I tried this but while I get the shadows, I also get some translucent black in part of the plane. But I watched your video several times and followed each step. Any suggestions?
Yes. You can either try to give more power to your main light source, or better, play around a bit with the values of the diffuse nodes, if you make it a little brighter it should work perfectly. Let me know if you got it?

No. The video is attached as a background in the camera settings. I will make a video on how to do this very soon...

Mine was already on WASAPI but wasn't working. I clicked "none" exited preferences and the went back in and clicked WASAPI and then it worked. Thanks : )

Didn't do much magic there, it's Hdri together with the render engine that creates the visuals. If you want to make something similar, use an Hdri with HIGH res...
I like everyabout Eevee next except the constant crashes and the lag time when you change simple settings.
Hi Budd. Yes! Noticed it myself. I tested Eevee Next on my skull, previous video (15 million polygons). No problem for Blender 4.1, big problem for Eevee Next...

Trying this and the rain drops is not interacting with the bottom plane. They are simply passing right through.
Restart the partial system by changing the number of particles and try with less raindrops. Let me know if it worked?
@Digitalfix-np8pq Tried, but to no avail. I think tomorrow I may redo from scratch using 4.0. I was using 4.1 and maybe that might be the issue. Your tutorial was straightforward and easy to follow, so I don't know what The 'Wave' physics is not working on the bottom Plane. Thanks for replying.
@Digitalfix-np8pq Just did it using 4.0 and it worked like a charm😂
@Digitalfix-np8pq Just tried again with 4.1 and discovered what I did wrong. On the top plane, under source, I did not select the Particle System TWICE. The second box looked greed out to me, so I had not been selecting it. After doing it with 4.0, which didn't have a grey out look, I decided to click on that box in 4.1 and behold I was able to select Particle System. Thank you!!! 👍

I've got a complex mesh- figurine shape from a 3d scan. When I try this on that object I see no thickening of the edge whatsoever :/
