I really honestly believe that you need a bigger shop like I got
@RudySueoka-np9in a plan is being investigated
Hi. great show. I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4. It always seem to leak. My guy put in a oil cooler that cracked and had to out another one in. Needless to say, the oil was all over the place. The engine is super v6 with 234,000 miles. I'd love to see any videos you may have. I never changed the plugs or the transmission. Should I have it done now?
Was splash shield missing in the lower part of the wheel well ?
@samgrieg yes, the splash shield was missing
Cool got to see the side of the car
Technically it's like 2/3 of the side.
MSD makes great HD factory module/coil/cap and rotor kits for HEI distributors...Do you want to deal with A.Z./ Oreilly Limited Lifetime Stuff every time you have to walk down the road to get parts...when your left stranded on side of the road....??
Great video , my 1998 XJ is having this done!
I am scared of this now
Everyone always wonders why I have so many fire extinguishers in my shop. Here's why. 😂
You Schoch guys are hilarious! Good thing you don't have any baseball gear.
That cab was certainly full of Schoch. You are blessed to still have your grandfather in your life.
We are not a small people. LOL. And yes, very blessed to still have him and for him to be so independent still.
It's a running and driving OBS Chevy, those things bring GOOD money, even as a long bed. I'd clean it up throw some cheap but nice custom wheels on it and pass it on to someone as a nice daily driver that they can work on themselves as a daily driver and a weekend fun truck.
I don't know about driving, but definitely running! We've been kicking around trying some new build ideas on one of these trucks and this one seems perfect for that. We're not going to go crazy, it'll still be a good driver for someone when we're done.
@@TheMidnightMechanic But you did take it on a drive.... so yes it's running and driving, yes the trans needs rebuilt but if you know what your doing you can do it yourself. I personally would rebuild the automatic trans because when you put a manual in it you shrink your market by 50% at best, if the new owners want a manual then let them do that themselves.
Short beds definitely bring a higher price. Be interesting to see if it's profitable.
Everybody inhale!😂😂
Chase's face when you said you didn't bring a fire extinguisher. 😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
S 10 is a pick up not a car
You are correct, sir
Some grease or silicone on the gasket to keep it from bouncing around ... would have been the way the old man would have taught my ass but everyone has there own way ...
I never like doing that, adding anything extra to a gasket just gives it extra areas to leak.
I love doing S10s all the fun of a G body for a quarter of the cost! Over on my channel I did an 83 S10 with a small block all in for 1500 bucks and mostly built from everyone else's leftover garbage lol... Good work guys...I just subscribed!
@@Midnightautorepair this one might be getting a cheapo 305 spare parts swap very soon!
@TheMidnightMechanic in fact that's what mine got...a 230hp mercruser 5 liter AKA Chevy 305... Got it for free locked up solid but extremely low hours... Look for a late 80s or early 90s Bayliner as a donor... It's either gonna be a 305 or 350 and old boats in back yards people almost give away... What part of the country are you guys located?
@@TheMidnightMechanic ua-cam.com/users/shortsf5VpZ27OQws?si=Ew7DvD_g9Zld6XG1
@Midnightautorepair we're in North Carolina. Joel has a good 305 that's been sitting in his shop for a long time. It was in our 89 Firebird Formula at one point.
@Midnightautorepair love it, looks like you're in NC too!
I've done it before but this saved me atrip back and forth from the car thx
This truck brings back memories of my 90 S15 Jimmy Gypsy 4x4. Love these old square body chevys. New subscriber. 😊❤
Thanks for subscribing! We're going to be posting up some new videos of this truck once we get out of our backlog of work here. Joel has been collecting parts for it!
My nephew has a 86 S-10 That was almost a complete Parts Pile/Facebook Marketplace build. He paid $200 for it with a blown up engine, we put a Olds 307 and automatic trans that came out of my grandma's old 78 Old Delta 88 and was just taking up space in my shop, he put new gaskets all around, and painted it up all pretty, the block and heads is Olds Gold engine paint with black valve covers and intake, The seats came out a late 90's Cavalier that he bought for $50 off of Marketplace that we took the covers off fixed the foam that was gone on them and recovered them with some new tan seat covers I bought several years ago that I had in my parts loft and then forgot about. The only thing he bought new was the paint and we painted it with Majic Implement New Holland Yellow paint and then we sandblasted and painted the original steel wheels black. He's probally got 1000 bucks into it all in but that little truck's a ripper. I'm actually kind of jealous how nice it turned out.
