Do you really believe that Czechia is eastern-european country?
@@vitycz no, actually, as a Pole, I firmly believe we’re in the centre of Europe, but ‘Eastern Europe’ still rolls of my tongue sometimes. I’ve spent too long in the ‘West’, I suppose. 🤦♂️
Don’t forget to tell that the water is cold….
@@markh5679 haha, true, but, to be honest, strangely it felt really refreshing and absolutely manageable on days when the waves were quite big. ... It definitely felt much colder on beaches with no waves at all. Then the frigid water gets to you much more 🥶!
Did you did biking in a old lead mine in Mažica?

Not an adder but a grass snake (belouska = whiteears in Slovenian) completely harmless.
Ahhh THANKS! Adders do have a zigzag on top of them though, don't they? I'm sure I did see at least one like that. Snakes are just fascinating!
@@somewhere_crowdless There are several non- venomous snakes with similar patters to adders. A general rule: adders and vipers are chunkier, they never run but move away slowly and with dignity, occasionally they sound a warning hiss (adders especially), but you should be extremely lucky to encounter an adder in populated environment ad they are becoming very scarce.
@@petermrak5660 Thanks for this! Very informative. You seem very experienced in this area.
Jingle bells should prevent the situation that if you encounter a bear he will be surprised. Which is good because first reaction of a surprised bear is attack.
@@0Cico0 well, not exactly...The purpose of the jingling is NOT to surprise the bear. Suprise usually happens when you're quiet, especially when hiking on your own without having anyone to talk to and make noise with. ...Of course, catching bears off guard can be rather dangerous.

Did you cycle in CZ or Poland ? Is English commonly spoken ?
@@jcraigshambaugh5417 I have cycled in PL but on a smaller scale than in Slovenia (shorter sections in Tatra mountain valleys). I would love to cycle in CZ Krkonoše mountains. These mountains are quite flat and there are miles and miles of paved cycle routes (unlike on the Polish side of the Krkonoše mountains, which is steeper and more suitable for hikers). English is widely spoken, especially among the younger generation. You shouldn't really have a problem with that. Additionally, German language is quite common in CZ. However, the older generation (50+) speaks less English (especially in the less urban areas).
Cycled those same paths in around Bohinj . Absolutely loved it .I remember that little ski hut . I Was always treated quite well ,and never ignored , but it was off season . the only place I been Ignored was those funny people in Italy . And of course everyone ignores you in Germany HA ha . there is so much More and more to Slovenia . Luce, Maribor ,Kamnik, Most de Soca, Tomin, Bovic ,Kranska Kora of course Ljubianna and Piran
@@jcraigshambaugh5417 Thanks for watching. The best treatment I received was actually in one of the mountain huts when I was hiking. It was "Koča na Planini Viševnik". I was the only person around at that time (despite it being early July) and the staff at the Koča were literally begging me to stay and have some food. Haha. I don't eat meat and there was nothing meatfree on the menu, so the lady cooked a separate vegetarian meal just for me. She was extremely kind. She went out of her way to make me feel welcome. So for me, it was one extreme to the other haha! But I loved it overall, of course, and I'll return there as soon as I can. Thank you for the recommendations. Yes - I definitely wanna see the Kranjska Gora & Bovec areas. I would also like to hike in the Kamnik-Savinja mountains.
Don't worry, it's cultural. Local individuals often sit in open restaurants in this environment, not ordering anything, just resting. If the waiter speaks to them, they order a glass of water or an espresso, so they are typically ignored. If you want something, don't be passive, but raise your hand and show that you want to order. Otherwise, they will continue to ignore you. From my local point of view that's kind to me from the waiter and I'll definitely keep coming back to this place where they actively leave me alone.😊😊
Ahhh that's very interesting! Thank you for clarifying! Now that you've said it, it does make sense...especially when I was sat waiting in one of the cafés (rather than restaurants). There seemed to be a few locals who were just sitting there and not really consuming anything. Maybe they were just resting!
I agree. This is friendly of the waiters/establishments, who - unlike in Italy or other places (my experiences in Austria come to mind) - mostly won't aggressively push you to order and kick you out if you don't.
This is the truth, and we locals are grateful 😍 for this kindness of the waiters. This kind of thing doesn't happen in Ljubljana.😉
No turists no nature demage... money is not important
Good presentation, nice video and you have picked a good area in the Alps. There are a lot of other places here in Slovenia to be explored and enjoy, and next time you should visit Prekmurje (North-East part od the Country) ...,hopefully those places will not become to overcrowded by commercial one-day turists who are just visiting certain locations to get some photos for their Instagram profile and by this not get the whole impression and experience at all. And for the question about the discrimination of single travelers in the restaurants: From my point of view, your experience of being ignored by waiters or restaurant service was most probably just simple coincidence. First time I encounter someone had this kind of problem here. Hope you had just one time experience with this. Wish you good travels in future and good vlogs.
@@malazala Hi, thanks for watching. I loved Slovenia, and so I really appreciate your recommendation! I'll definitely return and visit Prekmurje. I would also like to hike in the Karavanke and Kamnik-Savinja mountain ranges. They all look stunning (and hopefully not too busy with tourists). Slovenia is now firmly placed in my future travel plans! Lovely people too! Yes, true, perhaps my experience in restaurants was just a coincidence / bad luck, ha!
Fantastic presentation man, this whole area is just amazing! 🥾🥾

