Frigate NVR Creator Interview - Blake Blackshear
In this episode I speak with Blake Blackshear, the author of Frigate, a local NVR designed for Home Assistant with AI object detection. It uses artificial intelligence to perform real-time object detection locally for IP cameras.
Frigate has been one of my favorite open-source projects since it’s completely local, always introducing new features from user feedback, and has a huge community for support. I’ve been running Frigate in my house for over 2 years to provide alerts and record footage from all my security cameras. It’s deep integration with HomeAssistant for triggering automations and sending alerts when objects such as people are detected has been vital to it’s adoption rate with home automation enthusiasts.
With version 13 of Frigate currently in beta, I thought this would be a great time to talk with Blake to get a behind the scenes look of Frigate’s history and where it’s going in the future. Version 13’s most anticipated feature is the introduction of custom models through the Frigate+ service. While Frigate itself is open-source and free, Frigate+ is a paid service that allows you to train custom object detection models for your security cameras.

Automating a Garage Door Deadbolt & Remote w/ Home Assistant
Переглядів 8 тис.Рік тому
In this video I demo automating a garage door deadbolt based on the location of the individuals in my home. I also demo an automation that disables my garage door remote when I'm not in the immediate vicinity of my house. These solutions are built using HomeAssistamt, a ratgdo shield, a phone, and a relay. I had known about garage door deadbolts, but was only aware of manual versions that you u...
Locally Hosted Smart Security+ 2.0 Garage Door w/ the ratgdo Project
Переглядів 22 тис.Рік тому
After 15 years, my garage door motor died, and when the new one was installed my existing Go Control relay system didn’t work any longer. This is a problem many others have experienced when upgrading their garage doors. The reason for this is that modern garage doors lock down their systems with something called Security 2.0. This stops conventional relays systems from working and therefore rel...

My Comcast 2Gbps Internet Upgrade

On my most recent visit to the Comcast website, I noticed I was eligible to upgrade to the "Gigabit X2" service tier! Fully Offline Synchronized Audio Alerts & Music (Part1)

    You made sure to include another channel's review about that desk but you only spent 6 seconds moving it back and forth to showcase the stability. I dont understan people that want to promote a certain type of desk put their clown mask on instead of just doing a 5-10min video limit testing the stability in every height, which is what literally everyone and their mother cares about when they open a video like that.

What brought me to your video was a search for using an 841LM without a GDO. I hope to use a simple 12V wifi relay to control the 841LM on a manual garage door. My question for you is… is there a minimum amount of time voltage must be applied to the lock to open/close it? And how do you determine it’s current state?

    I was able to workaround the problems mentioned in the video by getting bluetooth aux and couple of cable connectors. For Bluetooth aux i got the Anker one powered by usb. Then from the bluetooth aux connected a aux to rca cable left/right. At the end of each left right rca pin, connected a rca to aux adapter which in turn was fed to google home speakers left and right respectively. Overall it costed around 20$ for bluetooth aux and cables. I have connected these speakers Bluetooth aux to my tv. Got two of these speakers in fb market for 180$. Overall I am impressed with the sound quality for the 200$ i spent 😊..

    I am really considering purchasing this desk. My one big concern is from the looks of things the back leaves no space to mount clamps. I noticed you may have removed the center of the last support beam to work around this issue. Is this ok to do? I saw Upline offers a arm with a clamp that supports up to 3.75" of thickness. Is that something that could cover the thickness of a 1.5" butcher top and the thickness of the beam underneath or is removing that beam really the only option?

    • @daviddonnelly8406
      @daviddonnelly8406 Рік тому

      I think it has been resolved and for community information: Long story - very short. Reflashed ratgdo for mqtt. All went very well. On the ratgdo web page, at the bottom, there is a Control Protocol selection. I totally missed this (MY BAD - BIG TIME). I saw and focused on the firmware update at the top of the page. (tunnel vision) However, I selected Security +1, and then updated the firmware to V2.1. The system was updated and rebooted. However, the garage door would not respond. So - reflashed, firmware reinstall complete, selected Security +1, DID NOT update the firmware to V2.1 and ratgdo works. So, for me anyway, the firmware update is titled: ratgdo_esp8266_v2.1.bin. And the update description would seem to indicate I need to update as I am using Home Assistant. But I now believe the update label means the firmware update is for esphome….not mqtt. So, as of right now, ratgdo works as advertised.
