Nothing to do with making beautiful glass work, but I'm working hard to purge small gas engines from my life. I absolutely hate dealing with carburators and maintaining those engines. Might be helpful for you as well? My problem is solved!! p.s. I hope to be uploading more glass/art videos very soon!

Grouting Tempered Glass
Переглядів 2 тис.3 роки тому
Not my best video...not my favorite subject matter, but let's push thru! I like going over the entire piece with a damp q-tip before I spray on sealant. Follow the manufactureres directions, 2 coats, and then I take a dry cloth for final wipe down. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or drop a comment. les.selavie@gmail.com
Using Tempered Glass

Preparing Tempered Glass For Mosaics
Переглядів 5 тис.3 роки тому
In the video I tested two methods to help hold the glass together after it shatters so you don't have tiny pieces all over the place. Use the shipping tape method and not the Weldbond wash method!!!! After it breaks, I took an exacto knife and cut chunks of glass cutting thru the tape. I then stored the glass, with the tape still on, in a box for later use. To use, glue the glass on the non tap...
Kiln Formed Glass, A Few Of My Pieces
Переглядів 1643 роки тому
I started with traditional copper foil stained glass panels (vlog to follow.) I realized I wasn't a big fan of all that soldering, so I moved to leaded panels. And then it wasn't long where I felt I needed to color outside the lines and started both kiln formed fusing and mosaics. The only thing left is glass blowing, but I'm pretty happy where I'm at. Enjoy!

Tombstone Rose, Plein Aire with Booze #5

The largest rose tree in the world will be our final resting place for "plein aire" which doesn't mean a thing because in our bylaws it is stated that we do what we want, when we want, and the only criteria is to attend you must toast with booze at the meeting...cheers!

