5VZ FE Coolant Temp Sensor Inspection and Replacement!
Was your Idle high btw ?
It was not (as far as I remember it was always low)
I replaced my sensor and wire and still throwing the coolant temp sensor code. The truck is very hard to start in the morning. Is there any other sensor? My gauge is readying accurate. Not sure what’s causing the CEL code to go off.. any ideas?
There's a lot of info here. What oil weight are you using? And what temperature is it in your location?
From what I understand there are two sensors. There is a single wire one on back of engine that sends signal to temp gauge. The other, double wire near front, sends a signal to the ECU to control air/fuel mixture. (Is this correct)
Unsure about a rear gauge sensor. I've never had to replace anything behind the engine (electrical)
Are those 50 amp connectors?
The link in the description says 175A
1978-1984
excellent video ! where can I find the inlet ducting for air intake to this truck?
We were able to salvage it from a donor truck that we had- the one we got the dashboard from. I was unable to find it all in 1 location online
Is there any vtec f22b engines ? Because my buddy had an engine swap done about a year ago and the motor that’s in it is an f22b but its sohc and vtec. But it seems to be the same as this motor swap
Great question. The engine in this video is the F22B1, it has a sister, the F22B2, which is the vtec variant of the same engine!
@ weird yeah we got an f22b single cam vtec and we don’t know anything about it
F22B2 hss the same block as F22B1, same internals in block, same everything except head.
Nice video. I got a badlands apex 12000 that I have mounted to a hitch mount. It's rated at 448A at full load. I'm having trouble finding cable to run from the battery to the back of my truck. Any suggestions?
Call an electrician and ask where you can buy 2 lengths of 30 feet of 2/0 insulated wire. They'll probably know a store you've never heard of and you can get it there. That's how it went for me and at least 2 other people who I know have done this
Almost any automotive parts house can get the 2/0 gauge multi strand wire you need. They sell it by the foot and it ain't cheap. Current NAPA (overpriced) is $11.49 per foot. O'Rielly's at $6ft
@@accountant_mechanic_ 2 gauge is nowhere near big enough for that much amperage. Do you mean 2/0?
No I meant 2 gauge because that's what I used, but a little research tells me that I SHOULD have used 2/0. Thanks for letting me know, I've edited my comment so future viewers don't make my mistake
Is this good for boost? And aftermarket??
What size wire was the winch cable wire?
Hello there, sorry for the late reply. I believe it was 2/0!
Show us your skills internet people!
This has been sold to a fellow from Montana with a LC collection 🙌🏼
what size cable did you run from the battery to the rear of the truck
Sorry for the late reply, I ran standard winch wire, which I believe is 2/0!
@@accountant_mechanic_ sounds great- did you do any winching from the rear location- and there were no problems?- hot wires? lack of winch power?
Nothing hot. I ran it through a plastic sleeve to protect it. I only ever winched once from the back to get the truck onto a trailer. I kept the idle up so I didn't notice any power issues
@@accountant_mechanic_ Nice Thanks- Great Video
I purchased one and fitted it. It is very hard to lift up. Some European bikes that I owned in the 70s it just had to grab it and pull it backwards and it got up. I think the reason why it’s so hard to lift because it’s slightly long. I might cut an inch out of it and weld it back together, cheers.
Let me know how it goes!
These engines also cost a arm and a leg
Fair trade
My truck just goes to the middle ever time I start it and it stays there doesn’t seem to move any idea bro ?
That seems normal for a 5vz-fe
@@accountant_mechanic_ really ? Even right off the bat ? Like it’s 36 degrees out side it start the truck it does the swipe to the top then goes to the middle and doesn’t move
Oh that's weird
@@alexisflores6048check/replace your thermostat?
@@RaiderVic530 replaced thermostat still does same thing . I
Woah woah woah.. I own a 97 accord f22b1 with a 5 speed and I "can" get around 32 if I granny shift.. I realistically get around 22 lol and 260 miles of driving for every 10 gallons

I believe it's a '83...my '81 has a double row timing chain and both of my son's '83 had a single row which we switched to a double row...
- The hood isn't quest power, its the EP82 Starlet scoop grafted onto the Sera hood 😀 (Edit: unless its FRP?) - I've got the EP82 Starlet Rear disc brakes on my Sera that came with drums. - I'm running EP82 Starlet BC Racing coilvers on my Car as well, also Whiteline do EP82 stuff like sway bars (even a rear one) - That headlight wiring looks easy to manage. - Fog lights in a full set are pretty rare, I sold a single plus a damaged one years ago and the brackets because I didn't like their look against the bumper I have. - Those headlight tabs always break, either metal brackets or plastic welding, I've seen some one 3D print a glue new tabs on. - Shifter will be another EP82 compatible part (Edit, Tercel/Cynos/Paseo also the same)
GREAT INFO! THE HOOD IS FRP. I CAN SEND YOU A PIC ON INSTAGRAM :-) WE NEED TO TALK BRAKES AND SUSPENSION IN THE FUTURE!

Wow never heard of this car before. Very nice. That rear end looks the same as a mazda 323f tho.

Hi! Im a Sera owner here in the Philippines, and from my experience in sourcing out information and parts for this car, the Toyota Sera facebook groups are very helpful.
Thank you - I've joined several groups but it seems like response time can also be a factor. I'm looking on Yahoo Auctions Japan, and have had minimal luch there. Have you ever seen the fog lights for sale?
Ayy the Sera the fancier cousin to my paseo. The Será and a Toyota Starlet gt Turbo ep82 are on my list of cars I want to own.
