From the father of an Air Force sergeant who has done 2 tours, and an uncle of an Army specialist who was accidentally killed in a training mission in 2017, this song makes me cry every time. Bob nailed it, as he has done for 50 years.

I must say the journey of this video 14 years later is amazing. I didn't post it to go viral and get famous, I enjoy earning what I've worked so hard for. 26 dislikes to 568 likes, that is truly amazing. You never know what you'll get in today's social media because it only takes one person to be cruel. I want to thank everyone for their great comments and just say UA-cam is weird. There were comments on here I never read previously because they just weren't there to see. And now, suddenly, today they are. This would be why many people got like's from me even from comments as far back as 14 years ago. I am saddened to know Alto Reed (aka Thomas Cartmell) is now gone and was touched that he took the time to comment on my video (see above) May he RIP. He could play a saxophone like nobody's business.

I remember when this was first posted, then pulled over copywrite mumbo-jumbo. Glad it's back. Although there are others this is my favourite.

One of his best songs! Spent two tours in Afghanistan and the images of what I witnessed and experienced are burned into my soul. Cannot hear this without reliving that. As a Southwest Asia combat veteran and retired military - this is a great photo montage tribute to our nation's military. God Bless America and the brave men and women who serve in our Armed Forces.

Every time I hear this song, I'm a teenager again lying on the beach listening to the never-ending waves tumble onto sand in Wildwood, NJ. Thank you for creating such a memorable music video. I'd like to extend my sincere thanks to all the soldiers and their families who sacrifice so much for us. America is forever in your debt.

Insurgents are soldiers too, often fighting for their country occupied. I respect every soldier honestly deserving his country, regardless its nationality, even if I do not agree with his opinion of the world.

@Stadia2024 No, it is Bob´s best, really. No other song comes even near. I do not like the "Against the wind" album but this song stands out. Bob made his best songs working like this.
