Moin Moin and Welcome!
I'm Donspektor and my goal is to critically (!) review mainly audio gear but also keyboards and other tech of interest.
The main aspect in that is the price to performance: a 20€ IEM will obviously be completely different in terms of build and sound quality than a 200€ IEM. So whether a product is worth its price and what its "highlights" and weaknesses are, I'll analyze in detail.
-

Shanling M0 Pro Review - With tiny DAP comes great responsibility
xelastec 2 are my favorite. then foamax then MAX standard (or max tws if the 1mm less height works for you)
u seem like a reliable guy whats ur recommendation for an iem for around 200 dollars?
Honestly, Supermix 4 for quite a bit less will be everything you need: yes, it's harman-ish tuned, but sounds very detailed, has capable drivers, is comfortable and with just a bit of EQ (lower treble a bit down and maybe upper treble too, depending on your taste) it's really nice. However, the accessory package is a bit lacking and I'd definitively recommend buying separate tips as the included ones aren't great. For me, Spinfit Omni worked like a charm on them.
Great review, needs a little more polish before it gets my interest.
Thank you :-) Yeah, also my thought. I hope they make a gen 2 with just like 10% more polish this could be a really nice device. As it stands though, I see more cons than pros.
Great review 👍Than you!
Happy you like it :-)
Wish manufacturers move away from a single DD and move to atleast dual DD and make it a norm. there's so much you can achieved with a single driver until it starts to oversaturate the market.
Some single DD sets are really nice and even some high-end ones like Zen or Zen Pro seem to perform really well. But I agree: with 2 DD or more, you usually end up with better separation and potentially better punch & slam while maintaining upper-treble extension^^
Is it because of its shape that you must choose a different size than regular items?
Yes, these are a PURE cylinder. No ball/ funnel shape whatsoever, really a pure cylinder. And that usually doesn't work so great for most people and I would not recommend them if you don't already have a tip that works well for you. If you would like to try something more cylindrical though, I would say rather check out the ePro tips. These are pretty cylindrical, but have a light rounding to them which makes them generally fit a bit better in my experience.
@@don_spektor Thank you for your help. Have a nice day
@@MML66 You're welcome, let me know if you have any other questions :)
@@don_spektor It may be a personal question, but it means a lot to me if you are forced to buy from one IEM store and have no other choice, but this store adds a lot to the price of the IEM. For example, if the price is 220, it adds 80$ to it, or if it is $400, it adds 200% This means that you buy items for the price of items. Better but less performance. Will you leave the hobby or continue?
@@MML66 Oh that's a tricky question... Hmm... I think, if forced to only buy where they have way higher prices than what they should, I'd find myself the one IEM I really like and then stop all future spending (at least until the IEM breaks or I'd loose it). In my case, that's be for instance the EJ07M or the Quintet or the Supermix 4 because they really fit my personal taste and libary very well and if I'd not be making reviews, I'd be more than happy with any of these as my only IEM :) Hope that's helpful to you?
how is it compared to fosi audio ds1, moondrop dawn pro & akliam pd5? which is more versatile & analogue? what do you prefer more ? they are very similarly priced.
Hey Sorry, I do not have the devices you mentioned. But as I also said here, once you pass a certain threshold, there won't be many differences anyway. This means, I highly doubt in a blind test you'll be able to tell them apart because they'll all measure well and do not change the sound profile or interfere in an audible way with the harmonics.
I finally got these and gave it try, Hated it during insertion because it hurts once it hits the surrounding wall of my ear canal. Probably if there's SS/XS size, I might get it and have it slip deeper into my ear. As it is, once I got past the painful and uncomfortable twisting and insertion, it stays well enough and does help tame the sibilance a bit. Means I can listen to music at a slightly louder volume (though again depends on the IEM because on another pair, the sibilance is quite obvious). But gawd I do feel it in my ears, and I don't know if I can handle always going through that insertion pain. I think cone-shaped suits me better. The good thing is that I don't feel any ear pressure from the Dunu tips...? Also that the seal doesn't break if I move my jaw, unlike most other eartips I've tried. I wish there's an eartip that morphs from round to oval, because that fits my right ear better. Or maybe my ear canal is just real small and I should either find IEMs with smaller nozzle (under 6mm), or short nozzles...
I can imagine... That's why I also said they are too cylindrical for most cases as I had a few IEMs where they also made for a rather uncomfortable fit... Maybe consider the ePro? They are a tad more round but still keep most of the cylinder shape.
