Very good video, monarchist portugal is quite good to play. Bit of a newbie in HOI IV so take this with a pinch of salt: I prefer to use of the focus tree to rush to the brazilian civil war first and then restore the monarchy so stability doesnt sink so low and you get kingdom reunited 70 days earlier which is a plus. Also getting free trade after the first focus and getting the advisors after it to make use of tungsten and chromium resources earlier. Then i'd go and do the industry tree and get the research slots there and only then rush to standardization on the army tree and then move into luso-tropicalism but i didnt think of disregarding resesrch for so long for the sake of better production and see it pay off congrats.

The politics of Turkey in HOI4 are actually really accurate. Atatürk planned for Turkey to become a democratic republic, but feared that giving democracy to the people too early would result in a pivot back to religious fundamentalism. When you form the Ottoman Empire that's basically what you're doing. This is also why the CHP is unaligned at the start - it calls itself a republican party, but Turkey is at the time a single party state.

The allies are smoking crack in this playthrough. Poland is attacked by both Germany and USSR but they kick Poland out of the faction and contribute basically nothing because Poland wins.

The Allies really are just the worst.

Quick tip: While national spies are great, seducers are always better. Why? They're useful everywhere and once they're high level enough and become linguists, they can adopt the nationality of the country they're infiltrating the most anyway! Further more, spies are much more likely to be caught IF 1. You put them in the capital region of the enemy (the AI usually leaves one spy there which helps with detection and obviously that's where all spies spawn once they're done with missions making the risk of getting caught that much worse) 2. You don't stop building the network once it reaches 100% like I'm seeing you do here. Never build a network above what you need unless you're also spying on a useful front line region. Once the network is at the level you want it use the 'quiet network' option to make the change of getting your spies caught exceptionally rare if they're seducers and / or the correct nationality.
