Have you ever looked back at all the games you've bought, spread out over multiple online stores, consoles and physical disks, and wondered how you got into this mess? Well you're not alone. Join me pilgrim as we undertake a mission most profound, cast off the shackles of constant consumer purchasing, and instead try to complete every game in our Steam backlog! They said it was impossible. They might be right. Let's find out. Time to beat Steam.
A Post Human Story: Metal Gear Rising Retrospective | Steam Pilgrimage
In today's retrospective, we discuss the themes and ideas of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and see what kind of lessons we can learn from Raiden's journey. What does it have to say about current politics, the status quo and human nature? Can the choices of a cybernetic ninja fighting a nanomachine infused American Senator really apply to our everyday lives? I argue yes.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Retrospective | Steam Pilgrimage

Another May the 4th, another day to reflect on a great Star Wars game with an in depth retrospective. The Force Unleashed was the first game I played to deliver a real Star Wars experience and story. Even though other games like Kotor, and Jedi Academy would later outclass it, The Force Unleashed will always have a special place on my list of favourite games. ANOTHER Dark Souls Retrospective | Steam Pilgrimage

Yes I am releasing this retrospective the day Elden Ring comes out, because I hate myself. From Software's Dark Souls is a titan to take on and try to analyse, and I really hope I was able to do it justice. This video is just as much an homage to the amazing creators who have fostered a sense of community around this game as it is about the game itself! A video this big is tough to keep track o...