@@don_spektor Yeah, sometimes I can easily insert it just fine, other times I struggle getting a good seal. I'll have a look at the ePro!
This is the best review for the topping stack! Thanks for all the information!
Glad I could help :-)
Right on time brother i have an issue with my eartips on my tanchjim oxygen where it get loose and stuck in my ear holes.i use L size eartips.could you recommend any L size eartips that fits my tanchjim oxygen noozle?my sound preference is bass with good tonality and sound stage.thank you!
Hey, sorry I'm not sure if I understand you: does the tip come off the nozzle? If so, you might need to consider tips with a smaller inner cylinder. Spinfit Omni are pretty good there for me. Please note though, the Omni are relatively short and I'm not sure if that's to your liking.
conghrats to anybody who made it pastg this intro
I'm using them with KBear Rosefinch since thats like a budget Sub bass IEMs , Atleast it makes it sound nicer for me. (Got them when I bought the Navi XV 😅)
Does the Rosefinch have a shorter nozzle?
@@don_spektor not really, about average like the S.G Wan'er
Those tips make my ear itch
No surprise with the width they have xD They make my ears hurt after just a couple minutes on everything that's not a TWS...
You're right. The one thing they're good at is slightly, SLIGHTLY, reduce the air pressure. If I want a reduced bass and extended treble, the Spring Tips work better than the Wide Bore Sancai. At least for me. Doesn't stay well in my ears either. Others swear by it, so it's very subjective. The Narrow Bore is marginally better, at least.
I'd take the more narrow bore any day of the week over these: they really are among the weirdest and possibly worst tips I have tried so far and even when looking for other opinions, I couldn't really find one that was excited about them xD
Divinus Velvet .... Normal, wide bore and tws
Wished the Velvet TWS comes in black like the normal ones, white makes it looks disgusting after awhile for me
@@IderuShikesu Velvet come in TWS? didn't know that. The wide bore I have heard about when they came out and have them on the list, but maybe I'll also take a look at the TWS version^^
@@don_spektor yup, saw them on AliExpress 🤙
@don_spektor they have for tws that's what I have on my samsung buds2pro. And they're ok.
Quadbrid compares sounds fun 😂
I only the Quintet here as a direct comparison but I'll definitively use it as a base for the review :)
They're absolutely TERRIBLE Quality!! Mine's bore split after i put them on my Letshuoer S12 Pro rendering them useless 😀. They gave me 3$ refund though so i guess its OK. The bore material is too thick and it will split if you use them on a wide nozzle iem.
Oh ok, I didn't expect it to just split but it somehow also doesn't really surprise me, this tip somehow feels more flimsy than the regular Tang Sancai and then we haven't even tackled the bad fit xD
Nice video. I bought these and I absolutely hate them. Will probably throw them away. They feel cheap and the sound ... No bass, exaggerated treble, mediocre mids.
That's why I also said, i can absolute not recommend them and would suggest anything else over these xD
Thanks guys you've saved me. I was considering these.
zhulinniao's qingluanz4 is also great, very similar to ea500. Can you share your views on it? I like z4 very much
Tangzu launched the tang sancai with doble falange and narrow bore. Hope you can review it
Wait what? When xD? I'll record the wide bore review today or tomorrow the other ones came out of nowhere. Need to get my hands on them too, absolutely^^
In your opinions (with your experiences) what is the best eartips? Including wide bore and narrow bore?
I can only answer this absolutely personally, with my small ear-canal and preference for brighter signatures. So far, I really like the Liquid Silicone tip on all IEMs I can get it to fit my ear. It sounds balanced, detailed, slightly brighter and is very comfortable assuming you have a shorter nozzle IEM. Also it seems to be pretty durable. But honestly, Spinfit Omni in the time I have it now also is very good, better than the CP360 while being similarly long. Will still take a bit to get a conclusive opinion on it, but so far it's really good :)
@@don_spektor thanks Want to try xelastec but someone said that it's not durable enough
@@ogemmi Oh yeah, they are not. In regular usage, they probably only get you like half a year or so... I suspect the Xelastecs2 should last a bit longer because they use quite a bit thicker material, but so far I have only had them here like two weeks, so its too early to say more.
@@don_spektor any plan on reviewing divinus velvet wide bore? Thanks for the follow up btw
@@ogemmi Yes, during the next sale I'll probably add them to my haul :-)
Wtf...u r pure primitives noobs..ha4..Peace!
