XJR1300- How to install exhaust end cap conversion
Переглядів 83 тис.6 років тому
A guide to removing the old baffles from the XJR mufflers and installing 42mm end caps. These can be bought on Ebay and some aftermarket websites. I recommend buying a new heavy duty 5mm drill bit for this job. Aluminum rivets are easy to put in- Stainless are tough and only use if you have a heavy duty rivet gun. Note this was done on a 2003 model. The models from 2004 on wards have a weld at ...

    My dad had one of these, the red colour. It was around '88-'89 he rode it from Auckland down to dunedin to visit. Mum still has the photo of me on it, i was 8 or 9. Ahh the memories. He also had a black bmw r80, and 2 cb 750's, one blue and one red. Naturally i love bikes too, ive got a '91 FJ1200.

    did this modification affect the engine temperature and dynamics? I put a straight-through muffler and the engine started to warm up due to a lean mixture causing such a muffler.

      This would have been my dream,if I only had known it. Ihad a Z500 and kept it while getting a Z1300 340 Kg I kept the Z1300 because 10Liter@100Km at least and it's one thing swimming with a light boat or with a tank. I put the Z 500 4,4-7,2Liter/100Km back on the road and enjoyed the agile swimming with her. A friend had a Z900 wich swam too and also my 2'nd Z500 I mad ~25-30KK per year and I really wanted some more Power (as a daily driver...) 2Front 3 rearwheels and 2 chainkits per year. How much HP does the GT750 have? I was about to get me a new Bandit 600. Still chain yes. But 78HP is the Insurance step in Germany. 34HP 50HP 78HP 100HP and above. But dumb me I listened to the salesman. He said: "It's only 1000€ more to get the 1200Bandit and when you sell it you take the profit". Thought he was right. Nope. People don't pay standart price on an offer. And the nude 1200 Bandit was no fun. I drove it with Dynajet kit,Bos Carbon exhaust,Steelflex breakes. It had 138HP at the wheel.- *T O O M U C H* Fuel economy was great! 4.5-8Liter/100Km ! ;-) If the Bandit would have used both wheels I might have kept her. But having the front wheel so often and much up in the air.... nope no fun. Your bike would have been my dream. Tell me how many Horses did it have? Did you drive in winter&snow? How was the swimming part? Did you earn captain's license? I know that the GPZ 900 had a good motorcycle chassis. No more swimming ;-) CU!?

      I sold this bike a year or so ago. The next owner has had it for sale again and used my video. Great bike. I spent quite a bit on the scrambler style guards and indicators + tail light which he didn't mention in his listing.( Not shown in this vid) I had it spotlessly clean, never rode in the rain. Who ever bought it has a great bike. I've moved onto a much bigger xjr1300 now though.

      Oh right. I'm looking at another Honda CB400SS in Upper hutt. I was wondering what your opion is on the model since you've owned one before? I've been told to steer away from the model as they have been imported and are single cylinder. Cheers, thanks.

    • @videobylecram7967
      @videobylecram7967 6 років тому

      thunderwing2 The cb400ss is basically an xr400 big single motor. Super reliable. Very simple being air cooled and only one carb to worry about. I don't know why anyone would advise against. Being imported is no big deal. If it's in good condition, clean with no rust then I would say go for it. Another great bike in this category is the GB500 or 400. Very similar motor. Heaps a torque for a small bike and just a pleasure to ride. Really I guess it's just what your into. In the end I wanted more power for longer trips and have the xjr which is still that same retro style but about 5 times more grunt!
