New RV YouTubers Have a Secret Advantage. Here’s Why.

Some folks insist that if you're new to RV life, you have no right making a UA-cam channel and that should wait until you have experience to post about RVing. In today's episode, Page talks about why not only that isn't true but how in fact, RV UA-camrs have a secret advantage (and a lot to teach). Bonded neutral will fix your problem. Had same issue charging an EV with mine. Cheap bonded neutral plug off Amazon fixes.
I have owned the P5000 Abearl since 1/1/2024. It runs my off grid rv 24/7. Not 1 problem. Usually charge with generator and from 20% takes 2-2 1/2 hours to recharge. Slightly longer if i'm running appliances. Installed 5,000 btu ac and in high humidity summer heat of TN, have to charge it twice a day. In winter weather, like now, 11/23/2024, I'll go 2-4 days b4 recharging, gas heat. Have 960 watts of solar panels plugged in but with all the trees around me it doesn't help in summer and marginally in winter. I do cut the inverter off at night when i'm not running ac. Woke up with 62% battery. Cell phone booster, amplified antenna, weather station, tv football on all day, charge phone and computer, light going away and I have 66% @4 pm from tree shaded solar. I run fridge and small separate freezer on another battery solar system. Have ecoflow delta 2 with extra battery for backup though small, its a reliable workhorse that I have charged 3 times a day in summer to run ac. No complaints here with either battery generator. Best wishes and have safe, happy holidays and new year!
Comment for the algorithm. Wouldn't have even thought about someone pulling up, hitch, and go... but it's a great point. Thanks for the video.
Air tag works 💪
What's the bike lock that you use?
Oh, sorry -- I meant to put it in the description (I'll edit it now). Here's our bike lock: amzn.to/40j7svP
Leaning into youtube has made me so much more competent - it's one thing to say "alright, time to learn how to do X", and a whole different thing to say "time to learn and understand X well enough that I can explain it to someone's clueless grandma in a video while I do it!"
I agree, you really do have to know your stuff well enough to explain it simply!
The curse of knowledge are a part of my basis of my channel. I am an author where I talk about different emotions g be gone being an author, secrets are behind my book series, Betrayal in the First Degree. This is how I interpret the world through a typical unknown author eyes.
Very neat!
👀
Yea! Justin-vember!
I was watching some of your videos yesterday, and then later I was thinking about how you said that you miss being able to make the bed. These are my thought and you can research them. 1) Ditch the top sheet. Have Justin put on the fitted sheet, but not the top sheet. Get something like a duvet with a cover. 2) Get two duvets. I don't know where I read it, but I read somewhere that the solution to fighting over the covers in Scandinavian countries is to give each sleeper their own duvet (or blanket or whatever). No one is able to hog the covers. That may not be a problem here. Anyway, fluff and fold the duvets in the morning and fix the pillows. Bed made!
Those are some excellent ideas, thanks for sharing!
I really love your RV and how you have it set up. Having an area to use as an office for me to work is what I am so appealing to me!
Thank you so much! It works great for Justin
Page, when you talked about the 30 amp power imitation, it reminded me of the show, Greed Acres. Before your time, I know. But living on the farm in Green Acres. Lisa the wife was always juggling power usage in the kitchen. Look it up sometime if you're bored.
I've never seen Green Acres, but I'll have to check it out
Thank You For Sharing Your Thoughts And Ideas !! Happy Camping !

Sure thing! We had a great stay. Thanks for stopping by. ✨
So awesome, I would join your caravan of random places! Sounds like how I would travel in an RV like that! Have you ever used Atlas Obscura of the places you go? I often use this when I travel.
We haven't! that's a great tip, thanks!
I totally get it! I bought some RV land last year and it's amazing. Still feel the bumps and movements of people moving, but many of the issues you mention are long gone.
makes sense to me!
Very informative thank you
Sure thing! It's been great and I'm so glad we did this -- but just keeping it real.
Great info. Thanks.
You're so welcome
Possibly you could give Northern CA another try. In the redwoods up Hwy 101. Redding is on I5 and a meth heavy city. IMO, Bakersfield is the armpit of CA. Again, this is my opinion. Stay on the coast! Also, the state parks in Northern California are mostly smack dab in the middle of the most amazing trees on the planet. The Avenue of the Giants is always a favorite! IMO, Burlington state campground is the best one on the Avenue of the Giants. There are some incredible places in CA!! I hope you can give it another try and stay off I5. Stick to the PCH/hwy 101
That's fair! I've been sorta interested in the Mendocino area, for example, since that's where Murder She Wrote was filmed (as a fictional stand-in for Maine, where I'm from originally).
