Hey, will the Baryl and the Slate have the same power to receive bad wifi in hotels in terms ob bandwidth? I mean, if the hotel Wi-Fi is really bad, will the slightly bigger antennas receive better connection? What do you guess?
I have had better luck with the Slate AX connecting and maintaining public wifi networks that had a weak signal.
@TechWithT thanks for the quick answer. So I guess the bigger antennas will do their job. 🤷🏻♂️ I wanted to take the smaller and lighter one. But the most important thing is to have enough bandwidth to be able to use videocalls. So you suggest the bigger one then. Thank you!😊
If you suspect the signal might be weak then I would most definitely recommend the Slate AX for your trip.
Ar750 ext still my favorite. And the one I use when i travel.
I still have my AR750EXT and use it for IOT devices. But having said that at this point, the performance is just not there. You can flash firmware 4.0 to it as well which let's you get access to the newer UI and tools.
@@TechWithT I flashed the current firmware from their website but I would love to have Auto-Enable Login Mode for Public Hotspots Enable Camouflage Options for this router I got zerotier working on it perfectly.
Hi, are you maybe still using this router? Any issues?
I have since upgraded to the Flint 2 as the main router for home and using this in the office. No issues with either one.
So one single port used is 40W ?
Yes.
If you had to pick one... which are you picking?
Slate AX it would be for the performance.
Help !!! I bought a Gravity C1 Adam, what are best? These or Adam Brand? Mi ingles es malo 😂 no sean malos Quiero comprar un cargador cuál sería mejor el Gravity C1 o este cargador 😢?
I haven't tested the Adam brand but this Baseus battery has been functioning great.
Which on is batter??? Please reply Baseus Power Bank 20000mAh 20W Magnetic Mini Wireless Fast Charge Power Bank Black For Iphone 15 14 13 12 Series PPCX150001 Or Anker 20000mAh Powerbank 22.5W Built In USB C Cable A1647
I havent tested either one of them.
Hi T, thanks for the review! Just got the baseus battery pack and plugged it in to charge it. I'm wondering if it's working properly because all the lights are off. so it doesn't look like it's charging. When I presse the power button it'll blink several times.. Could it be that it's not working properly? Should I return it?
Yes that sounds like you have a defective unit.
@@TechWithT Thanks for your quick answer. I'll return it right away!
I want to use this on the road. Will it overheat when using it in 100 deg temp?
Yes you might run into some issues given 100°F is on the higher end of its operating temp.
Is it possible to turn of 2.4 WiFi and just use 5ghz? Also have you plugged in anything to the Ethernet ports and measured the power draw?
Yes, you can turn off the 2.4ghz network and keep it on 5ghz only. I haven't used it in a POE application but when used as a router ethernet cord connected to the WAN port there wasn't any additional power draw.
For someone working at a call center with a VPN on their work PC, the primary factors affecting latency will be the routeur's ability to handle multiple connections efficiently, its processing power, and its network optimization capabilities, what is the best pick ?
I would recommend the Slate AX.
Estos audifonos utilizan alguna app para la configuración? O para enlasarlos? Gracias
Sorry don't think there is any app available for fine tuning or performing firmware updates.
I charged my iPhone from this power bank only once a year ago. And now the power bank doesn't work or charge, I'm disappointed
Should see if it's covered under the warranty. I have been using it consistently and have had any issues.
the inverter is drawing additional amps and artificially inflating the power draw. To avoid, plug into the usb ports and use DC current.
I have checked the number against killawatt reading and found them to be very consistent.
What charger can I use? I bought them off Amazon but there’s no charger and I want to know the voltage and amps required or what’s safe
You can charge using any 500ma or higher port that's 5V. I charge mine with a 2A 5v charger.
@@TechWithTEstos audifonos utilizan alguna app para la configuración? O para enlasarlos? Gracias
I just got one for my PC as a dedicated VR router. Is it possible to just power it by just plugging directly to my PC instead of using the wall plug?
If your PC has a USB-C PD port I don't see an issue. USB-A ports might be underpowered for consistent use under heavy load.
@@TechWithT Seems to work fine after trying it on a USB-A port, but I don't know if it's good to do this for the long run
Does this router use data at all? Like the kind on your phones that cost money? I'm brand new to this stuff and have only just started taking internet security seriously, I already bought the router but I saw a data cap option in the settings, but I can't find any concrete information on it. I have absolutely no idea about any of this stuff and I won't lie its a lot to take in. I've done well so far on my own, but I would really like an answer to this question please, if you can To clarify, I want to use this as a main router, which is why I ask
So in standby there is a very light data usage still since the router checks for firmware updates, plug in updates, keep alive servers, good cloud for remote management. If you configure 24/7 vpn server then that also requires background data to be available for connections.
