4/27/2022 - We did a complete self-tour of Historic Columbia but the sites were underwhelming. For example, an alleged encampment from the Civil War is now the front yard of a home built in the last ten years (?). There was really nothing to see. HOWEVER, the State House was really cool! Go! Newbies learning about NASCAR at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, NC!
Thanks for sharing.. Going this weekend.
Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoyed your adventure there! It's a cool town, for sure.
Flood gates are actually rarely opened, only 3 times in the last 11 years and had been like 50 years befoire that. I was there in the July '13 opening and it was quite a spectacle. The water rose up over the floor level of the boardwalk you are on there.
Yeah, I've heard it's very rare. It must have been a real treat to witness that in person! Thank you for watching!
The orb weavers are totally harmless. If you get one on you, just stand still and let it bumble around until it falls off. All they wanna do is get away from you. They will not bite. Usually if you tippy toe and drop down on your heels, they’ll fall off of you.
Yes! We have learned much more about them since that video. We're in the upstate and are now seeing them around here as well. In fact, we have a huge one living between the trees in our front yard. We check in on "him" every day! He's just living his best life out there. 😆
Please don't palm smack your camera. I'm 65 and don't appreciate someone's hand coming directly at my face.
A short distance past Yonah dam is Old Union Baptist Church. The road to the left of the church will take you to 5 FREE campsites.
My god how F'ing cringe.
Visit the mansions on the hills to the left of the town. Saluda, up the road is a great place to visit and eat at the Wildflour Bakery or The Purple Onion.
We've eaten at Purple Onion before! It was great! We'll have check out those mansions next time we are up that way. Thanks for watching!
A picture of a peach and a sign that says, “we produce more peaches than Georgia!” Would have been cheaper and easy to understand! 😅
🤣 Truth.
Shave that beard buddy
🤣
Scheduled generation starts at 12 minutes before the hour. Within 10 to 15 minutes the generators can be running full load. That’s said, maintenance can start a unit anytime to test components at any time or if a running unit goes down and they need a unit not running. It will then start.
Interesting!
Love Brevard NC...I Fly fish in the area and have been many times. O.P. Taylors is one of the most amazing Toy Stores you will ever visit. There used to be an old book store I liked to browse in, but it's closed now. I also heard the rumor about the College being a great place to view a White Squirrel; spent a good bit of time there and never saw a single one. "The Hub" is a great stop for Mountain bikers...Davidson River Outfitters is a great stop for Fly Fishermen. Mantiques is an interesting store. A block over from the street you were on, there is "Mikes"...a cafe that serves Italian food / pizza.
We'll check out Mike's next time we are up there!! That's a great little town!
Nice video, thanks! Question: Can I get onto Lake Keowee from Lake Hartwell?
Thank you for watching! That's an interesting question. I took a look and, from what I can see, I would say no. I can't guarantee that, but I can't find any true connections from one to the other.
Not gonna lie, I was debating if I wanted to give up a little details on The Looking Glass Waterfall but you can swim in the water under the waterfall not too deep maybe 5 feet absolute max. I love, love looking glass. Its my happy place.
We loved it there too! I bet that a refreshing swim on a hot summer's day. Might have to bring the trunks next time around. 🤣
Mayberry’s is my absolute favorite… but I will say I love it so much I have yet to try anything else lol
Yes! Thank you for watching!
Tugaloo is pronunced Too ga low
Thanks for the info! We got that one all wrong!! 🤣🤣
The Prather House I live 2 miles from it and grew up here. It is pronounced Pray ther not Prat ther.
Thank you, again for the info! And thank you for watching!!
There are lots of white squirrels around Franklin Park where you went. They are the very same squirrels as the common grey squirrels just with a white coat variant. They are not albinos and most have a small grey patch on the back of the head or even a streak down the back. Whites can be born to greys or be a part of a mixed litter of both whites and greys. There are other places in the US that have white squirrels, but not in the numbers that we have in Brevard. Thank you for this lovely video of our beautiful town.
We had a great time there! It's a beautiful little town. Thank you so much for watching!
I know it looks like it might be different but it’s actually pronounced “Two - ga - low”. And regarding the Prather house (pronounced “Pray - ther”), Confederate General Robert Toombs avoided capture by the invading damn yankees by secreting away in a closet of the house during one of their searches.
Yeah!! That spelling is definitely deceiving! Thanks for the insight and thank you for watching. You learn something new each day.
@@getlostwithjustinkris certainly not meant as a criticism, I truly enjoyed the video! And I learned something new about the relocation of that center section of the broken bridge. I gotta go exploring and find that.
@@sparkplug0000 Glad you enjoyed it. We had a good time on that trip!
19:16 is where I live. There are a bunch of us back in there. RMPOA :P That isn't Table Rock but the stone quarry on Hwy. 281 by Sapphire and Toxaway Mountain has the towers on it.
Lucky you! What a beautiful place! And thanks for clearing that up about a Table Rock. We weren't sure about that one. Lol.
Looks like you had a good time!
We did!! Thank you!!
Hartwell Lake is also impressive after a multi-year drought. Lots of Georgia and Carolina red clay exposed when the lake level drops close to twenty feet over time.
We really like visiting the lake! It beautiful there.
Pretty place! Thanks for sharing! Hi Kris!! : )
Hi Janet!
Also with that building you guys are talking about from gone with the wind I was also the episode of Ghost hunters
Yes! I knew about the Gone With The Wind thing but I did not know about the Ghost Hunters part. Very cool!!
Good video, although I was disappointed that Trinity Church wasn’t in it.
Wow! We didn't even know about that. I just looked it up. Very cool place! We'll have to visit the church next time we're in town. Thanks for letting us know!
