It is true actually Nagraj was actually a tibetan and came from a tibetan royal house of Yatse which was actually the same house as one of tibet's great emperoer's Songsten gampo, His brother was the king of another tibetan kingdom called Guge, but later on Guge would be invaded by the Ladakhi kingdom which is another tibetan kingdom. Nagraj's real name was ཁཱད་རྒལ (Khadgal) "Khadga Rgyalpo" (King of the Sword). In Shimla and Sirmaur Districts of Himachal Pradesh and Northwestern portions of Uttarakhand bordering himachal, the word for a person from kshatriya caste even today is Khoshiya/Khosh. I am from the Jaunsari tribe of Uttarakhand and even though my surname is Chauhan I got to know that sometimes ago we were Rawat. Nevertheless, we still use Khosh word for us, the bramins are called Baman and they call themselves seperate from Khoshas but in many folk stories we get to know that many brahmin familiies arose from khoshas only. And the Dom/Dum caste is different and they look very different from us more like austroloid yet sadly thry are untouchables. Interstingly each familiy in our tribe has a unique name which is given more preference in our conversations than the surname chauhan, rana, rawat, tomar, sharma, joshi, singh, etc.etc. These indegenous familiy names are still valid and much more in use. My familiy name is Nikan (निकाण). Bascially, the first letter is taken from the name of a man from a particular family and then it is made to end with ण/यो suffix, example a man named Chandan(चंदन)---> Chandaan (चन्दाण) this will be the name of the family who see anscestory from that man, some other examples; शक्शियो , बैराण, तुनियो, पिशाण, etc. As far as I know I have noticed this practice only in my tribe, is this practice followed anywhere in Nepal?
