Apiary in Maltese 'Miġbħa' dating Punic-Roman in twin layout among secluded woodland
Переглядів 94Рік тому
In the countryside one can find apiaries called ‘Miġbħa’ that date to Punic times. Here it is important to say that honey was a commodity in old times. Before the invention of sugar refining, honey was the only means of sweetener and also for a time it was also cheaper than cane sugar. Some farmers kept a few jars of bees so that they have some honey for their consumption, and not as a business...

On video focalising on the mass number of cave systems present as of today by this rugged coast, and tagging as accurately as possible, the actual old Maltese names given. Names mostly deriving from the land or valleys above the coast areas out of ol...

Xlendi Tunnel known as Ghar tar-Riefnu - in Gozo

The shallow tunnel cave is about 70m long and runs through the headland of the bay, offering some pretty light silhouettes and marine life. There is also a low overhead cave within the same tunnel.

The cinematography is amazing. It captures the beauty of the marine life perfectly.
Nice
Wow beautiful, wish to see them like this
LUCKY! this must be early morning before the rush of boats disturb the morning peace?
Boats were there already as you see, esp fisherman's. It was mostly luck, and maybe curiosity on their part as they kept peacefully rounding us for some 7 minutes straight.
Great !!!!! Congratulation !!! Beautiful experience !!! Thanks for sharing.
Xi ġmiel 🤩
Great!!! Thanks for sharing. How fast was the bull ray - did you swim so quickly or did you use an underwater scooter?
In true fact the bull ray was on flight and quite fast. Had no scooter but only the short snorkel fins and strong legs put to good use here hehe whilst holding breath... Beautiful creature!
Thanks for the experience 🤩
Your dedication and perfection in transforming this memorable experience into this well detailed video really amaze me. You are so special!
So relaxing 😍. My dream to snorkel there.
Impressive! Another World! Also nice editing and enjoyable music. You really captured well that Grey Heron 😍
Where is the exact location?
Wow Patricia! Well done!
Super like well done ❤
Majestic experience! How gently did you touch them. They are seasonal and the last autumn was very reach on them in Malta. I like them too as they do not sting. The small fish have safe shelters among their arms and maybe there is a symbiosis in finding a plankton food?
I assimilate with what is likewise with nature. I obey it and dance along, & it respects you in return. Jellies are bubbly companions. Baby fish often hitch rides inside a jellyfish’s bell for protection against predators...that we know. As to food supply, it's like hitting two targets with one stone. A possibility indeed...
Did you snorkel so much substantial part of the south coast at once? Impressive! How do you keep your belongings safe? I drag a 20 L barrel with my clothes on a rope behind me since I was unable to find them for the 3rd time in my life. The 1st time they were brought to SLM police station (Triq Rudolfu) in the morning with a great idea that someone lost them. They were returned to me after walking there through crowded SLM streets in wet neoprene suit (becauses the key in a pocket of clothes), water dropping to the desk while explaining to the police woman officer what happened and why I'm such dressed. Last 2 times they were just moved further away to check whether there is something valuable inside and then littered up. Was it recorded last few days of 2023 when the sea was calm after Christmas storms, or much earlier when the sea was still at least slightly warmer? What was the sea water temperature? You have a thin suit and no hood. I used to wear Cressi apnea 5 mm thick neoprene suit and felt cold with shaking muscles after 4 hours in the winter Maltese sea. 2 years ago I've bought a custom made 7 mm thick Elios Yamamoto 45 Hyperstretch in which I have never felt any cold either any muscles shaking after spending half days in winter Maltese sea of 15 C temperature. It just requires 8 kg of lead on my belt to be able to dive. Few years ago I saw videos similar to yours posted by Trixie, but forgot to subscribe, so I lost the channel. Thus I subscribed to your one not to repeat my past mistake.