Congrats Don! Surprised that I learned how to use my iec711 on REW thanks to your tutorial and have my own squig before you😅 Anw, looking forward for your measurements and future contents!
Thank you :D Well, I'm lazy, what should I say xD Had access for more than a year but the whole thing with the phone-book is sooo annoying. I'm a developer myself and I would have automated that whole spiel first thing because its soo damn annoying xD
@@don_spektor ouh yeah the phonebook + json files got me stressing for almost a week since I wanted to customise it to my preference 😭
Quick note: some of my measurements show an artifact at 50-60Hz, that's not real, my desktop PC unfortunately creates some vibration in this range and the coupler does pick it up... EDIT: Also note, I have organized the files a bit better, now I have two data bases, one for headphones donspektor.squig.link/headphones/ and one for IEMs donspektor.squig.link/iems/
If the nozzle lip weren't so wide, I may consider getting this. My Tanchjim One DSP is already 6.44mm (thank you Hifigo for measuring it) and I can already feel it. Hence me opting for ear tips that have thinner core thickness. Purple colour option though... Tempting... My right ear canal is weird that way, hence preferring smaller nozzles. Because at least then you can buy wider ear tips to compensate. Can't do the same in the reverse...
These are still ok in terms of outlet. The worst offender there are the Variations, these are a bitc* to get in your ear xD
@@don_spektor I've heard that Truthears are just as bad for being so big in diameter. Sad cause they're really good IEMs too.
@@miershyk So far I have had literally zero of their IEMs, but from pictures, yeah, they seem to have BIG nozzles :/
Looking forward to the review
I hated zeos..he's really cheap n unpro All his stuff r sponsored Not like we all We bought all things with our hard earned money..After get it free the he's just complaint2 forget it was free then the company must send again new prod for free n the routines go on n on WTF zeos..Peace!
That's a general problem with all reviewers that get sent stuff (including myself)... Even Crin is no exception there. He seems to forget that IEMs actually need to fit people and somehow 6.4mm nozzles or big/pointy shells aren't the way to do that :/ But yeah, Zeos himself is more of an entertainer who sells things than an actual reviewer in my opinion. Haven't watched his content in ages because he doesn't really take criticism seriously.
@@don_spektor As someone once said about him which i wholeheartedly agree; " Zeos is a salesman and hella good at it BUT not a reviewer." 😅
🤡
Next review OSTRY 200 eartips please.... Planning to buy it for kz pr2
Had to look them up first. Ah, these are the ones with integrated filters. I have seen them before but so far didn't really had them on my radar, thank you I see if I can get them in my next haul :-)
0:28 iirc, He did mentioned in one of his video that he name it after the banger anime called "Summertime Render"
Ah very interesting to know, thank you! Never heard about that anime, but the summary on Wiki sounds interesting :-)
How does the sound quality compare with the Fiio BTR15 and Shanling H2?
I do not have the BTR15 or H2, sorry. However, I have the BTR5 and UP5 and compared to these this has more power and seems to be warmer.. This probably is due to it having a high output impedance: according to the only other review of this device I was able to find, this has 10 ohms output impedance :/ Other than that, it sounds very good and doesn't seem to lack anything. But there are other issues, which I'll go into detail in my review that probably is ready next weekend :)
@@don_spektor thank you..
@@ilhammotor3366 You're welcome, sorry I couldn't be of concrete help here...
I love the Spring Tips compared even to Spinfit or the Tangzu Sancai. For some reason, the seal on the latter ear tips tend to break if I move my mouth. One thing I noticed too is that the Spring Tips have one of the shortest stems amongst all the ear tips I own. Most ear tip stems tend to grip and wrap around the lip, but because of how short the stem of Spring Tips is, it kind of settles nicely under the nozzle lip and gives it a tighter grip. Quite a pain to remove though, and have to be super careful less you accidentally rip the flange because it's also much thinner than the other ear tips mentioned above. Has a wider bore too and it does reduce the bass of my IEMs a tad. Stays super super well sealed in my ear and very comfy, even if I'd to push it a little deeper. Seal doesn't break either when I open my mouth so that's a plus. Also helps is that the Spring Tips stem doesn't add to the width of the nozzle lip, compared to most ear tips. I wonder if there are other ear tips where the stems are similar to Spring Tips.