Guys, I love your channel. I just visited Glendale. (I think the park is called Glendale Shoals.) In summer, it's overflowing with lush vegetation. I like the falls... and the rapids below... the best. On the west bank, there is a small row of a few old storefronts made from the stones there. The old storefronts are amazingly being "reclaimed" by the vegetation... a photographer's dream.
Yes, we did see the row of old storefronts! Those were cool, for sure. Between that, the falls, the mill, etc, there is a LOT to see there. Thank you so much for watching!
I like the hartwell dam alot
Us too! It's a cool place!
Very nice video thanks for sharing all the cool stops and sights. Going today for brevard tubing on the french broad river.
Nice!! We hope you had fun! We enjoy Brevard quite a bit. Thank you for watching!
Your channel just popped up on my feed today. I'm so excited to watch your travels. I live near Easley and am always looking for fun and interesting places to take my granddaughters when they come visit. We've taken them to Tiny Town every year (for the oldest one it's been 8 yrs) and the youngest enjoyed her first Tiny Town visit this past Christmas. We have enjoyed talking to the family members by the fire who keep this sweet gem going. It's so kind they do this. I agree, donate something if you go. I'm on my way to watch another video😁
That's so great!! We're thrilled to hear you are enjoying our videos! The family that runs that place really is keeping a fun tradition going. We very much enjoyed our visit there. Thank you for watching!!!
I been there at like 10:00 pm at night, it was pretty terrifying lol
Really?? Wow. I dunno if I could do it. I bet it's scary!
Thank you for this video! I'm going there tomorrow and I was a bit worried about taking the dog, but I think she'll like it!
Nice!! I hope you enjoy it there! It's such a beautiful place.
That looks like a great adventure! Caverns are so cool!
Thanks, my friend!!
What a beautiful area too (Blue Ridge Mountain)
It really is! We enjoyed our day there!
The disparaging remarks were appropriate considering what occurred from the specific business but to lump the entire town into is another matter.... and it was a 4" x 5" ad in the Variety...
Thanks for the clarification on the ad. And yeah, 100% agreed, you shouldn't lump the whole town into one or just a few peoples' comments. It's a beautiful town and we want to come back soon!
¡Adios!
I noticed you guys mention Tahoe... in my teens and 20s I lived in Auburn and used to go to Tahoe regularly. I love it there, its my standard for mountain lakers and mountains. checking your videos it looks like you moved to South Carolina 2 years ago, Im in Florida right now and looking to move to Anderson, SC in May '23. what made you want to move there? and how are you enjoying it since you've been there?
Hi!! We are very familiar with Auburn! We lived in Citrus Heights, just outside of Sacramento and both (at different times) worked in Auburn. It's a nice little town. We moved here for the company I worked for in 2019. We actually love it here. It's a great place to live. Although, the rapid growth in the Upstate is making it a more difficult place to be, little by little. Still, no regrets. We love SC. Thank you for watching!!!
@@getlostwithjustinkris what town do you live in?
i just passed you on 85
Good ol' 85. Thanks for saying hi!
Definitely enjoyed the video Great music. I'd like to have a bobblehead Moose. Where can if find one?
Thank you! That was a fun one to make. As far as the bobblehead? It was a gift. I did find a few place online to buy it. It's called "Batty Bargains Mighty Bobblehead Moose with Auto Dashboard Adhesive". I hope you find one!!
Isn't this camp greenville?
Yessir!! Symmes Chapel a.k.a. A Pretty Place is located at Camp Greenville. Such a wonderful and breathtaking view from there. Thanks for watching!!
Visit the Savannah rapids here in Augusta,Ga or our Riverwalk
Yes!! We were just talking today about doing a video in Augusta. We will definitely keep that in mind. Thanks for watching!
I see you made the out of towners mistake when you took the left on the town square and headed up a one way street backwards. This town square really confuses many people. Glad you enjoyed
Had to go back to see but, yes!! We did go the wrong way! Had no idea. Thanks for pointing that out and thank you for watching. Abbeville is such a great town!!
They had scenes from that movie also at Erskine College you saw in due west
Great video! I’m 53 and grew up on Clark Hill Lake….remember when Lake Russell started in the early 80’s! Lake Hartwell always seemed the constant when me and my family were heading past Clemson to our family house in highlands NC….driving up 28….
Thank you so much! We enjoyed making this one. Sounds like you have some good memories in that area. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing.
Glad you liked it!! Thanks for watching!
We loved watching everyone drinking the soda from Italy!! It was super funny!! I dont know who could drink that soda!! LOL
OMG. It was so nasty. 😒 Lol!!!! Glad we got to try them, though. That was quite an adventure.🤣
Behind you in traffic 😂
Nice!! Hope we weren't speeding!
Thanks for sharing! Is there any way to know if / when Tiny Town is open for exploring?
That's a great question! Unfortunately, it's one that I cannot confirm due to lack of a website or any real online presence on behalf of Tiny Town. What I can tell you (based on our personal experience) is that it open from 5:30pm to 10pm every day and that it goes from "just after Thanksgiving" until New Year's Eve. You might give it a few days after Thanksgiving to make sure, but this has been a tradition for decades, so I feel it's a safe gamble. I only wish there was phone number or website to reference. That's the best advice I can offer. Best of luck on your adventure!!
I was just there two weeks ago with my son…I only went so far as Chimney Rock itself…my son went the rest of the way up…my dislike for heights kicked in..
I get it. I'm not a fan of heights either. But that view is stunning! Thanks for watching!
I was watching until she kept talking about vegetarian options. I'll find another video to watch on Fall for Greenville.
You have our sincerest apologies for being vegetarian.
We did the landscaping on that house Julia Robert's lived in while making the movie
Very cool! Did you get to meet her?
Seen you this morning in traffic get going !!
Thanks for reaching out!! We are always on the move, sometimes on-the-quick!