Nevada? You missed Lake Tahoe area.
That's true. We didn't go to Lake Tahoe -- or Great Basin National Park, for that matter.
Glad Arizona isn't on the negative list. New England is gorgeous. It bothers me that Maine is the only state up there I haven't seen. I was so close but didn't make it. I lived in Florida for three months. I found the culture around Orlando to be very age-oriented as in young. Like "Hi I'm John Doe. How old are you?" I was in my forties at that time and felt like a relatively old person.
Arizona was fun! New England is pretty but very short RVing season unfortunately.
So cool. I remember when a few drivers from Ice Road Truckers went to India. No way would I drive on their roads. Too chaotic.
Justin was very glad he wasn't driving!
Mmm, that Blueberry wine looks interesting. Is that one of the wines you purchased? If so, what did you think of it?
Yes, we purchased the blueberry wine. It was pretty good. It wasn't sickly sweet like some of the other fruit wines we've gotten elsewhere. On the dry side for a fruit wine, but we like it that way.
@@OurMovingCastle I had a really good pear wine from a place in Washington several years ago. I wish I could remember where, but I visited a lot of them during that year.
Excellent video. I'm curious what tools Justin opted to take on the road. I have a kit that has sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, and allan wrenches. I also have a drill and a hammer. Should I get something else?
Justin also carries a number of PEX plumbing and electrical tools as those tend to be the most common issues that happen on the road. He says to carry some spare PEX fittings and a multimeter if you're comfortable with those kinds of repairs.
@@OurMovingCastle Ooh, thank you very much. I've repaired both cars and houses before so I am comfortable with it. Good reminder to carry those things. I'll add them to my kit. Thank you again, you are both wonderful.
❤ OR! Surprised about Alabama but will have to add the coast there to my list. Northern Nevada mountains is the only worthy area in the state, imho.
I was surprised about Alabama too! We kept an open mind while traveling and it was really interesting how it felt to live different places for a little while.
I travel every other month for work and the first time I left my wife alone in the RV was an adventure. Let's just say that was the first time she dumped the tank and there were issues. She's traumatized.
Awww! I didn't find it to be that bad of an experience, but I don't get grossed out easily Although it can get really nasty if there are issues. Your poor wife
Been drinking unfiltered city water for 70 years and I still kicking. Some people take these things to extreme, but if that's what you wanna do then more power to you.
Fair enough! Glad you're still with us
I tow at 62 to 65 mpg and am way under my tow rating, simply for safety and fuel economy unless.... single lane then do the speed limit so as not to annoy other drivers.
Good thinking
Get your candles, just dont light them or use them outside. Make a center pie e with flowers to enjoy them.
Ha fair!
Tire speed rating
Good point
Another reason for not speeding is MPG. We have a Class C 29' and my self imposed speed limit is 70mph. If the speed limit is 80 I'm in the right lane doing 70. RV's REALLY like to drink fuel above 70MPH! Like she said, don't be in a hurry. There's no reason for it if you plan accordingly for stops, traffic etc...especially nowdays with all the GPS technology which are accurate to the minute and will re route you if the traffic is too bad.
Oh great point about the MPG, thanks!
🕯 🦪 🕯
😅
Great tips! I don't have an RV yet and use a car for camping until then. I've also heard RV people set up and leave things out for a long time - like at a sticks & bricks - then return to their stuff missing.
One of my favorite things is the rain hitting my van roof. I've pulled over just to listen without driving distracting my favorite sounds. 😂😅😊
Love that!
I did a TON of research before deciding on the rv lifestyle. Most people we've met have been nice along the way, but yes, some are snobs. Also, I've seen some real bullsh*tters in the youtube community and blogs. We have a Tiffin 32ft class A, and get a lot of questions here and there. It's kind of fun chatting about our differing lifestyles and rv preferences. Just enjoy your time out there, and don't worry about any nay sayers or judgy judges. I think it's great that you seem like such a laid back, sweet person. Glad to be a new subscriber. And who knows, maybe we'll cross paths on the road someday. Happy Travels!