@@gtagide wow... lucky you! My brother has lived in Almada (and has previously lived in Lisbon) for quite a few years now, so Portugal is always on the list of places I want to explore more. It's definitely one of my favourite countries. It's just a pity that so much of the local population suffer due to high rents and lack of affordable housing in the Lisbon area. I hope the benefits of the increased tourist activity will eventually benefit the regular Portuguese citizen!
@@somewhere_crowdless the tourism bang in Portugal gave us more profict and employes, but with our lower salaries the rise of cost of living, specially the rents of houses are unberable for most of us that hern 800 euros month, and have to pay in Almada rents betwen 1200 to 1500 euros month. Imagine in Lisbon, Porto or Algarve . Like in every country the rich are more rich, and the poor more poor. Always the sames get profits...

Gorgeous lonely beach.. I didn't go to this beach when I was in Lisbon but if I remember correctly the ocean is quite cold in those parts 🥶😅🤗
Yeah, the water is quite cold, but funnily enough when the ocean is full of waves, it actually feels quite optimal. However, on days when the water is still, that's when it hits you just how cold the water is. It's still a great place to relax. The other smaller coves and beaches were just too crowded for our liking :) 😬🫣

As a Slovak my opinion might be biased but I've been to Himalayas (in both Tibet and Nepal), Patagonia (in both Argentina and Chile), Peruvian Andes, Rockies, Tyrolean Alps, Dolomites... and you can't deny the imposing, sometimes even otherworldly and surreal beauty of these places. But High Tatras, despite being smaller have a different kind of charm, more like postcard-type beauty. I'm glad you liked the trip.
Totally agree with you! And wow, your list looks impressive!! 😯! The length of the Andes and the Dolomites are definitely on our list, but yeah, the High Tatras are just special! Tatry Zapadne & Belianske, too! It's just such a beautiful ecosystem right in the centre of Europe. It's hard to put into a category or even make comparisons. The Tatras are in a category of their own! Funnily enough, I'm not that drawn to the Himalayas. I'd rather explore the hiking trails of Spain, Romania and Croatia first. However, we'll always be returning to the Tatras, and the Slovakian part is one we have yet to explore more. I'm jealous you're from there! All the best!
@@somewhere_crowdlessThanks. If I may recommend another place it would be Slovenian (not Slovakian) Triglav national park in the Julian Alps. If you're heading to Croatia, Slovenia is just across the border and it might be worth a small detour.