Happy to hear they work for you well :) Judging from how you described it, it sounds like you might need to downsize other tips as that should help them not break the seal when you move your mouth. Other tips with very short stems I could see: MS42, CP360, Sedna Max or the BGVP Foam. The shortest stem by a long shot is the Max. But hey seem to be made with TWS in mind so that's expected there^^
@@don_spektor I'm already using the smallest size. Usually the 11mm range. 😅Recently came across the Sedna Max so I might consider that. There's also the Spinfit Omni but apparently that doesn't have a super short stem. Short, but the standard short. Or maybe I should look for eartips that are more tapered so I can stick it in deeper, though I don't dare touch the double/triple flange ones. I think the Spring Tips work nicely because the flange are softer compared to Spinfit ones (with the TZ SC hardness being in the middle), so it doesn't break as easily because it quickly molds to the ear canal shape...? Just a pity that the Spring Tips reduce bass quite noticeably.
@@miershyk I feel you bro, for me most S tips are too much and I need SS with basically every tip that offers them^^ The MS42 I just unboxed have a very small tip though, probably the smallest I have had so far :)
@@don_spektor Oooh! I checked their measurement and dang, XS is really small! Their XS is basically Spring TIps S size! It also seems my right ear canal is shaped weirdly and those oval earphone tips fit better. I'm currently using Spin Fit W1 SS and at least it seals as good as Spring Tips without losing the bass. As long as I don't smile, no seal break. I prefer the W1 to the CP100+ as it seems to stick/seal better too.
@@miershyk CP100 were too long for my ear^^ I really need shorter tips with most IEMs and the Omni as well as the CP360 do a good job there. Omni probably a bit better, but you can't get the Omni on wide nozzle IEMs: 6mm is already a tad too wide...
Quick update regarding the frequency response in ANC mode: the peak in the mids is an intentional decision for the use outdoors to ensure and I quote here, "allow users to hear sounds such as car horns".
It's more like jm1 than harman
What is JM1? I have not heard about that target curve so far.

Thanks for the detailed review! 🙌
You're welcome :-)
What is your favorite tips?
Very good question :-) Currently, I think the Liquid Silicone tips: they are comfortable, fit safely and isolate rather well. Also, they tend to bring up upper treble a bit more which helps with the detail perception (which I personally like), but could potentially introduce a slightly shimmery timbre. Of course, assuming you do not mean custom ear-tips count. If they do, then custom tips, they are basically perfect in terms of fit and isolation :-)
Is this tip would work for the kinera celest wyvern abyss?
I cant say for sure as I do not have them. However, judging from the shape the S&S might be a bit long and the cylinder shape could also be a bit of a "hit or miss". I'd suggest first trying the tips that come with it in all sizes and if that doesn't work see if you need a longer tip or a shorter one. If longer is ok, I'd recommend the ST35, it shorter is needed, the CP360 are a good and not too expensive option :-)
Hey @don_spektor, since the S&S has a strict cylinder shaped, would it be a perfect fit for the iec711 clones? 🤔 I'm trying to find a silicone alternatives that can consistently give the same seal/depth insertion other than using foam tips.
I personally wouldn't use the S&S in the 711 couplers: real ear canals are S-shaped and with the S&S in the coupler you would insert them deeper than any real ear would be. I personally chose an M-size tip with thinner material and a medium-sized outlet for my IEM measurements, which I keep for all of them in order to keep them comparable among each other. This seems to work fine so far and gives me reproducible/consistent measurements. Just see which tip you have that's a good allrounder and that stays in the coupler well enough and you should be fine :-)
@@don_spektor I see tysm! It makes sense when you put it that way. I managed to find a decent tip for measuring IEM after reading your reply and scouring some of the tips I received from the different IEMs I've bought. And it seems that the size S tip with black nozzle that comes with Artti T10 is a perfect fit for the iec711, and it doesn't fold or collapse on itself when adjusting the position or depth of insertion. 🤙 And, most importantly, it provides consistent results every time. Anw, thanks again for the insightful reply.🙏

Lol...noobs..my old skol Q5S TC r titanium like the new iphones long time ago..This fakes carbon n plastic..ha4 lol..Peace!
It could also be aluminium because it doesn't sound like plastic when I try to poke/hit it. Plus, it feels VERY sturdy, similar to the PH05 I checked out just last week.
@@don_spektor What I'm sayin is Iphone15 promax just came out in titanium as a premium..my dacAmps done it long time ago ...that's it..Then came urs carbon wutever. ..ha4 .gd 1..Peace!