Super Grandia Turbo HD Remaster Review | DanDoesSteam Ep 0.5
One thing ive always enjoyed about soul reaver 1 was learning enemy location in areas and then insta staking them from mileage away , never gets old, oh and just how perfect the controls have aged , playing the remaster i aint lost my touch or they were always just the most perfect controls ever not sure which
@@darran311 for this review, I played on the pc with ReWASD so it was a bit Jank, but I think I remember them being OK on the PlayStation!
@dandoessteam793 I've tried Rewasd on a few games and results do vary
So many irish people doing UA-cam in the last 10 years, refreshing to see
About the very beginning of Blood Omen, if you know how the game works, you can kill every assassin. When you go down the road, more will come, but you can kill them. Iirc, you can break the game, because you might kill them all, being unable to progress further, but I won't stay by it. I've tried doing that a very long time ago and what I can remember for sure is that you surely can kill those, that meet you right as you leave the tavern.
It's really stupid when people compare graphics from 20+years ago.
"Soul reaver isn't a Souls-like game, Souls games are... I will come up with a good pun [later]" Souls games are Soul Reave-ting games. You're welcome.
Blood Omen 2 has a special place in heart, it gave me everything I wanted as kid, to be able to play as vampire, with great main character, environmental storytelling everything, and then legacy of Kain Defiance which was excellent, but u kept having to rent it as I couldn’t find it anywhere to buy, only my local games store which rented it out. Legacy of Kain defiance I’ve just found on Steam on sale for 83p, so at one point I’m going to play that and actually complete the game. Nostalgia trip there. Why I love PC LOL
46:28 and now there’s a soul reaver 1+2 remaster coming 😂
I was hoping for a full remake of the series, but I'll take it!
You misspelled Quelaag. Great video, I'm two years late!
Never too late to correct my awful spelling 😭
How does this channel not have more subscribers???
Legacy of kain series was supposed to be a total of 8 games but we only got 5😢
Free will is an illusion, history abhors a paradox, vae victis, call your dogs they can feast on your corpses. So many great lines.
Fun fact that soul reaver 1 and 2 were supposed to be 1 game but the story was so big it had to be split into 2 games. Thats why the 2 d soul reaver was shorter than the first.
Cheatcodes were everything
I've been on a LoK retrospective binge these are so awesome.
Great work on a great game <3 thank you!
well written edited video , hope you keep the good content I love this game and your video is top Quality
Here 2 years later, UE5 Lok please god.
I remember playing this game and it being clunky and that made it rather difficult later on with the harder enemies and constant blocking but I also got good at the combat eventually and The Hyldan is a tough boss too🙃I still enjoy the story too! It makes sense with the rest of the overarching story as it was a timeline created from a paradox.
The voice acting in Soul Reaver is still some of the best ive heard of the Ps1 era games. It definitely outweighs the look of it now. And I still play some of these games again every once in awhile. I recommend Soul Reaver to any gamer.
New legacy of kain game same graphics and camera angles as blood omen one, just have it all pretty, lovely style game. Bangin soundtrack.
Sadly this series disappeared before i was old enough to get into it, but i remember playing soul reaver on my uncles dreamcast or ps1 idk which and being too scared to go past the first area with all the water 😂
Game Developer studios would use book writers for these types of stories and Legacy of Kain’s favorite phrase ‘Vae Victis’ came from Marvel comic’s Namor phrase 'Imperius Rex'.
Just found this video, sad to see you haven't got enough recognition. Great video, keep it up 👍
Darth Mickey sees all. The "Bane" of my "Head Canon" (Legends/EU) existence. *Shake my fist* Curse you Disney!
Great video. I was an early fan of LoK. I absolutely loved this game. I was wholly captivated with this game for a year or more. I loved the sequels Blood Omen 2 and Defiance, but the Soul Reaves cousin games didn't quote capture my imagination like the Kain games did. I loved the vampire and Nosgoth lore. I always hoped some novels would come from this series...
your title card says "restrospective" lol
I never had any problem with controlling Kain in Blood Omen 2, and I didn't have any trouble with the lock-on system. Really, I always thought Soul Reaver 1 was far more of a chore to play. Also, the game started development after Soul Reaver 1. So it was stuck in development Hell with a smaller team and a tighter budget, where they had to scrap everything and start over at least once.
I didn't know Maria canal was in this game
"Taverns closing, best be on your way stranger There are things to come with the night that sane man should welcome"
the bed of chaos bugs dont respawn as they are the last daughters irrc?
Blood Omen 2 will always be special to me despite how bad it is. When I was a kid I had a kidney disease and was going through chemo and all kinds of nasty shit. During an especially rough time I had to miss school for about a month and my class raised money to buy me a video game since I was stuck at home in between stays at the hospital. To this day I have no idea how my teacher landed on an M-Rated sequel to a game she had no clue if I had ever played or not but I was happy with it. I was actually a big fan of Soul Reaver 1 and 2 and had played through most of Blood Omen, but it’s still baffling to me why my catholic school teacher decided to get me Blood Omen 2.
That does sound like a lovely memory!
They must have asked someone who knew
I can’t believe this franchise hasn’t tried to cash in on the immense popularity of Souls-like games. I feel like it would fit perfectly.
Sweet Jesus, no. LOK always leaned much farther towards power fantasy, which Souls-like games are not. I hate Souls-likes because I'm primarily interested in story, music, and voice acting, with gameplay of tertiary concern. I know a lot of LOK fans are the same.
Why do you only have so low subs man? Great content, keep it up!
this is wonderful
good video
The series never became bigger because of gameplay.
I actually really like Blood Omen 2. To be fair a lot of fans love all of the series in all.
Blood Omen 2 is the most fun game in the series. The Gamecube version is the definitive way to play it.
I’m pretty certain none of this series was planned out. There was originally a prequel to Blood Omen planned, but that was before Soul Reaver became part of the series. Amy Hennig probably just knew to tap into some ideas that may have been used in a prequel, by making time travel be a big focus on having characters go back to times before when Blood Omen was set. I beat William using the fire sword too. You definitely don’t need to use the reaver. If it were planned, it probably would have been mandatory that you use it. The Soul Reaver was barely part of the plot in Blood Omen. Kain wasn’t even shown using it in the cutscenes. Soul Reaver and all subsequent games just did a great job in making it very relevant to the overall story. Regarding what you said at the end, the reaver just needs to end up back in Avernus Cathedral, for all the events of the timeline to happen. I’m not sure hatbwoukd happen if Raziel’s purified soul struck his body again, though. The series was supposed to have concluded in the Soul Reaver 1 era, with the Elder God showing up later in that timeline for the final battle. I would have liked to see the Hylden explored more too. There was a lot more to them than the Sarafan Lord, who was a very generic bad guy. I reckon in order for them to be as big a threat as Kain makes out, they’d need to show up later in the timeline, even after the Sarafan Lord was defeated.
Love your videos man. You and arkham666 or whatever his name is, two of my fav review/retrospective channels who don’t have nearlyyyyyy as many subs as they should. Just the right amount of information and humour along with a generous runtime.
The studio that did the animated Castlevania series on Netflix handling the series and giving it a proper conclusion wouldn't be the worst thing in the world 😅😅
Its crazy how this part is actually the "end" to the series. The end of the circle. The closed Loop. All in all i like it, but, either the time circle was predestined, so kain should have known this from the beginning of SR1, or it just unfolded on the way (but was still presdestined), but then kain should at least known about it when they actively changed the stream in SR2, but he only went "oh nose, the HILDEN!!!" well yeah, duh, chill, they are gone already again. Well, i guess too much time travel roasts your brain.
The Kain in Blood Omen 2 is from a 4th timeline so the ending is ambiguous whether his rule will be different or not from original Kain.
"Morbius foretold mine eons ago" in Soul Reaver 2 47:08 . If I'm not mistaken, he uses the same line in Soul Reaver 1, but says "...a millenia ago". Did saying a millenia mess up their timeline or at least limit storytelling flexibility?
I had to go back and check, you're right! I think they mis spoke when they say "millenia" in the first game, as nearly 2000 years have passed since kain was raised at this point. Unless its an indication that this is a younger kain, but we tend to always see kain at his furthest point in the timeline
1:14:43 that bleep almost turned me deaf. Please be more careful for the sake of headphone users. Great job otherwise, thumbs up.
If I ever won the lottery I would buy this IP and remaster it
Agreed! If you win dm me and we'll write a plan!
In case anyone is wondering by the way, the "accent" George uses (13:29) is actually a language called Guyanese Creole. Even though it sounds kind of funny and is used for laughs in the game, this would actually be how many people in Guyana speak, although it's only used informally. That being said, the accent is pretty funny with the little translations, like Dan said, lol.
How the fuck does this only have 150 views? The quality is something I’d expect to see from a channel with 500k+ subs, not 400.
Thanks so much dude, I'm glad you like it!
half way through i forgot that this channel only had 400 subscribers the quality is fucking astounding
Thanks for the kind words dude!
Erm it's actually Te-cum-sah

The video is metal gear SOLID!
