Awesome content man
Thank you!
Hell yeah brother, good to see you making progress on this. Looking good.
Thank you Mike! It’s been a rough year, but trying to get back into things! Hope you’re doing well brother
Yooo been waiting a long time for this!! 🔥
Sorry for the holdup on footage it’s been a rough year 😬
@@Tycrx89 Same here, good to see you back brother! Hope everything gets better god bless!
Any new update on the ef civic hatch?
Sorry for the lack of footage got a video actually coming together very soon
I just got an immaculate '91 EF Hatch, completely stock, 43,000 miles on the clock, it's so clean that i'm on the fence about doing anything to it (i had a laundry list of things i wanted before i got the car)... Would you recommend doing the b16 swap to such a gem? I don't wanna turn it into a pile of issues lol
Wow 43,000 miles?! That thing is basically brand new lol. I honestly don’t know if I would want to touch something in that good of shape being that they’re going for a pretty penny right now. Now if you were able to grab a shell somewhere I would absolutely recommend the b16a swap. Huge fan here if you want to have fun, reliable power.
@@Tycrx89 man honestly i'm so conflicted lol ! I know the smart thing to do is to keep it stored and not touch it and watch the price rise but i so want to have one how i imagined 🤦♂️ great problem to have tbf
Great work! I’m actually doing this same thing with my 89 civic sedan and I’m doing a gsr swap to it. Would love to see your progress!!
Thank you and sweet man! GSR is the way to go!
Let's get some more content buddy, take care.
Sorry it’s been a tough year but definitely making an update soon. Have a lot to go over and discuss with you guys 🤞🏻
Hello question for your distributor, is it required to use a Obd0 or a Obd1 distributor for b16a?
If you’re remaining OBD zero with the B16 use the OBD 0 distributor, but if you plan on converting the B16 to OBD1, it would also require an OBD1 distributor
I just bought Yesterday mine. Same model you have. Only have 150000kms on it. Good running condition. This video will be a great help if I wanted to DIY it. I’m kinda worried as I’ve been hearing Head gasket as main issue of this car. Hopefully won’t have on mine. Thanks for the vid sir! 👊🏻
You’re welcome. Good luck with the car!
Hey man. Stopped to say thanks for this. Showing how to get that out without pulling the CV/Master cylinder is a lifesaver. You are appreciated, Sir! Oh and of course liked and subscribed.
Awesome, so glad it worked out and thank you I appreciate it 💪🏼
Came across your channel and thanks for the great content upload! With all parts ready how long does it take to do the swap and what's your overall costs? I'll be getting an EF from my cousin soon and will also consider the B-series swap. Thanks mate!
Glad you like the content. I’d say if you have all the correct parts which is always very difficult to determine. It takes easily a full weekend maybe even more to get everything fully addressed and running right. I did this process over about a month because you always run into little issues that take time. All I can is, it’s well worth when you have a swapped running ef🤞🏻👍 good luck with everything.
@@Tycrx89 Thank you for your quick reply, will need more advise soon when time comes. Cheers mate~!
Best video i’ve seen, good angles, good explanation, covers every step!
Thank you 👍
What intake tube did you use for the swap?
I used the single cam d16a6 stock air box and filter piping.
How’s the progress going?
Had to change out the front core support /: not fun but ultimately it was holding me back from painting the bay and getting the motor installed. Been super busy but will hopefully have a weekend video out next weekend.
is the spot for the motor mount different to compensate for the "height" difference?
11:21 what changed from the one in japan - likely has to do with the positioning of all the other components there on the firewall. Pedals - brake booster - etc are not present on that side in japan. Its possible the frame rail geometry is flipped horizontally along with firewall components ALSO - instead of pounding your frame (giggity) im told you can rob a d-series alternator pulley and replace modify the b-series alternator with it (its smaller)
it would be interesting to see a gutted JDM crx next to a gutted USDM rex. Never thought about this before lol
I agree completely! I think the alternator pulley has a big part in it as well.
@@Tycrx89You are a class act. I admire your humility and willingness to stand correction. Love your channel too.
Did u replace serpentine belt
Yes!
Good job bro
Thank you 🫡
@@Tycrx89 welcome brother
Hey great video I had a question so when we were removing the flywheel it spun and we wanted to know if the engine would be off timing.
If the belt was still tight and not messed with you should be fine!
🐀iator
Yeah obd0 is old school.in my opinion obd0 is only if you wanna get car running and selling it asap letting someone else deal with it or daily it..but in general if you threw in a b16 ina ef you might as well go obd1 just because its not anymore complicated or costly.you can find a good deal on a used p06 p28 for cheap .and just wire the obd1 stuff up
Agreed completely!
Whens yhe next video dropping????!
Trying to get something out this weekend. Just been super busy I apologize.
@@Tycrx89 all good, Im extremely interested, I just got a 91 CRX!!
Hope everything is well brother, still waiting btw! Been meaning to comment again
By any chance was your battery light indicator on,on your cluster when you turned your car off?
Battery light was not on, but I found a drain coming from the alternator internally.
@@Tycrx89 I'm having that issue right now. I tried the trick of unbolting the negative terminal to see if it turns off but it kept running. I did notice it sounded like the engine had more power when I removed the negative terminal .