@@TheREALOC1972 that's great! Love to hear stories like that.
@@TheMidnightMechanic yep, that';s what this hobby is all about.
Dude you’re awesome, most informative video on the small stuff that I’ve found,Had all kinds of trouble with the carbon button seating
How does it work for jumpstarting another car? Can you do that from the terminals in the engine bay, or do you have to use the actual battery?
@triton6522 you can use the terminals in the engine bay.
Stop lying..... they're all very very sentimental to you.
@@joellikness2121 I will neither confirm nor deny that.
Cool Video 👍😎 I Like the old chevys the s10 are my favorite Truck Greetings from Germany
Thanks! We're a little partial to S10s ourselves. My first car was an S10 Blazer that will be featured on here at some point.
real life: my friend had his S10 non-running legally parked in street in front of his house (insured & tagged) along with an 80's wagon that did run. These volunteer cop-types decided to ticket them and haul them off. As a nite shift worker he woke up and they challenged back and forth and when the real cops got there they figured out the volunteer cops were trying to haul off the mans property in a shady way. My friend won but he's still pissed off.
@ProtoType99468 I'd be furious, glad he won!
I have a creeper in the same style, but it's a Lisle Jeepers Creepers. Giving it to my father for Xmas, as he's a mechanic, as a two part gift. The idea being that we will restore the creeper together. My father is not going to be around a whole lot longer, so those extra memories are going to be priceless
@666s8n that's a great idea, great memories and gift.
edit this down to present like one episode. Use more overhead time lapse, feature the big guys humor more often and show every detail. People watch this kinda of stuff because we want to see our past come back to life. Use more iconic cheap stuff and let us see our high school parking lots again. Overall ... watchable
Overall... watchable might be the biggest compliment we've ever gotten. 😂 We are working on trying to get some more quality content put together, so keep watching and appreciate the feedback!
2 BIG dudes in a lil truck, LOVE IT!!!
I passed yall today on the freeway on my bike and love the content
@@samuelpyle2916 thanks!!!!
The easiest water pump install in the world of cars, lol. Great Video and explanation 👍
I love it when you can find a good truck at a good price.
I have to replace the cable there can you upload video for that too?
@zamanhrsz8254 unfortunately we no longer have the truck
I was wondering who you would recommend that is the best parts to buy from?
There's a link in the description to buy them off of Amazon, but I also tend to order a lot of parts from Summit Racing.
Any chance you could tell me what colors the wires are? Someone yanked on this one, I’m doing and pulled wires out.
@jaycatenza4194 I don't have the Jeep here anymore at the shop, but looking at the videos it looks like when you are looking straight down towards the side of the plug with button, the white is on the left, black or whatever color is on the right.
Look at 1:30 and zoom in on plug.
this is great, I wish you had also replaced the thermostat at the same time, I need that part of the procedure. thank you
Hi Mr midnight, I don't know what else you have in your library but you're definitely going to be my go to advisor. You're very articulate, good photography and to the point. I'm going to change my girlfriend's water pump on her 12 Grand Cherokee. My question was when you put the new water pump on was there a gasket or o-ring. And do I have to goober it up with form-a-gasket. (That tells you how old I am) Thank you Jeff
Regardless of car does passanger piston always rotate counterclockwise
apparently not cause my shit came out instead
I’m trying to do this on a 2009
A lot of people are bringing these mini trucks back to life.. I have one myself

Finally!
I get a loud hissing noise at the factory pin hole at the brass clamp on turbo. If i unplug vgt electrical connector, hissing goes away immediately. Def exhaust fumes blowing out of the pin hole im explaining. It burns my eyes w engine cover off van inside
So what was the reason for changing the vgt solenoid?
@nickreiter6412 low boost, slow spooling up and quick drop off of boost on decel.
Do some floor pans, paint everything in por15. Ditch the bed for a flatbed and BAM
@@aiidan6921 frame was almost rusted in half. Shame, it was a cool truck.

rounded edge out just the information i was looking for thanks man
Which flywheel did you go with? Also, is the LS7 clutch to a LS1 a direct bolt on or is there some sort of shimming required?
@@annon1731 it is the LS7 flywheel. It came in a kit from Tick Performance.
i love this so much
Was the engine smoking from there or just behind the turbo?
@@heathherren3969 what do you mean? It wasn't smoking from anywhere.
Cool vid, but what are "leftovers"?
