Great Grey Owl (Strix nebulosa) flies towards the camera and eats a mouse
This wild, but tame Great Grey Owl is still actively "hunting" out in the open and is enjoying herself posing to the cameras near Oulu, Finland. See a new set of Harri Taavetti's images at finnature.fi/photo_album.html.15.html. In this video She flies to catch a mouse and eats it directly in front of camera and flies away.

Great owl
А что? Больше не подкинут ? Жаль, ..., Мало !
"Am I looking good from this angle, or am I looking good from this angle?"
Can an owl swoop down, eat prey, then sit there and locate another, fly up while keeping location on the prey, then swoop down and catch it? Do owls always have to hunt from a high perch?

Baiting in is a great way to get the shot.
Baiting Wild animals isn't helpful to Nature as Humans in many cases are dangerous but since Nature is heavily persecuted by our general actions I'd say it neutralises this baiting. Depending on what Owls being fed & frequency
Animale eccezionale.. stupendo ,)
nice
🥰🦉
Beautiful gray 🦉 owl
That owl looks very healthy and well fed lol
Norvegia
I came here to see the mouse. The horror.
Beautiful, gorgeous girl she is! Cute puffy round head, I want to kiss her!!!
Owl: what are you staring at?
Wow forte
Ciao buona sera wow
was this in alaska?
thanks for posting
Baiting wild animals is dangerous and unethical birding/photography. Don’t support such activities.
I like owl bird
Dumb. Not natural. All so you can get pictures
You tricky the owl
I love how he looks at the camera for a second after landing, "is this for me? :)"
Awesome video🦉♥️
What a beautiful owl it is.
So you threw a live mouse at this owl just because you wanted to get the shot that badly? Amateur.
this is not ethic at all. shame on you.. only for photos..
what an absolute douchebag for doing this ....
Why?
I swear Negative people crack me up!!!! I love Owls they are beautiful birds and if they want to interact with humans its their right if not they don't have to!!!! I'm not going sneak up on one and grab it and say Gotcha Bitch... That a way to get its Talons put on you roughly. And if one ever landed on me I'm not going to freak out ether!!!
Great video! Very enjoyable! Greetings.
IT sckare
Go to hell.
WILD life photography, what a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So alert when on the ground after eating.....the owl knows it's vulnerable......simply amazing !
I can not even imagine that any animal aby life-form could be more beautiful and might he improved.. This owl is just an example how brilliant mother-Nature or ... How great G*d is. It's imposible to understand...
A masterpiece of GOD♥️
Terrible...this guy is baiting owls, and causing them to become habituated. All for the sake of a stupid photo...shame on him...highly unethical!!!!!
when you say habituated do you mean teaching it to not fear humans? which presumably would be bad because they'd seek them out for food decreasing their chances of survival in the wild? I'm taking up animal behaviour at a college and have a little bit of trouble remembering all the terms and what they mean
And they are making business of that, bringing tourists to those places for photography. Finnature Oy is the firm.
So beautiful, thank you for sharing this incredible video!
u know that's not good to do, but u do it any way.
that look haha 00:20
very awesome and huge bird. North America's largest owl and in terms of length, the largest in the world.
Fuck your annotations, dude!
LOL love it!!
do owls attack humans ? how dangerous are they to people. I'm from new Jersey I've seen 3 owls in my life and they looked tougher then tough
Incredible and stunningly beautiful bird
ne eule aus legende der wächterxD
Lol, before this was posted on Reddit had 40k views for over 5 years, now it has 85,000
This isn't a tame owl, you are manipulating her using live food that is otherwise hard to find and using baiting in order to pretend to be a wildlife photographer. Baiting is highly unethical and will habituate her to humans, so eventually she will likely hurt herself or a human. Please consider sitting and letting nature actually takes it course. This is not wildlife photography.
+Ciconiiformes Just like it for what it is , why comment and troll here, if you don't support baiting then don't watch it, People like you with bird feeders and Hummingbird sugar water feeders or that have fed a duck some bread at a local park are just as guilty just can't seem to admit it to themselves, Hypocrites. Be glad he is just shooting with a camera man and not doing like so many hunters do maybe not with owls specifically but their are people that bait to shoot and shoot to kill. Go bother them not someone that fed an owl its natural prey for some beautiful photos and video
+mack1time It's unethical and I like these fake wildlife photographers to know that they aren't talented. This doesn't take work. This isn't how a national geographic photographer gets "the shot". And feeding prey animals is VERY different from feeding a predator, and feeding bread is horrible for birds. It would be helpful for you to understand predator/prey dynamics and behavior before commenting and pretending that you know anything. Any decent photographer, bird watcher, hawk watcher or biologist knows this is bad, and I want this person to be aware of why they are a shitty human being. Let nature be natural, don't interfere so you can get "likes" on UA-cam and Facebook.
What a beautiful animal.