Tombstone Rose Fused Glass (Freeze & Fuse)
Awesome. Thankyou
Oh no, this piece is really beautiful ❤
Just need to tap one corner with a hammer. Right at the corner tip. Not on top of the glass. It will break with less busting. I work in a glass shop.
What kind of tape??
I just use painters tape
💕
Beautiful craft! Thanks
Good Luck Stansbury Art Studio! Thanks for the tips!!
could you use plexi glass .
@mexipatti I have never used it so if you wanted to, I would suggest you do a small piece to test adhesives. Please post your results if you run a test. Very interesting concept!
Nice job! Good luck with your studio. 👍
Thank you for the great tutorial. I am researching my first GOG mosaic to do with my daughter. I want us to be successful and the tip of supporting the glass, tape placement, and pre drilling the hangers are helpful. I dont think we will be using grout for our first project.
I start watching and I'm interested in learning where would I purchase glass in ontario canada
Thank you. I am a first timer to this stained glass mosaic. Dont know anything on it, but you have shared wonderful information which have inspired me to try my hands. Thank you for sharing and I will certainly will be viewing all your videos and posting to learn from you. Thank you. What is a good brand of tools to purchase and what type of tools and material sites to purchase online from eg Amazon. Thank you for sharing.
Great explanation! I can see the benefit of using tempered glass especially as a background piece! I am just learning and enjoyed how you showed the details about how and Why You create your mosaics! Thank you!
Where do you purchase your Mac glue? I live in TN I am having trouble finding it!
Okay you converted me from candles now! 😆
Maravilloso, ❤ espectacular!❤
Love this! Thank you for your detailed information! Your art is so beautiful…❤
Thank you for sharing. Very helpful instructions.
really cool idea, who knew we could alter our stringer and vitriograph this way? Very cool and ty
have you used well bond glue?
What ever happened to this studio. Have we seen it in action, being worked and lived in.
I had to abandom ship. The costs for A/C were way more than I planned. Ended up turning with smaller space in the house...It'll do
@@stansburyartstudio1662 Yea. My wheel is in a 6' X 6' space in the office. Air, heat, computer, and TV. Fortunately, only a few steps from the big studio space.
Lol love your cat, I have a dog that meows🤣Your videos are great, ty for making them.
VERY LOVELY...
When i do GOG with resin… I use clear silicone (boat silicone) instead of e6000. I also pull the tabs out with pliers
I love it! it’s so beautiful!! 💗 Thank you so much!
Beginner here..please explain the difference between tempered glass and non-tempered glass. Thanks!
Tempered glass, aka safety glass, is required to be used in showers and low windows in the building industry. The idea is if the glass is broken it breaks up into thousands of pieces and primarily stays together. It is also used for automobile windows but I don't use that form. I have another video called "Preparing Tempered Glass for Mosaics" and it shows you how to break it. It's a lovely addition to the studio!
New subscriber here. Do you have a video on grouting? I got into mosaics a couple years ago, and basically gave up because I could not grout for the life of me! I do work with resin and I may try this with resin, but I love the look of grout. Thanks so much!
Grouting can be a bugger. I find the dryer the grout, the better. The next time I grout I will video it. Look up Sue Smith Glass Mosaics on YT channel and look for her grouting. She's excellent!
How can you be sure your glued on glass will be level with the frame?
it's a film of glue with 3mm of glass. My frames generally give me a half an inch to work with
I think it’s awesome. Thanks for showing everything. I learned a lot. I do mosaics and grout. I do think that your grout was too dry in the beginning. That’s why it was so hard to get off. I would love to try the resin and make pieces like you, but the cost of the heat gun concerns me and then turns me off in trying your new method. Darn!!!! Disappointing. 🥺🐢🌮
The heat gun was something I already had. Some people use those kitchen flame guns for cooking with great success. I have not priced them.
I can’t find #1 on tempered glass? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🌮🐢
Look for your home glass construction store that does windows, shower doors, and the like. Ask them for their scrap tempered.
Thanks a bunch! 🐢🌮
Thanks a bunch. I will give it a try! 🐢🌮
Thank you for sharing! I learned a few tips 😊I also have some to share; 1. If the piece is small enough consider using something like a foil pan to catch the drip overflow as resin might seep through newspaper and cause damage to work surface 2. When propping the piece try parchment paper to put in between a lid and the piece as this will prevent resin sticking and for a easy removal of piece 3. Label the cups they can be used over and over…’a’, ‘b’ and ‘a & b’ this way there’s no doubt which resin to put in what cup 4. Tilt after pouring resin instead of using a stick as a stick no matter how gently used may resonate marks on the piece 5. When purchasing resin look for labels marked ‘UV protection’ as not all resin is alike and will yellow over time 6. For a 3D look of acrylic painted piece paint with acrylic after resin has cured. Curing resin to it’s fullest state may take 3 weeks or more
Great tips!!! Thank you so much!! Since I've made this video, I have ventured out and have added glass to the initial resin pour and then stacked the glass on top after it dries. I love it! I will attempt to layer the paints in between resin layers. I'm still just doing the one layer right now. Really appreciate your feedback!!!
love it
It was a blast!!!
Always fun trying something new.
Great video! I'm just learning gog. So if using larger pieces of glass, you put the glue just around the edges (to eliminate grout bleed), not spread the glue edge to edge across the whole back of the piece you're gluing? And will Mac glue dry transparent enough that you won't see the glue at all? I was looking at some pieces and although the glue had dried "clear" you could still see it in the light... thank you!
the glue has two jobs: holds the glass in place and seals the edges so grout cannot get underneath. Yes, even though the glue dries clear you will still see the texture of it. The only way to avoid that is to cover the entire piece in glue and press out all the bubbles. As the piece dries, you will need to come back often to press out any air bubbles and clean the edges....but then you have to wait for all the glue to completely dry. It's a struggle!
where do you buy mac glue in Arizona. It is soooo expensive on amazon.
Thank you. Great video. I learned a lot.
Thanks a bunch… that was great. Kathie from Mexico 🐢
Thank you!

very cool ..or should I say hot ...lol
Always glad to know you got something going in the studio.
hey Jeff! Haven't seen anything from your studio lately...are you doing ok? The Boozers are partying tomorrow :)
@@stansburyartstudio1662 So seemingly small but cataract surgery did take some fight out of me for about 6 weeks. Busy making pots too, continual, subtle design refinements have helped sales. Big announcement in tomorrows and for upcoming videos. Enjoy your en plein air.
Hi. Thank you for the video. Where on earth did you find the MAC glue for $7.99? I hope it's still available wherever you found it because even with shipping, it would be less than anything I can find.
WOW. I want one. Last power out me and I found everyone elce too couldn't get their, even new, antiquated gas motor system generators started. Two weeks now on my battery lawnmower. Going on year 5 with chainsaw, best move of my life. Superior as the gas ones are I was always fighting to cut todays wood. With a toy. joke battery one I've now got a two year supply. All the things that make life comfortable.
they are a pain in the you know what! These, takes 8 hours to charge and you have power for 14 hours! Get two!!
Have you done a follow up video on this? I would love to see the results!
@Rene S the thumbnail for the video is all I have for finished product....they all sold very quickly!
@@stansburyartstudio1662 It's very beautiful!
thank you for sharing this video. l was wondering how you finish the back of the frame, especially if your glass that is not a clear color. The glass is solid not translucent/clear color. l liked the tip you shared about making sure you put glue around the edge of the glass to prevent grout bleed. l look forward to more of your videos when have time to make them. Also ty for sharing the glue you use.
beautiful piece using tempered glass on clear substrate. loved the black grout antique look.