All my videos are in one session. I do what I feel like on the day. No targets or numbers, but just the experience. I use a swimmers bouy for safety and it contains a dry bag too. I need no lead since I'm not diving here. Cold threshold is part of open water swimming, and in Summer I might not even wear wetsuits since I like to stay free. Nowadays any belonging left at the coast, are liable to be robbed. Even a flip flop. Trixie is me ;) I just changed the Account. Just subscribed to your channel as well.
We always learn something new watching your videos. Thank you for the effort you put into them, it does not go unnoticed. GOAK
Another stunning film!!! We hope to kayak again with you soon!
What an amazing day next one i wish to join
What a beautiful video!!! Thank you for creating it and sharing it with us! We have taken out hundreds of people, we are yet to see a video of this accuracy, beauty, and gorgeous editing! Well done!!
Well done, it's very interesting to watch! 👏
how long is that tunnel?
Approx 15/20m including the dive-in where length of tunnel starts off
I am looking forward for a vecation in Malta and places to snorkel. I see that "Coral bay" got no corals at all but still beautiful cristal clear water. Thanks for sharing!
Coral lagoon is really a name given by foreigners for its coral colours of other sea grass. It is Dragonara roofless cave actually. Plenty of snorkel opportunities as locally our sea tends to be crystal clear. Check that day where swell and wind direction is not in favour to the area/bay, and you shall enjoy it best.
ua-cam.com/video/nA8fImB_ucY/v-deo.html Same area as above, but spent more time in the surrounding caves here.
is it all Slugs Bay
It starts off from the chapel on top of the said cliffs, and at sea it starts off from White Tower side all round the East side of Tal-Madonna cliffs, caves and...finishes off with Slugs bay. Locally Slugs bay we call it Dahlet ix-Xilep. This video depicts in more detail the caves round there. ua-cam.com/video/nA8fImB_ucY/v-deo.html
Ikkummentajt imma l-kumment b'xi mod tħassar. Proset tal-videos imma evitaw li tużaw fit-titlu dawn l-ismijiet bl-Ingliż. Dawn, il-maġġorparti, ismijiet li ivvintaw l-Ingliżi u xi wħud ivvintahom xi ċuċ Malti jew barrani u tefagħhom f'Google Maps. Ġa qegħdin f'sitwazzjoni li ħafna Maltin jirreferu għal ħafna toponimi b'ismijiet stupidi Ingliżi. Ejja ma nkomplux inħeġġu din l-injoranza. Li tuża l-isem Malti fid-deskrizzjoni mhuwiex biżżejjed.
Nsostni bhalek..iktar ma jghaddi zmien. U irangajthom fit-titlu, ghalkemm semmejtom fid-deskrizzjoni. Grazzi.
@@Lost_Awake Grazzi talli ħadtu sew il-kumment tiegħi. U grazzi talli biddiltu. Forsi jinteressak: jekk tfittex Alex Camilleri u l-kelma "toponomastika" għandek issib ħafna artikli fuq dawn l-ismijiet Maltin, inkluż id-Dragunara, il-Bejta tal-Fenek u ħafna iktar
@@IsaacBTTF sirt naf bijhom minn xi sena ilu dawk l-artikli. Gbarthom kollha, u m'ilux kelli tahdita ma iehor, kif qed taghmilli int. Anzi 🙏 int edukat. Google maps pruvajt nirranga ismijiet, imma ma nafx kif, hafna drabi ma japprovawhomx bla provi konkreti jghiduli. Allura niskanta kif xi isem fazull bl-Ingliz, approvawh. Imma!
Love this cave
Nice, I was following you already
Thanks for showing us all the caves. Very relaxing video!
My small channel is all about Malta coasts from a swimming and relaxing perspective; glad you enjoyed.
While snorkelling in Malta its highly advisable that at all times you make yourself visible with a buoy.
I always have a swimmers buoy attached in open waters. Totally 👍
Was so SORRY TO HEAR THAT THE MELLIEHA BAY HOTEL IS GOING TO BE DEMOLISHED, BUT MAYBE WE CAN HOPE THAT A NEW DEVELOPER MAY REBUILD IT. I HAVE SOME WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF THE HOTEL AND A HOLIDAY I HAD THERE WITH MY HUSBAND. IT IS A GREAT SHAME TO HEAR ABOUT THE END OF AN ERA. SO SAD. BECAUSE I LOVE MALTA. 🌹💞💜