Aw thanks for the kind words -- yeah, I suppose it takes all kinds. :)
Love the normal “vibe” you bring to a vlog style video Page! Also the juxtaposition of the uniqueness of Justin in India is super fun in this vlog. I’m a fan of cold brew too for the convenience but mostly in summer cause I live up in Canada where we have snow at least 4 month of the year.
Thank you!
There is just something about it when our husbands are home at night for sure❤
Absolutely
I hear you! It can be so loud at times, but very peaceful as well. And the wind! We had big storms move through a few weeks ago and i spent part of the night sitting on the floor in case a branch or something went through the windows! Luckily all was well
I'm so glad! Yes, the rougher storms can be quite scary.
For a slightly different perspective, I am a 68 year old male and I have been boondocking in the southwest for the last 7 winters. I have had none of the issue you mention. Nobody has tried to run me off the land, and I stay far enough from other RVs that what they do has no impact on me. Rough roads are best scouted out with Google Maps satellite view, and I have even walked some roads before driving down them. Boondocking can easily be done by driving no more than the length of your RV off the dirt road. There is no reason to make it more rough than what you are comfortable driving. I full time in my cargo trailer to RV conversion. Three years ago I only had a shower tent, and that did me for over a year until I built the bathroom inside. I know very well the value of a hot shower when out in the desert on BLM land. Last year I ended up talking to a woman who was living in her car nearby where I was parked on BLM land. She seemed nice, and knowing how tough it must be for her to shower, I offered her mine if she wanted to use it. She told me she was going to see a friend in town later that day and would have a shower there and thanked me for the offer. I never thought anything more about it. Until now. I appreciate it must be different for a woman being out on BLM land. But to have my offer of a shower to this woman viewed through the lens of trying to "lure her" into something was both surprising and insulting. My offer had no ulterior motive, and I intended to leave her and my RV and go for a walk while she had her shower in privacy. Surprised I had not heard of women disappearing from BLM land even though I have been boondocking for 7 years, I Googled "Are women disappearing from Bureau of Land Management land in the US?". This search turned up nothing. Can you link us to some of these incidents of disappearances that you mentioned? Or tell us what to search for? I understand that lurid stories get clicks. But I have to question what good it does to intentionally portray BLM land and the men who camp there in such a negative light. What it does is make people like me less friendly if the person is female than if they were male, out of fear of them mistaking my kindness for a come on. I certainly won't offer a female the use of my shower again. Your video did educate me on that point.
Thanks!
Great video. We used to visit national parks all the time growing up and you reminded me of so many of the good times we had there. What’s your favorite national park that you visited so far?
Oh that's such a tough question! They're all so good in different ways. Yellowstone was really amazing (although very crowded). And I'm really partial to Acadia, having grown up in Maine.
Yellowstone is beautiful and the Grand Canyon is an experience. My favorite National Park is Arches in Utah. It is so peaceful there, especially Sand Dune Arch.@@OurMovingCastle
Great video, lovely to watch somebody just been normal. Glad you managed the week alone, not often alone, but the quiet is the worst, when I am .
Aw thank you. Yeah, I had the TV on quite a bit as background noise because I don't like the quiet either
Thank you for taking us on your weeklong journey. It was definitely eye-opening. I’m the same way, I have a hard time sleeping without my husband too. always look forward to your videos.
Aw thank you! It was a nice change from some of my regular videos. And it's really nice to have him home again. :)
🙌🧠🚙👩💻
Love the honest look!
New sub here. I’m so sorry about Ratface. My sweet kitty passed in ten days after showing signs he was ill and he had GI cancer as well.
Thank you. Sorry for your loss.
I love the honest look at a mess we can all identify with! ❤
Aww thank you so much!
Scary things - the earlier in your camping experience that something scary happens, the more it's going to affect you is what I believe. However, if you've had 10-15+ good (non-negative) experiences, it's going to affect you a lot less. IMHO.
That makes sense!
Comment about the bug zapper: zapped bug parts can spread out further than you think they can. Maybe turn it off when cooking or prepping or drying dishes.
Oh! So I definitely misspoke, sorry. That's a Katchy fly trap, not a regular bug zapper.
What are the odds of Justin watching this? Does he watch the channel? Might he if he misses you watch this? I hope he doesn't get too mad since you have said that he is neat and organized! Thanks for sharing!
Awww we're all good! He didn't get mad. :)
