BRRRRRRAAAAAA…. I snagged one akule, after like 10 seconds. The weight went drop and reel started screaming haha. Hook set was solid. One treble to the mouth and one on the throat. Honestly for da split ring idk haha. Whatever was available at da store. That treble on that lure was size 2/0

Switch up your knife for a butter knife. Way better, then you don’t have to worry about jabbing your hand with that knife. Wearing gloves make difference too.

Yeeeheeee mahalos plenny. I’ve been using mustad gloves. I like the color way. Had em for like 3 years and they finally gave out. I went with something more simple now. Just the finger glove. One Japanese brand

Did you catch that from shore? And if so when is the best time to be successful? I’m trying to do it off a fly rod (12wt). Is it possible on the big island or is it a waste to try?
and biggest problem with kahala is ciguatera toxin not so much worms. you really should not eat them for safety, brain damage toxin like ciguatera can show up years later. And with ciguatera the fish will taste fine...cooking it does not kill the toxin.
I had Roi and Kole where the cig is way worse than kahala. Our side of the island. Big island… cleaner water 💧 this fish was on the smaller side too. Taste mean !!! It’s practically a wild kanpachi. The meat was just too nice. Thanks for the tips and concern. I’ll be on the look out for anything suspicious. Odda than that. This is my food. Fishing all my life eating all sorts haha. Going strong 💪🏽
@@SehlamCCC Ah ok; big island is better. Smaller isles got more reef. We only eat barracuda on kauai that's caught in the rivers. Now they are nice nice grilled.

Howzit braddah, mahalo plenny. Majority of the time we do bleed the fish. I still ify to put em up on UA-cam. I have done it a couple times. I can tell the difference in the meat. Way more cleaner.
