    Those slots on the side of the cylinders were for coolant passages on the 4g63 block. The 64 block doesnt seem to have these. Why not put the whole engine in rsther than mix/match

    You could go with an exo cage with the snorkel integrated maybe double tube's to flow and still just look like a part of the cage, whatever you do it's a cool project😁👍

    • @DCCUSTOMSANDFABRICATION
      @DCCUSTOMSANDFABRICATION 10 годин тому

      The cage pipes are far to small and I was struggle with a cage with operating sliding door, I’m not too worried about a snorkel. I’m gonna make air filter as high as possible but this car is going to just be for camping and touring with the ability to do hard stuff and be a weapon on the road

    I would go twins. you could split the intercooler in 2 at the front and have a bottom entry for hot and a top exit for cold on each side, then the exit can be almost a strait shot into the throttle body on each side. then you only need to cross the exhausts to join them in order to get a fuller sound. I don't think you will ever get it sounding quite like a lambo as I think the firing order is different from any lambo v12, but I don't think you will get any decent sound out of it if you go large single as I think the turbo will sort of muddle it all together to much. i can sort of picture how you could plum them in my head. have the exhaust in at the top, with the outlet facing the middle and the air intake facing the wheels, then sort of s bend that into an airbox on each side. the air outlet would be at the bottom, facing forward, pretty much just 90 into the bottom of the intercooler. this would require mirror turbo's though. you would place the turbo's right up the front on either side of the engine, not right beside, that way the exhausts outlets point at each other, then you somehow double back to each stack on the back. maybe under each exhaust manifold if they will fit.

    What if you did a 4inch stainless snorkel on passenger side, and a stack on the driver side 4 inch that matches, and would look like twin stacks each side.

    I just put the long end of the allen key on the bolt, and then put the socket and a breaker bar on the short end of the allen key haha Did you not use the engine block of the 4g63 cause it's too hard to take the engine out of the van?

    As fun as turbos are for performance gains, you loose all the sexy V12 exhaust symphony. Have you considered the (massive task) idea of equal length 12 into 1 to gain that F1 screaming music?

  • @NathanNostaw
    @NathanNostaw 9 днів тому

    Such a crazy fun project. For rear traction it would be interesting to hear the opinions of a mechanical engineer. Currently the weight of the rear is equally distributed the 4 contact patches. Under heavy braking tests the distribution may change enough to allow a pair of tyres to lock. I wonder if there would be a benefit in running different spring rates on the the 2 rear axles.

  • @NathanNostaw
    @NathanNostaw 9 днів тому

    Electric may be common, but if $$$ was not a factor, hydraulic fans would be far more popular as i suspect they would be the most reliable and preferable fan. Not too hard to add a solenoid switch fluid bypass for water crossings.

  • @NathanNostaw
    @NathanNostaw 9 днів тому

    How hard would it be to control a twin VNT setup? Hardly as cool as compound but maybe variable would get the full range of rpm/boost with more control

    if you can get the R35 ones for a good price, go for it. front mount is the go. I love my subi and the fact the hood scoop is functional, but heat soak is a thing. you don't want to be out bush, with low airflow in the scoop while in boost in low range trying to do a hill climb or something. just the heat from the exhaust raising up will be enough to negate the benefits of a top mount intercooler past a certain point. if this was purely a street build, top would be fine. you will want to make sure you get some good high flow fans as going front mount will make cooling the engine a bit harder as you will be pre-heating the air for the radiator. steer clear of the davis craig shit, particularly their fan controllers as they fail. I tried going a fan controller with my old 4runner when the bearing went in the clutch fan and a 'cheap Chinese' one was over $700 for the bearing and housing alone. it was super unreliable. I ended up going a thermo fan out of a 3.5L magna as it was almost the perfect size, fairly slimline (no large motor protruding out), had 2 speeds and moved a lot of air. I got 2 fan temp switches (can't remember the exact temps, but think the first one was like 88c and the second was like 96c) so it had 2 speeds. the only problem I had with the system after that is one of the relays died. I had 2 relays, one was a random Chinese one I had lying around, the other was a narva one, the narva one was the one to fail. (to be fair, it was on the low speed side, so was used more). that was the good thing about that setup, it was 2 completely different sensors, relays and fuses from the battery, so if anything died on one, the other sill worked.

    • @DCCUSTOMSANDFABRICATION
      @DCCUSTOMSANDFABRICATION 13 днів тому

      Yeah, I agree. I think front mount is the way to go, I think I’ll just be getting some straight blade fans, I don’t mind if they are louder as they work better, probably just gonna run the fans full time and have a switch for when I go through water

      @@DCCUSTOMSANDFABRICATION you might have trouble keeping it up to temperature with it on constantly as thats what I did for a while between the failed controller and the 2 thermal switch setup and had trouble keeping heat in the engine.
