect. Lots of overlap, but very different 🥸
This is awesome any chance you could create one that I can drop a handful of change in at a time and it self sorts. When I come home from work I'm tired and this would bring me to an open beer in front to the tv faster.. lol Your prints are fun to print and also fun to assemble keep up the hard work. Thanks
Nice one amigo. (And thank you, algo.) Subbed. xoxo
This guy man.... is going to make me spend money cuz no have to buy a bundle of filament.
Please accept my apology 😏
You could print some rubber feet to make that part of the official design.
Printed it. Love the design. Much cooler way to give my brother money for Christmas. Really good tollerences. Not to big that it feels sloppy and not so small that the parts dont fit. Also found silicon grease (like what is udes for the 3d printer) worked really well in the lock mechanism so that the leavers moved nicely.
What kind of glue are you using? The little tubes are handy. The gel doesn't run out all over the place.
Jb Weld Steel Epoxy. I recently switched to JB Weld Plastic Bonder, which sets much faster.
what glue do you use please paste link :D
It's Gorllia Glue Superglue, but i recently switched to JB weld plastic bonder and it's much better than super glue
Couldn't figure out how to attach the center knob. It slides into the gears but doesn't stay in
have you thought of combining a wooden box with a printed door so not use much filament ?????
do you have the STL for the rubber feet
Great model. but does anyone have issue with the model and the 5mm diameter steel dowels? the holes are pretty much around 4mm. The 5mm dowels recommended in the description page don't fit. I figure the model is 80% shrunk. Maybe this is the reason.
Very cool! Do you know roughly how much filament you used?
Pretend that you have lost your key and call the locksmith that you need a key replacement for the safe and let see the locksmith's reaction...😂😂🤣🤣
just great
Been looking fir something just like this and got super pumped and printed everything out. But boy oh boy, my printer must need some serious calibration because i literally cant get past the first step. How many times ive heard you say "putting the lock together is very easy, the parts just stack starting with thr bolt" and my bolt just doesn't go in lol. Ive deburrer ir so much it's still too tight to turn with the key, and the parts after that are no better. Will try and tune and reprint because i really would like to be able to print this.
Did you design this? If so can you make one that you can dump coins into a funnel
I love it! Printing now!
Thanks!
*looks at channel name* Just don't make a basilisk, ok?
I had to use Google to understand this comment, and now I know too much. Thanks a lot... (And I can't promise I won't make a basilisk)
Absolutely brilliant design mate, I am going to get the files now 👍🇦🇺😊
Thanks!!
Really cool. I printed one of the older designs and it worked great.
This is fantastic! 😮 I am going to try it right away!
Thanks! Good luck, please share a photo when you're done!
I love seeing the iterative changes with your vault designs! I printed your last one but might have to do this one, too.
Thanks!
It looks like you got texture on all sides of the pieces, unless I'm seeing it incorrectly?
Not all sides are textured, only the faces that touch the build plate (because I printed on a textured sheet). All other faces are the standard, smooth finish
@RoccosStuff thanks for the reply! Must just be my eyes playing tricks on me. Looks like a fun print!
You should send it to that guy from LockingPickLawyer :D Awesome design , I loved it.
Thank you! I'm sure he could pick the lock in no time, but maybe I'll send him one just for fun 🤣 I'm working on a much more pick-proof lock for my next project, so that may be a better option
@RoccosStuff awesome!! Looking forward to see the new project!!
"Click on one, nothing on two, 3 and four seem to be spools"
Amazingly well made, both the project and the video itself!
Thanks!!
Another one of your amazing creations I now will be making 😅
Thanks! Good luck on the build, share some photos when you're done!
Well, you did it again. Looks like I'll have to print my FIFTH Rocco vault now!
Lol thanks, I think you have the record for most prints. I really appreciate the support!!
Amazing job making one fully printed!! More glue than I was hoping to see, but seems unavoidable in many parts.
Thanks! It has a bit more glue than I had hoped, but it's a balance between glue and support, so I prioritize avoiding support material as much as possible....
Very cool! Amazing how all the parts are 3D printed!
Thanks!
Wow! This is amazing! I am glad that you found a way to make it with less friction and no metal dowels. Thanks for sharing! I am definitely going to make one of these!!!!
Thanks! It's been a goal for a while to make one without dowels, and I'm very happy with the result. Best of luck making your own, and please share a photo when you're done!
Shewee you put some time into this gem. Good for you! Thanks Rocco!!
Thanks!!
So dope! I love Rocco's Stuff!
Thanks JrBcnChz
What glue are you using? It doesn't look like super glue. Great video. Keep up the good work.
Thanks! It's JB Weld plastic bonder. It sets pretty quickly and is easy to work with
Does it leave a white residue like super glue?
@cowabungacreation no, it doesn't leave any white residue, which is one of the big reasons I like it. And it is more viscous, so it's easier to apply accurately (and to clean off if it gets where it shouldn't)
This is pretty good, but after unlocking the door, nothing can move the fence back to the right position it seems
I’m having a hard time figuring out what size of dowel goes where
How do I know where the inserts go and what ones to use
Very cool project. Sharing some of my experience on projects, sand cavities work great vs. buying weights. Sand is insanely cheap. Just 3D print a small box (or I have used sand bags the same way you used weights) to add weight to a project. If you make a sand "box" you can seal it and then just put it into the project. I like your usage of the steel pins, I will def be using that in some future designs of my own. Have you considered adding some LED lights to this project? It would be really neat to have that back gearing lit up with a few LED's. Since this is more about the project and results vs. security It would be a really neat way to expand the project into a more artistic piece. Well done though I loved everything about this project and your approach. The assembly (while many parts) is exactly the kind of pro level thinking in 3D printing. I see too many projects out there with complex parts. You nailed it. Great work!
But, but, what if I wanted to change the combination of the lock like a key in the back to change the combination? 😂😂🤣🤣😒😒
Hi, I saw your video almost three weeks ago, decided to take a risk, I d/l your files and used Crealty software to convert the code, I started with the teeth gear x 4, side slider x 2, top and bottom slider also, backplate door. Things didn't do well, the few studs on backplate door did broke, Also the gears didn't turns well. so my Daughter asked me to use Elegoo software and I had to reprint, it did go well with small sandings, then the box, coin slide and chute and few other items. It did went well and it was worth it. My small headache is the JB Weld that smells like a poop. I also bought the nylon bearings, not alloy one. When installing the door parts, I had to go through a few items making sure the mechanism goes smooth without hic-cup, and everything went good. I had to order 5 by 30 mm dowel from Amazon. I was pleased with your incredible talents on design and things. Thank you!
Awesome design! Accompanied by a song made in the 9th circle of hell.
🤣
Can I get the file for the acrylic cover, so I can print my own
Sure. Can you send me a message on Printables or Makerworld?
Really nice. Love it Super fun Be proud and show it off but hold it tight so no one tries to ruin off with it 😂
🤣
send one to the lockpicking lawyer xD