Great videos! Appreciate the detailed reviews. I am currently testing the Slate AX and the Beryl AX and am trying to decide which to keep. The fact that the Slate AX supports EAP for connecting to larger commercial WiFi networks is a big pull, the size isn't an issue for me, not much difference really. I did some testing using a Belkin 20,000mAh power bank which provides 3mAh per port and it worked really well. I was very interested to see the WiFi speed difference between the Slate AX (approx 300Mpbs) and the Beryl AX (approx 200Mbps). In your experience having used them both for a good amount of time is there any reason apart from size that I should keep the Beryl AX? I will be using this mostly with a Wireguard VPN active most of the time.
Beryl AX has higher bandwidth both for LAN and Wireless 5ghz network, less power consumption and the form factor I can't really think of any other reason.
@TechWithT do you offer services to set up VPN on Gli-net routers? I’m failing miserably and could do with some help. I will compensate you for your time. How can I contact you to discuss further?
Everything should be very easy to be setup given you aren't behind a firewall like a limited enterprise network that uses proxy based services. What's your use case scenario?
mine arrived today, the orange light keeps flickering and in every flicker it starts and stops my phones charging. what do I do
Have you made sure the battery is fully charged?
I took out the defective brush motor and it worked fine (with one brush only tho 😢). I will try to find a brush motor replacement.
Unfortunately I had no luck with mine so took what parts I can repurpose and then junked it.
Hello i want to work from home on local network of my company using openvpn which tiny router should i get for that .. to act like i'm working from the company on the local network but actually i will work from home on the local network of the company.. which the most tiny router to buy it to connect the local network cable at my office company and run openvpn to access the local network later from home ?
Any of them would work but would recommend slate AX for better performance
Would this be good for Home use? As a router
I only ever used it short term but yes it worked great for almost 2 weeks in a 1 bedroom Airbnb.
I have such a charger. I encountered a problem charging old devices. Is it possible to charge devices through your usb c to usd a adapter?
Yea I have tried that and had no issues but the amperage would drop when doing so.
Where can i download the app
You should be able to download the Tuya app from both Google play store and Apple app store.
Can you stream sports over the VPN through your home ip?
Yes that's precisely what I use for when traveling.
Does it overheat your iphone when using it? Mine is an Iphone 15 plus and I’m worried that it might overheat
Yes, the phone's back gets warm to the touch which generally happens with all wireless chargers.
@@TechWithT Oh alright, what I do to fix that is place a fan to provide moving air so my phone wont overheat (wired and wireless). But can you also help me with this question. I bought this exact Baseus powerbank in blue, and it has like a weird smell on it since I first opened it. After a month, the wireless top part of the powerbank showed a bump which lifts up my iphone when wireless charging. So I contacted the seller I bought it from and they send me a new one for free, when I smelled the new one, there wasn’t that same weird smell from my old powerbank. What should I do?
hi how many times can i charge iphone 13?
Should be 2-3 times.
Just had it for a month and it stopped working. Not sure what happened.. I've never dropped it, never had water anywhere near it, never overheated it.
That is unfortunate to hear. Mine has been working without any issues so far. Baseus has been responsive every time I reached out to them so would suggest contacting them for a warranty replacement if you already haven't.
Same problem.
Can I charge wirelessly samsung s23 without magsafe ring?
Yes you can but you have to hold the phone or place it on top of the battery pack
@@TechWithT thanks man
@TechWithT is it support pass through charging?
btw my iphone 15 doesnt charge , iphone 14, macbook, tablet its fine, iphone 15 no charging i tried couples cables. nothing
That is very strange I do not have access to an iPhone 15 to test the same with. Like yourself I haven't had any issues with other devices. I suspect this to be an issue with the iPhone 15 given lots of chargers are incompatible and there are numerous reports of same all over apple forums.
@@TechWithT i have a baseus gen2 100w 4 ports, its fine, with ugreen 20w usbc charger also fine
@ipnos2009 it has already been confirmed that it's an iPhone 15 defect that prevents it from detecting some non apple chargers.
The company is not clear about its return policy. I want to try their 5G home router for my TMO Home 5G internet. But if I am not happy I want to be able to return it. I inquired but they directed me to the warranty page.
You are right. I have only ever ordered the AX1800 home router directly from them. All other purchases have been via Amazon for me. Especially during this time of the year amazon has return window till Jan 31st 2024. Might be the way to purchase and test if it's a good fit for you. Which router were you thinking about?
Hi, if 1 port is in use, and you plug-in or unplug the 2nd port, does the 1st port disconnect for a little while?
if you have lets say galaxy s23 in port 1 and its charging, it currnetly charging with 40w, if you plug a second device, its splitting the 40w to 20w + 20w, so probably for a second yes its stop charging.
Yes I tested this and can confirm that is indeed the case. The charger disconnects and then attemps to figure out what wattage the second device needs before commencing to send power to both devices.
