Well for 1968 it was ahead of it’s time as Elvis was through out his life. Like your comments. So many of the un converted have some funny pre conceptions when they think of Elvis Presley. This is until they take the time to watch and actually listen to the guy understand where Elvis fitted into musical history and the role he played in charge that allowed us all to enjoy what came after. Once educated on who Elvis is people not only appreciate him but all to often become fans and some become true fans.

I was 10 ft from the stage outdoors in London Ontario in Canada, watching these guys rip these songs! Its my favorite Christmas song & needs to be better known.

Something that I never appreciated when I first listened to this song is context. Everything I had heard before was "shite" because this song came in an era when sound was improving and musicians were expanding what was possible, and it was awesome. Sound is so much better now and musicians have built on these guys and taken things forward. Music should always be listened to in the context of what was around at the time and these guys were as good as anyone in their era. For me, the combination of Gillan's voice, Lords Hammond and Blackmore's guitar has never been bettered in the rock world.

Keyboards of Billy Preston (behind the stage) deserve the highest esteem here. So good that you've marked it.

Everyone else pales in comparison to FREDDIE MERCURY … as you grow in years you will see this .

Agree this should join the Christmas playlist. The video was a new addition. Hope you have listened to some of early Queen early - particularly STONE COLD CRAZY live at the Rainbow 1974 (said to be early Thrash Metal). LOTS of gems out there, beyond the Queen you hear regularly...Have a Merry Holly-Day and thanks for giving this a listen!