@@masterazlan6999 I checked the product now in detail and the description: the shell, minus the top plastic cover, is a single part of machined aluminium with a surface finish that looks like carbon. So it fells very nice in the hand and also looks very well made, again minus the plastic cover on top. For the price, I'd even go as far as to say this is more than one could expect: machined aluminium is not cheap and the material thickness here is pretty high. Of course a iPhone with a bit of actual grade 5 titanium is quite a bit different, but if you ask me, I'd prefer machined aluminium back over the glass they use^^
Im not sure whats the point in comparing it to devices you haven't listened to? It doesnt matter how they messure, nowadays all devices measure well.
If you are referring to the Atom 2 stack: most people know the JDD Atom (2) stack and therefore my comparing it in terms of sizing gives people a good comparison of how big/small they are. If you are referring to the other alternatives I mention at the end: due to most good DAC/AMPs or stacks measuring so well, it'll be very unlikely you will hear a difference between devices in a real blind/ABX scenario. Hence, I do mention other chapter alternatives that do seem to measure well. And if you don't need Bluetooth or the EQ software, you have many options that also measure very well... And are cheaper. Therefore, the point of this is to give people perspective.
I was beginning to think my ears were broken. Every review on these really gassed them up as really good. I recently got them in and after trying other iems like the Aful Performer 5, Aful Explorer, Audiosense DT200 (one of my favourites), and my Truthear Hexa, Fan 2 just falls flat. Feels like it has no resolution, no air, feels congested as hell. I may need to try them with more wide-bore tips like the blue ones they come with. I also have hexa tips that are wide bore and are quite comfy. But another problem is the nozzle, it's so weird and a little tricky to get a good seal on my right ear.
100%ly agree with you. You can see the lack of air in the frequency response measurements very well, there is almost none and that combined with the warm tiled signature can make things come off as blunted. And yes, the nozzle is super weird, I couldn't get this to fit with 95% of my tips and even with the last 5% it wasn't good at all :/ I also do not think wider bore tips will help. Medium width maybe like the Liquid Silicone, but even then I assume they'll be "flat" and kinda congested...
I want short ear tips I have very small ears I wish they wake a shorter version
Yeah, that would make them even better. I do not use these on longer to medium-long nozzle IEMs for exactly that reason...
There are a few brands of eartip that come with pivoting feature similar to SpinFit. It is no longer unique to them. Some cheaper alternatives are Audiosense S400 and NewBee Silicone Eartips.
Good to know :-) The nice thing about these is that they come with a nice case and the material is very flexible and that is still cheap. I'll also try find the other tips you mentioned here, thank you for the suggestions :-)
Can you compare senneheiser ie200 to hidizs mp145 same price
Sorry, I do not have the IE200 or MP145 here. But judging from the graph, both would be good options as a general all-rounder. I'd personally probably choose the MP145, just because the planar driver usually is way more capable than Sennheisers DDs. But due to the lack of me having had both here, take my opinion with a grain of salt.
@@don_spektor thats okay i have both i love the mp145 in terms of detail. But in terms of comfort and neutral sounding ie200 is good. And you can sleep because the light weight
@@nathz2020 Yeah, I have read a few opinions that the MP145 isn't that comfortable... I had asked Hisdisz for a review unit some time ago, but they unfortunately declined...
Great thorough review! I purchased a Topping D50iii to pair with a JDS Labs Atom Amp 2. I think they will make a fantastic combo. Atom Amp 2 at $129 is better deal than the A50 while also being American made which I love. If there was an American made DAC with the usability and feature set of the D50iii I would've bought that instead. What's great about the D50 is the balanced outputs which will go to my studio monitors and the RCA to my Atom amp.
Thank you :-) Unfortunately, in the EU it's very hard to find JDS products... I read many positive things about the Atom 2 stack but with the import costs, it doesn't make any sense to get it at the moment...
greetings. great unboxing~ till next time!
Thank you :-)
Looking forward to your full review bro 🙂👍
Already working on it :-) Probably next weekend as I need more time to get this through real-world situations where you'd use it for :-)
Thanks for your review. I pulled the trigger on the D50iii to pair my A70 Pro. I don't feel the D70 Pro's are worth the asking price, given I can barely hear the difference between amps.
Yeah, I think the most important for DACs nowadays after a certain price point is the feature set. If it has 0,0001% or 0,000001% THD doesn't really make a difference, same for AMPs...
I got the same stack and I feel the same about the lack of 12v trigger and long trs cable😢
Yeah right :/? Topping kinda missed the mark with these details for me here...
