D Brian Plummer - Rare Documentary

A rare film broadcast in the early 80s following the late field sports author D Brian Plummer. A glimpse from another time. Footage of Vampire, Omega, Warlock & Beltane ratting. Also covers a lot of rural subjects including lurchers, rabbiting, Romany game cocks, foxing, coursing and more. He meets some great country characters along the way.
Brilliant educational video I've skipped thru it but going to save it to watch tonight, thanks
This is in no way a criticism of Phil or anyone else, more an observation. I thought chocolate was poisonous to dogs, unless it's their own variety, and I wouldn't expect Phil to eat that !
Know what you mean. He does refer to this in the film. Having read his books it was an occasional treat for the dog. A lifetime as a first rate stockman as PD was I'd say he probably knew what he was doing 👍
A really good film, I enjoyed that. Haven't had dogs for a few years after my last dog, a border had a few last difficult years before I had to put him down. Took the heart out of it. I do miss having dogs, I had an excellent bedlington/whippet/collie X I bought of a bloke in Six Hills, he must be long gone, best dog I ever had.
Not a very good role model for young people....... the music was well chosen
Fantastic to see this film, I remembered loads of the well known terrier men from all around the country. I used to love buying the year books from the game fair etc
Peter Cushing uses those stethoscopes in his movies! 🩺 God bless Jack - uplifting to be reminded of our roots.🙏🏻😇🙏🏻
Real countrymen, a rare species getting
Remember watching him as a very young kid, in the early eighties. Very educational and so interesting, nothing will be like it again
Beautiful country traditions. A fantastic day out.
These guys are amazing
A smiling Jack H.
Brings back fond family memories
So much knowledge. Please show all episodes from his television programmes again. Old country, How, out of town. It would be leagues ahead of the stuff broadcast these days.
Loved Jack from when I was young and still do.
All I remember was his program was on before Thunderbirds " ffs get this s hit off'
It sounds like a programme that shouldnt work in theory, but it certainly does. Who wouldn't love to spend the day with Jack? The perfect dinner party guest. Only the British could come up with this type of show. ...amd nake it an absolute success.
Jack left the army with the rank of Major, after serving on Field Marshall Montgomery's staff!
Wow never new that I used to sell him ferrets nice man rip
Werry interesting dogs.
You were (and in your videos kindly restored to us by Dave Knowles still are) a great and a good man, Jack Hargreaves. an icvon of my childhood and early teens. Thank you. RIP.
Why on earth would you use a Spanish tune to introduce an English rural broadcast?
I love the music, along with Jack’s show.
The Gentleman Country Man
come back jack because we need to know how to change a light bulb because most of us have not been educated enough to know how
He looked like that nonce......ah Harris!
Could some one tell the name of the song at the start of the video thank you
Southern Television was a superb franchise with quality programming. It was a scandal when it lost the franchise for Southern England in 1981.
Does anyone have the full video of this
I’ve got a working Lakeland. Most amazing dog I’ve ever had. Love him.
Thanks from the Netherlands
nowadays there is only crap on tv
God be with the days of simplicity
True Countrymen…favourite book… of Pedigree unknown….if your a Terrier, Lurcher fan I recommend reading..thank you for uploading 😊👍🏻
He was a turn coat that ruined terriers and terrier men for fame and fortune
@@ACshinealight true mate, he turned into an anti. Didn't he edit and re print Of Pedigree Unkown to make it safe.
Where are the Sealy's??
Great film ,i always loved terriers i have few types ,and most people have no clue what they were breed for seeing this make me somehow part from this huge no bounderies dog lovers who really found peace and comfort in those little but tenacious types of dogs.Respect
as a child i loved HOW on TV, especially JACK, he always came across as a person that was prepared to take time to explain things in detail. Miss his wisdom and knowledge.
I met David Brian plummer in approximately 1998.i live in Southport, Merseyside. I bred my bullmastif bitch "Jessy" .to a crufts champion stud.she had 9 puppies, 6 survived the cesarean section birth,I advertised the puppies for sale in exchange and mart. Brian plummer contacted me and came to view the puppies. He was so impressed with the pups and the mother, he bought 2 pups. Brother and sister. He paid me the full asking price of £600 per pup.He was a very knowledgeable and impressive man and I was very impressed with the way he lived his life.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Come on mate, Plummer was a fraud, that's common knowledge among true hunting men.
Oh yeh, what a man. The greatest author of fiction and other people's tales. 😅
@@bradbb8013 have you ever done anything of note ???

BRILLIANT, FROM SURREY.
A wonderfully knowlegable man, a one off, never equalled.
Great video, thanks. The closing music from the Killing Fields was "Imagine" by John Lennon.
Drove past his house many times, but never had the pleasure of meeting the great man.
Brilliant, too many terriers being cross bred these days
Good ol' Jack. Quite a lady's man in his day. 😎
44:43 . . Hells fire, I never knew Jimmy Saville was into a bit diggin..
🤣
He certainly outshone anyone else in this with his quality as a broadcaster and a spokesperson about a multitude of subjects ..they don’t make them like Jack any more 😞
teachers these days should study the past traditions and teach the children this useful knowledge so that they have a good life in the future and maybe learn how to look after them selfs without money .and only the tools they have to hand ,we were taught this when we were young by our parents our grand parents and a bit they taught us at school.