What model is the battery?
Powerextra 300wh
It is compatible with anddroid devices?
Yes it is given you either use a magsafe compatible case for android phones that have wireless charging capability or charge via the USB-C cable.
This is awesome!! How powerful do you think the radio is in this? I actually use it insed of my laptop wireless card because its more powerful.
The Beryl AX is more powerful than most laptop built in wireless cards but unfortunately I can't find much details on exactly what type of antennas they are.
Thanks for the review. Did you try setting it up with Alexa? I haven't had any success with that. I'm also finding them very slow to update the readings when I go to check on one of the sensors, 15-20 seconds, it's like they go to sleep rather than regularly checking into their hub.
I did set it up with Alexa but doesn't look like they function well. I wasn't able to trigger any actions either outside of the Tuya app. The sensors all use BLE Bluetooth technology if I'm not mistaken so they don't actively update to extend battery life.
Wich one would you recommend for some one who will be using VPN to connect to VOIP programs for work?
Slate AX would have slightly higher performance for VPN.
@@TechWithT okay thank your for your insight, I was leaning towards slateax also. Subbed.
Which one you recommend between this and the slate 1800 ? My main use is in hotel rooms with wireguard VPN
If you are looking for portability then Beryl AX otherwise Slate AX is a better investment from my personal experience.
Slate AX is a lot faster with Wireguard, like twice as fast. But a little bit slower with OpenVPN.
@oliverwhite8624 based on the specsheet yes. But actually in use when traveling the real world speeds are almost identical. I haven't seen many places that offer 300mbps dedicated speed to be able to use slate AX at its full potential over wireguard.
@@TechWithT If you're using a 5G/MMwave hotspot with the router then it's easy to reach 300Mbps.
The question was regarding hotel rooms.
How can buy
I will provide updated recommendations.
Is it compatible with iPhone 11?
Yes is it. Given if you are using a case with the phone it's magsafe compatible.
Как вариант посмотрите на keenetic, видгард и прочяя лабуда там есть
Hello from Canada! I have the Slate AX router and it's been very useful for our travels (me and my dad went on a road trip recently to Ottawa and Montreal - both cities are in Canada). I used that router as a repeater to securely connect the hotel's wifi with our devices. I'm considering getting the Beryl AX as an upgrade in terms of portability, etc. - but the Slate AX would be enough for my case.
Same I prefer Beryl AX for the portability and when using with a portable battery pack to achieve longer run time with slightly less power requirements. For every other scenario the Slate AX is my preferred device.
Hi, I setup a site to site vpn with flint as wireguard server and opal as wireguard client. I also tried opal as wireguard server and flint as wireguard client. In both cases, the max download speed is 10 mbps only. What could be wrong here? Do I need to use beryl or slate as a client?
Looks like Opal is limited to max 65 mbps for Wireguard and just 12 mbps over openvpn. I use Flint as my WireGuard server and can confirm it can hit almost 300 mbps (always over 200 mbps) when using Slate AX, Beryl AX, S22 ultra or iPhone 14 Pro max. So unless there are underlying network issues or the power supply isn't adequate Opal should hit 30-50 mbps still. If you need faster speeds then would recommend Slate AX or Beryl AX. You can always run wireguard client on a Phone, Mac or windows laptop to check network performance.
@@TechWithT I tried my phone as wireguard client and I still get max 10 Mbps download speed. Is it due to the fact that the upload speed from my internet service provider is 10 Mbps?
@samr6781 yes no vpn service will help you exceed your ISP bandwidth
Good evening, I have been using the lamp for a few days and I am using the preset program for orchids. I would like to add more custom programs for other plants as some are not present in the application as default programs. Can you help me!? Thanks and best regards
I might be best to reach out to their support team for detailed instructions
good evening, I would like to know if there is a preset program for Phalaenopsis orchids too. Thank you
Not specifically, there is a preset for Orchids.
These routers are decent but the reason for their seeming popularity is that GL.iNet has flooded UA-camrs with them for review. Viewers, don't think that there aren't any good alternatives just because of the volume of YT videos about them makes their name more common.
I see why they do it to keep up with the competition. Surprisingly a lot of folks I know still don't have a clue about them.
What are some alternatives ? Any suggestions??
@@pauldomfree it always goes quiet when people comment to say 'there are alternatives' and don't list the alternatives.. I'm in the market for a powerful wireguard supported router and the gl.inet ones are mostly the ones I've found at a good price.

Could you show how I could install a Xfinity or spectrum server on this router, I have one, I would like to travel working Remotely
You can configure it connect to a OpenVPN or WireGuard server allowing you to connect to home when travelling.
@@TechWithT But I don't know how to do it
I would recommend researching to see if your home router has the functionality to run a VPN server or you can install the application on your PC behind your router with the correct firewall rules to act as your VPN server.
