Demand for local residential housing that won't be built because of the massive red tape and environmental impact reports that face every fkn step of the permitting process. There is, however, a apartment complex nearby that used to be a Raddison Suites that is now housing illegals on the taxpayer dime.
San Diego is pretty much ruined. All the old native restaurants are gone and have been replaced by bourgeois expensive fad restaurants serving stale pretentious food. The freeways are jammed up and native san diegans are now priced out of owning a home pretty much when covid hit, people moved from SF and LA because their cities have been destroyed in the exact same way but earlier.
Growth is unavoidable. I get it. I miss the good old days too. There’s no going back.

@@lisahead6868 not angry about it, it's inevitable. I just think that greed overtakes people and makes society worse for it. Real estate speculators, landlords, they really don't care about the cities they are overrunning or the housing crisis. It's all just greed and how many rental properties they can accumulate.

Could've built San Diego like this but like a sandstone, Walled, Mediterranean city with Greek style alleyways and stairs against the cliffs Instead old folks built huge, hulking Suburbs, with huge grass lawns, and hedges, now our lives feel institutional like we're always stuck in after school traffic. In fact, Carlsbad and Encinitas have done this and now, most of North county feels institutional everyday, like we're stuck in an office job land. San Diego has more a greek vibe, nothing like LA, and beautiful clay with a dry plant life that would go well with Mediterranean architecture, especially in the Summer when the grass is dry and yellow, like the modernist apartments in spain or greece
