550' Long Beaver Dam!!
This was one long beaver dam! Great weather if you're lying on the beach, not so much if you're wearing waders busting a beaver dam. 🥵 Check out the time laps at the end as well as walking the length of the dam.

Beavers Clogged All 4 Culverts!!

October 30th, 2023, It's getting chilly. It snowed pretty well on my drive here. This is one of my favorite spots. I have been coming here for as long as I have been fighting beavers. I actually caught my first beaver here, I can still remember the exact spot. There was a ruffed grouse right in the middle of the road waiting for me, and I picked up some more rocks to tumble over the winter. ua-...

    Hi Gene, it's good to see you again! Been long while since last time I saw you on video. How's life in Canada and hope you had great summer season and it's almost time for fall season. I am not ready for winter season since I hate winter season in cold freezing weather. I have been in hospital for a week last 4 months ago due to I had a bad fall accident that I had left fractured femur in my hip/leg and had surgery to repair my fractured femur with 2 long nails (rods) and a screw. 😕😖And then I went to Rusk Rehab for another one week. So I have been in hospital from 4/14/24 (that night of my fall accident), had surgery on 4/16/24 and then transfer to Rusk Rehab on 4/24/24 until finally went home on 5/8/24. You people have had a lot of experience destroying beaver dams but haven't learnt much.Nearly all you blokes start at the top instead of working from the bottom up.Having removed the loose material from the downstream side of the wall try digging a face as low as possible across the channel then work back into the beaver wall.Cracking timber or water coming through the wall should let you know of the imminent fail.John the Aussie bloke

    • @geneplumley4136
      @geneplumley4136 2 місяці тому

      Hey John. Not too many beavers in Australia, right? If you are ever traveling abroad, you should give it a try. There is quite a difference between beaver dams. Depending on what they have to build with and how old it is. If you look at most of my other videos, I always start at the bottom and remove as much debris as possible before letting the water go. There comes a point, though. When you are just working harder, then you have to. Then I let the water go. Thanks for watching.

    • @g2k5797
      @g2k5797 2 місяці тому

      It’s too much work to start ripping thru the foundation, easier to rip up the top and let the water pressure help you tear it down … ripping up the bottom makes a dramatic turn down, but that’s back breaking work. Work smarter, not harder.

    • @geneplumley4136
      @geneplumley4136 2 місяці тому

      Hi Peter, 👋. Great question. I like to start from the bottom most of the time. It gets the debris out of the way before the water is running over it. But like you said, they are all a bit different. Some have more mud, and some have more sticks. Once it becomes difficult/less worth my effort to remove sticks, I let the water help.

      @peterspuddleskoiandgoldfish I know who you're watching. Kenislovas, right? He does well. He puts a lot of time into making that happen. I have to be aware of what's downstream. You’re doing a great job, but you’re really not supposed to take down a beaver dam in the winter time they will starve and freeze to death

      Hi Geraldine, 👋 Thanks. You are correct, but these beavers were living 2 dams upstream. I was sent here by our township to remove the dam. It was flooding the road. Check out my next video when I went back in the spring. They definitely survived. 🦫

      Sorry, Janice. That's my job. There is no other legal option here. I am actually considering making another channel to show that part of it for those interested. Pulling the dams is only the very last day of what I do.