@@Tycrx89 replaced and fixed the issue🤗 video helped too. Only difference was the I had to put the top bolt on first a couple of threads then the bottom bolt to align it perfect.
@JoseContreras-mv5yz nice I’m glad you fixed the issue👌👍
Is it possible to still run ac with a turbo’d b series?
It is possible but major fabrication is required
real men undo that 10mm and pull out the whole speedometer gear 😈
Interesting, to each his own. I prefer to work smarter than😊 harder, but hey man go for it.
Hello brother, what kit will you plan to use to convert cable to hydro on the tranny? Some options out there, but what option do you prefer and why?
Funny you ask, it’s literally the last main area I have to clear up. I was looking into the hush performance kit, I haven’t decided fully on it but it’s looking like I’m going to go with them. They seem to have everything sorted out where as a few years ago you had to kinda re-work your own method of adding a eg salve. Deff going to be filming the process of it 👍
@@Tycrx89ok cool well stay tuned on the install
Hey man. What tranny do you recommend for a gsr /crx swap, being that i do not have a gsr hydro tranny. Thanks.
This was very helpful, thank you. One thing, though: make sure to press back the metal bushing in that pivot bracket, or the new alt will not go in.
You’re welcome and Agreed!
Nice one bro mega like 👍
Thank you 😁
Very well done! Thanks for taking the time to point out all the fitment issues one may come accross.
You’re very welcome
Tip #1 Have lots of money, time a place to work for awhile. I had a complete B18B2 with cable trans but had to ditch it all when i found out that to pass smog in Ca i need a new Integra cat that is Ca compliant. About $1500. No thanks. Stuck with the D series now. PS i lost alot of money with this dream/ nightmare. I have motorcycles that go fast so i guess my CRX will stay slow.
Don’t give up! Just got to get out of California. It’s a trap for any car enthusiast.
I'm definitely gonna get that tanabe revel exhaust for my CRZ just as soon as it's done getting K-swapped(K20Z3) Sounds clean!
It’s gonna sound awesome!
What’s the music for
Not sure I understand what you mean
Just did the alternator on 91 Honda Civic hatchback base 1.5 like this. This is the easiest way to do it without taking car apart Thanks 👍 had to do it on side of road needed to lift it a little from driver side to remove alternator but came out fairly easy.
Glad this helped!
Just came across your channel and liking the content. I must admit I'm following more for the CRX build lol. I'm actually doing basically the same swap, '90 si getting a GSR with y21 w/lsd and a p28 ecu w/ hondata s300 V3
That’s gonna be a nice set up. Sorry for the lack of content it’s been a tough end of the year but a lot of good things to come and I’m definitely starting the GSR either end of this month, but definitely January so stay tuned. Just want to have the right parts to do it right not gonna cheap out on anything. Finally got heat in the garage as well so no more cold winter.🤟🏻
No worries, we all get busy with life. My little rex has been waiting for me to do something with it for 10 years 😂. Bought a house and had 4 kids so builds been on hold for a little bit. Can't wait to see your progress start 👍
Just installed the Hasport ac adapter it’s look like my torsion pulley not line up with compressor pulley and crank pulley is any one have same problem?
Do you have all the correct spacers in the right locations?
I remember I replaced alternator on my 91 hf, I remember turning it a certain way and it came right out from the bottom, easy peasy
Very possibly since the HF has a smaller intake manifold
Hey Tyler, that's really cool and the cars are awesome and music is rocking and you look great! Love Mom
Thank you! You too!
PLEASE SELL ME THIS EF.
Sorry its not for sale😬
1:32 i have a bone stock civic, what did you use to upgrade the battery terminals? i need so much guidance to restore mine
I would recommend buying the service manual, huge help when on taking any DIY maintenance project. As for bad terminals i just used new cables with new terminals
Big, stupid and dumb AF!
You spoiled the community with this one brother, The angles, the detail, great video man
Thank you bother, those kind words mean alot ✌️
You guys have smog laws
Need a car I can register in CA then swap motor.
No smog laws in pa for us
What motor mounts r u going to run in the crx
I will be using hasport hydro 88-91 b series mounts for the swap
@@Tycrx89 thank you I literally have a identical crx which I’m also gsr swapping at the moment jus didn’t know what mounts to go for
@el-pollo-3605 i have the matching hydro trans for the gsr which is why i need the hydro mount set. If youre running a cable trans youll have to get the cable mount set just an fyi
@@Tycrx89 i see thank you for the heads up
On EE8 /EF8, the alternator won’t pass. You need to put off the wheel shaft.
Yikes! Not fun!
What is the diameter of the clutch you used ? 200mm, 212mm ?
212! I hope that helps!
@Tycrx89 Thank you! Your video really helped me! I must have missed something because the rest of the motor is leaning so much
That's a very good video 👍
Thank you! 👍
Nice job🔥🔥🔥
Thank you 👍
I just did this two weeks ago on my y49 dam near 400k on it the trans was a bitch to.line back up lol
Yes it can deff be a pain but worth the satisfaction when its complete!
This makes me miss my 89 civic std hatchback *Ed6 Canadian Spec* (Big Turbo setup w/ B18 LS block/ Built B16a head, Semi-Built JDM B16 Trans).
