DAVID GARIBALDI DRUM VIEW (AS SURLEY AS I STAND HERE).
Переглядів 29 тис.14 років тому
David Garibaldi knows how to play a ballad. This is a view from behind the stage so the sound is off. But, it provides a unique perspective into how many notes and accents go into this tune.

DG Ghost Notes and Accents.m4v
Переглядів 4,1 тис.14 років тому
David Garibaldi (Tower of Power) is the master of using accents and ghost notes in a very unique and musical fashion. This is a video of the bands closing number "You're Still A Young Man" with some close-up shots of his hands in action. This was an unplanned shoot so cut me some slack on the quality :-) Enjoy!
David Garibaldi "Time Will Tell"
Переглядів 12 тис.14 років тому
I've heard people walk up to David and talk about how much they love the way he plays a ballad. So, with that in mind, here's another Drumstories Exclusive: "Time Will Tell". DG was very gracious, as always, to let us film from only about three feet from his set. Filmed at Jazz Alley on Friday, Jan. 26, 2007

David Garibaldi Drum Legends Award
😊😊😊😊😊 dennis chambers is funky drummer
Awesome❤
A world drummer. He can play all genres. Rock, Latin, Jazz , funk, soul , new wave fusion and elite in all . Check out a new wave band Novo Combo. Mike is wicked on drums.
Was with the Motown drummer . Very mathematic, very hard and physically demanding. Love music and study all you musicians. We had drum sets in the house. He was with Mel and Tim, rye Kooder, terry Evans, Albert King. Loved the genius brains at the same time I am not serious so clowns don't fit in
Sheila E is one of my favorite drummers and one of my favorite percussionist
Denis takin care of business
The groove is nasty

I saw him do a drumeo video where they asked him to play to a Tool track. He came across as a crybaby whiner. Complained the whole time.
good filming thanks !
very few can emulate Garibaldi, or get close to his sound. Ricky (RIP) has a great feel and groove and shows us reality trying to duplicate some of the toughest grooves. note for note maybe not so hard but to sound as like David Garibaldi..he is truly one of a kind..two greats here....they both inspired so many..
The funk powerhouse
🙌🏻
@drumstories do you have this whole show?!?
First of all, he's a great guy, and from my neighborhood. Second, he wears the trucki'n hat constantly, because he always drives the band. Great drummer.
That right hand on the hats is playing shuffles straight 16ths and all sorts of oddities, so awesome
Now that David is getting off the bus, it will now be a matter of which drummer can match not just Garibaldi's Oakland Stroke, but also deal with the grueling tour and rehearsal schedule.
My all time favorite drummer!! Till i die!! And my very good friend Dennis!🎼🥁❤️
Dennis has amazing Instinct. Total Musician. of course he does his Homework!!!!
Come si chiama il primo tema?
i love hearing the two different ways Garibaldi and Chambers play this. Very inspiring
Man when every member of the rhythm section is dancing together, you know they are LOCKED and groooovin!!
Better than the God, DG?
The legend
I think Carlos bought his house up in Mill Valley too, which I'm guessing why Michael got his place there. I'll bet there's some audio cassettes of some of those jam sessions. ......that'd be great to listen to, wouldn't it ?
Anybody else notice the in-ears extension dancing along with him? It's like watching the groove itself
My favorite drummer of all time, the man is a monster...
All love to you Ricky Lawson, a wonderful drummer and kind man. We remember you fondly.
A drummer, this band always deserved.
So solid and doesn't read music =)
With Dennis, this song makes sense, without the tempo swaying all over the place. God damn, that one live version with Garibaldi was torture to watch, because he could not hold the tempo down at all. Dennis Chambers is a bit like a bricklayer with his version here, but at least he anchors the groove, like he is supposed to.
Always inspired by the great David Garibaldi.
Music Minus The World Famous Tower Horns.
David is the Master.....🤘
This can't be any fatter ... it would have a heart attack!
Dave and Dennis are both amazing in-the-pocket drummers. It doesn't get any better!
It doesn't get any better than Michael Schrieve. I could listen to his stories for hours.
A masterclass in groove. DC makes it look so easy, but it's huge to play these beats and accents right on point, always in the pocket. He hits it out of the park.
I can just hear ToP saying, "Dennis, we got you - we want you. Just play it however you want." This is awesome
Love hearing Dennis's interpretation of DG's grooves
Glad l'm not the only that struggled while learning that drum intro
Tower is da best....
Maravilloso¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Mil gracias por compartir este registro de dennis con tower of power
Hmmm...well that's okay if you want a heavy backbeat but you lose the unique Garibaldi groove.
No space in the drummers playing! Very Mechanical!
It's called having' a steady beat, something Garibaldi cannot do.
@@MeAndTheBoys_ But Garibaldi, was one of Chambers influences! Secondly it was the chemistry between Rocco and David, no other drummer could achieve! If you were a REAL musician, you wouldn't have said something so F#cking Stupid! Now go practice your accordion Limp Dick
Lovely lady. I saw her when she was in the George Benson band, way back. She was amazing.
I recall buying the first Santana album right when it came out. I was stunned. But of course that was just the beginning for them. Great drummer.
altough he keeps playing the pattern "wrong' , he keeps on grooving. He was truly great
Fucking awesome!
The'75 Circa - In The Slot., A well-arranged ballad.
