This should be the same fix for any boat with a dirty carburettor V8, V6, 4cyl different but same. Bayliner 5.0L V8 Capri has a huge flat spot and stalling when taking off, this fixed the problem and runs great again. Happy Boating!

      Yeah the struggle was real getting that out😩 went together reasonably easy, couldn’t get rubbers in a hurry so ended up getting a second hand bell housing with good rubbers & new bolts.

      The black wire goes on any earth or bolt on the motor, I put mine on the coil bracket bolt

      Thanks, it’s was the genuine mercruiser one for that engine number, that’s why it was strange I had to modify it

      Hi, they were the updated mercruiser replacement parts for my engine serial number, the update is sealed better & has 3 wires as I showed , not sure of the part numbers but it’s the standard thunderbolt ignition module & sensor wheel. If you have the older points style I’m not sure what’s involved, maybe the whole distributor is different. If yours already has thunderbolt ignition then just order the sensor, wheel, rotor & cap to suit the engine serial number, pretty sure if it’s thunderbolt there is only one to suit the V8. Hope that helps

      That’s a tricky one man! I looked on the Steahly site & have ones for 2017 & 2019 they miss 2018 so I’d say the 18 model either runs the same engine as one of those years & will work.     Hi I’m in a marina in Uk a friend has this engine, please help. How / where do you re-fill the fresh water coolent once the hoses are reconnected. Thx in advance this would be very helpful

      Hi mate, if the hose setup looks the same as this one then it’s raw water cooled, it sucks water in just above the propeller. Hope that helps.. don’t forget to subscribe thanks

      When I checked it over before starting I could feel a little movement in the shaft just moving it by hand up & down, then when it was running I could hear a new grinding squeal noise from it.

      If the CRF80 is like the XR80, XR100/CRF100 stuff should bolt on to the CRF80.

    Unfortunately you don’t show how you got it all out or in and you don’t show where the wires hooked up to helpful somewhat but not enough

      It’s very simple, the 2 wires go exactly where the original 2 wires go and the 3rd black earth wire goes anywhere on the engine block, I chose the bolt that holds the coil bracket as a good spot. The unit screws inside the distributor with 2 screws in the exact same spot as the original, there is no adjustment, just screw in place. Hope that helps, I should do a detailed vid on it but it’s stored away for winter at the moment.

      Good pick up, but no the gasket had an extra hole, they must make the one gasket for several pumps maybe.

    I have a 23ft 225 sundowner with a Omc 5.8 it runs perfect but won’t go past 3,000rpm spec is 4600,4800 full throttle anyone have any ideas?

      Hi, haven’t worked on that engine but if it’s old school & not fuel injection, I’d start with the fuel system, check fuel filter, fuel quality, pull carburetor and clean all jets. Then electrics , spark plugs, coil, distributor leads etc. Depending on carby , the secondaries maybe blocked only giving half throttle, if it’s electric injection could be some limp mode etc

      I went the 150rb (big wheel) swing arm but some are saying the original swing arm just fits the big wheel but better in my opinion to get an original big wheel one👍

      Hi, I don’t believe they will fit without some major modifications, better to have the original cut & extended . I have read of people putting 18/21 wheels on them but in my opinion better to get a 250

      Was around $1050 with secondhand swingarm , wheels & new chain. Got my money back when I sold it, my son just went to a 250 so I put the bike back to a small wheel & sold it then sold big wheel kit for $1100. Happy Days 👍

    I've got a problem where if I pump the throttle all the way forward, a small amount of fuel will squirt into the intake, enough to start the engine, but then it only runs for a few seconds. Fuel pump?

      Could be fuel pump mate, be a matter of elimination. I’d start by disconnecting the line & put it into a bottle and see if it pumps fuel with nice flow, if that’s all working then time to pull the carburetor apart, might just be a stuck needle & seat.. let me know how you go.

      Well worth it mate, all I changed was the swing arm, wheels , rear 56 sprocket & chain to suit an rb. I hunted around the bike wreckers till I found 150rb used parts. They say to beef up the suspension but that just depends on your weight, my sons light so I didn’t need to.

      @@evanduck6542 I didn’t try unfortunately, they probably just fit adjusted right back but you’ll have no chain tightening capabilities.

      It is longer, that’s a genuine rb (big wheel) swing arm, there’s not much difference maybe an inch or less.

      dude the “longer” swing arm is only 3/4 of an inch longer. me personally and many others on the internet have swapped their small wheel 150R with big wheels without even changing the swing arm at all. because in reality 3/4 isn’t making that big of a difference. you can theoretically get that difference out of the chain adjustment.

    my boat bogged out on me this weekend would idle and run great then got to a sand bar hung out for a while when shifting into gear and giving it throttle it would bog out. took gas cap off and it took off like a scalded dog

      Interesting, must have a blocked breather. Where I live the wasps in summer will make mud nests in any little hole they can find, my chainsaw wouldn’t start & sure enough the exhaust was blocked with wasp nests.

      Yes definitely improves slow riding with low revs & reduces the pinging, add some lower geared sprockets as well & feels like an endurance bike.

    First day I got my crf250r I was zooming threw the woods getting the feeling of owning a 250 and the trails were all full of bryers and sticks and I hit a tree when I slammed on break and dodged them and bent my side plastic

      Try the heat gun trick on it mate, might work. And check out my vid on setting up an Mx bike for trial with a flywheel weight & lower sprockets, heaps better for the tight trails.

    You need to take a look at your cutoff switch, when going from neutral into gear it stalls the motor to make the shift easy, when its not tuned it will ground out your ignition and cause the engine to die when shifting.

    Thanks for suggesting the wood. Some wanker hit my Triumph in the bum ran off and kinked both sides of the rear fender. I took a plank of wood shoved it between the rear fender and tire for a lever and used a floor jack to push up while using a heat gun. Didn't work eventually I will run out of ways to fail.
