trying my best
the melancholy of japan
the finale.
during my last three days in japan, i did some exploring by train. i ended up in nara, kyoto, and finally hiroshima. each city felt pretty distinct from one another, and i enjoyed my time in all three.
around then, i also started thinking about the inevitable: going home and returning to the normalcy of everyday life. the past few weeks had been full of new scenery and a complete sense of freedom, and a part of me was scared to leave that behind.
but i think the memories i’ve made are more permanent than that. more than anything, travelling alone helped me build a strong friendship with myself, and that’s something i’ll treasure for life.
wish you guys all the best in the new year.
i’ll catch y’all next time :)

the osaka special

i spent a few days in osaka this summer.. so here’s some footage from my trusty camcorder. although i loved my time here, at this point in the trip, the exhaustion started to hit a little. the initial wonder of being in a new place was partly overshadowed by a mix of overstimulation and heat exhaustion. fortunately though, after a two-day slump and giving myself some room to breath, i settled i...
finding lily chou-chou

happy 23rd birthday to all about lily chou-chou :) i watched the film with a few friends last summer after seeing a poster of it online, and well.. it’s been living in my head ever since. i wanted to piece together the events in a way that would form a satisfying conclusion, but really, i don’t think there is one. all the changes, struggles, and nuances we experience growing up can’t be explain...
wandering in tokyo & yokohama

part two of my time in tokyo.. and a lil bit of yokohama. honestly, i felt like a week wasn't enough to explore all the neighbourhoods of tokyo i wanted, but at the same time, i'm pretty happy with what i got to see. on my last day, i stopped by yokohama for a nice change of pace, but i'll have to save chinatown for another time. so that's to say, i'll definitely be back. but maybe after i brus...
alone in tokyo

a somewhat cohesive collection of footage from my first 3 days in tokyo. i’m someone who’s pretty comfortable doing stuff alone, but for the first time in a while, i felt kinda nervous about it. right before my first time travelling alone. thankfully, i was able to shake the initial fear and enjoy my time exploring the city. before i left, i packed my camcorder just in case. i’m glad i worked u...
