Join Meryl Arnett {mama. meditator. teacher.} on Our Mindful Nature each week as we explore the deep connection between the land and Self through nature-based meditations and contemplative experiences that invite us back into belonging - to each other, our ancestors, the earth, and all beings that make up this universe.
Our Mindful Nature is the new name of The Mindful Minute podcast. I {Meryl} have been sharing meditation classes on this podcast for more than 8 years, and as of 2024, I felt it was time to update the name to more accurately reflect the content I share. You can continue to expect inspirational talks, guided meditations and occasional interviews. You can continue to expect classes centered on accessible, equitable, communal well-being primarily through nature-based meditations created through the lens of Tantric meditation and Spiritual Ecology.

Winter Solstice Guided Meditation; Live Retreat Recording
Today’s episode of Our Mindful Nature - a live recording of my Winter Solstice meditation retreat - is the perfect practice to welcome in the winter season. A mini meditation retreat you can do at home!
The Winter Solstice is always a discussion of light and dark. Mythology abounds, as do rituals of celebration and reflection.
In this class, you will hear some of the mythology surrounding the Winter Solstice. We will explore what it means to ‘harvest the fire’ in this season; we will talk about caves, bees, fire and honey.
At the end, you will experience a longer, guided meditation that takes you through a reflection of the year and an inquiry into what is to come next in 2025. You can use this as a time to set intentions for the season or the new year.
So grab your tea, light your fire, and settle in as we welcome Winter.
In this episode, you hear:
The Shortest Day by Susan Cooper
Wintering by Sylvia Plath
Sounds of the natural world recorded by Nick McMahan
I hope you enjoy! This is the last episode of 2024. We will back in 2025 with all new episodes, guests and practices to share ❄️🔥

Night Under the Stars {Winter Edition}; A Story from Glacier National Park
Переглядів 5721 день тому
There is something magical about the night sky and the winter woods; a place of dreams and possibility; a place of rest and restoration. In today’s episode of Our Mindful Nature, nature field recordist Nick McMahan shares a dreamscape from Glacier National Park. Not quite a guided meditation, not quite a sleep-story, but rather a meditative experience. A connection to both land and self. Perfec...
A Recipe for Feeling Seen: Breathing with Trees
Переглядів 215Місяць тому
Recently, I had a moment where I just didn’t feel seen. And later, as I was processing those feelings, I picked up James Crews’ newest book of poetry, Unlocking the Heart, and I opened to the poem, ‘The World Loves You Back’ - It was exactly what I needed to hear. That I/You/We are all seen for exactly who we are by the animate earth around us. That we aren’t alone. In today’s meditation class,...

I'm so glad <3 deep & light - love that description!
Another great meditation thank you!
Love this so much looking forward to next weeks meditation thank you
I'm so glad!! Green Witch coming your way on Thursday <3
this method goes in direct opposite way to what most people are taught. 'When in pain think of something nice...take your mind away'! Or simple deny that it hurts...it's nothing! THIS! This makes you explore the pain and be involved in it. I love the idea and I get it...but what if in extreme pain you try it and pain still hurts...it doesn't work?
it's a good question and hard to answer succinctly - I think the goal isn't to "take the pain away" but instead offer a different relationship/reaction to that pain. And always, if the pain is too much, you can/should take breaks and step away as you need to in order to support yourself. We are just slowly building comfort within our discomfort... <3 wishing you well.
@@ourmindfulnature thanks for the reply. It makes complete sense. It’s the relationship, yes. I’m so impressed by this, I’ve paid for a course by Andrew (via Tricycle).
This is extremely mind opening. It has extended my understanding about meditation. I feel hopeful and curious about learning more about them. With gratitude and appreciation 🙏
I'm so glad this was an expansive conversation for you; thank you for listening!
Very touching program to both of you Hi 👋 James
Thank you for this exceptional interview!

Thank you so much! I recently finished this book, and it was so powerful to hear Andrew talk about it and guide us into the practice.

I'm so glad! Thank you for listening <3
Love this meditation the body scan 😘😘
I'm so glad!!
Thank you for sharing this conversation. Yesterday I read "Lincoln in the Bardo" and it made me suspect that I am in a kind of bardo state. I had only heard the bardo state applied to the dead and wondered it if could also be applied to the living. I did some quick research on this that led me to Andrew's work and the answer to my question is "yes". I will practice this reverse meditation technique to help with letting go of unhealthy, outdated attachments.
I'm so glad you found this interview helpful. Bardo can absolutely apply to the living in my experience. Hope the practices here continue to support you.
Ive been that person that can sit here and it shows up without me doing anything. But usually only when im aligned
Amazing interview, I just bought the book! I love nature and journaling and seasonal living, this sounds right up my alley!
I’m so glad you enjoyed; love this book so much ❤
Karla said "when you say dont have judgments you say don't have boundaries". That too makes sense. I find it essential to make room for our own experiences and learn, progressively to decipher them. Engaging with our own experiences as not only a language of life but as an alive phenonmenon, like we say in french that a language is alive or dead meaning used or ancient and not much used.
"What is means, to create a safe space for you and your body in the room that you're in and your own experience? Yeah, I think it is really important to highlight this " Oh, my... thank you for saying this (at 13'14). Thank you for your work and having Karla talk with you. I felt deeply moved hearing what you said above as it create a sense of clearly I am not alone to see this importance of growing and learning about what really help us being who we are. Rémi
I'm so glad this conversation resonated with you! Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Love and peace to you both. I hope you feel the healing you are bringing to the world.❤❤❤❤❤

Beautiful!! Thank you!❤ I always feel an immense sense of peacefulness and joy when I listen to your podcasts and whilst I do frequently experience awe as I go about my day, this helps me hold on to it for a little longer and keep the magic flowing. Thank you 💖
I'm getting through the book on Audible. It's excellent and highly recommend it.

What a wonderful final meditation; I caught a glimpse of my fear and opened to it.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent interview! Thanks so much for sharing this!
I'm so glad you enjoyed!
Reverse meditation, kinda sounds like the practice performed by the Aghori that intentionally seek the abhorrent to break from the habitual good vs bad judgement. Speaking of which, I understand meditating helps you in your normal day-to-day living, but a deeper way is to use it as a tool to grasp the deeper nature of reality (Buddhadharma/liberation/ego or self-dissolution ). Siddhis suggest there are forms of meditating that allow you to perform extra-ordinary abilities, like alchemy, clairvoyance, astral projection and summoning aliens! However, do these practices help with your spiritual evolution? For example, I think bardo and Liminal dreaming would be in the same category as Yoga (Shambhavi Mahamudra), but not quite as powerful as Kundalini (ascetic)/ Tantra (the more esoteric practices of Hinduism/Buddhism), nor the the occult-like (Freemasons /Black-Magick/hermetic-order).
Hiyeee Meryl, I hope you see this and it finds you well. I hope you remember me from PI, you taught me to meditate back in 2016, seems so long ago. Thank you so much for opening my mind to the art of meditation. Congrats on all your accomplishments, I'll keep listening and meditating.
Hey Sean!!!! I LOVE that you found me here, and I am so glad to hear that yoga & meditation have made a difference for you. I'm actually back at PI teaching mindfulness & yoga again. It is such a special place. Hope you are well <3
Thank you for this, Meryl! Came at a time when I needed to hear it.
I'm so glad, Susan - thanks for watching!
