The Bellingham paddling community continues to rock it.

After a couple days of mismatch between forecast and conditions, we finally nailed it! Good waves, good wind, good paddlers.

I say it's a question, but it's probably not. After four days of fluctuating wind, I finally picked the right time for a run. It was worth the wait. Thanks Paul and David!

I'm sure there'll be more good wind when we leave, but this cooler day seemed like a nice end to our Gorge paddling for 2024. Thanks to everyone for the shuttles and good company.

This time a Drano run. The folks that didn't go to far corners of the globe have been great shuttle buddies. Thanks Dan, Michaela, Derek!

Most of our Gorge friends have gone elsewhere to paddle, but Paul and I snagged David D and Jim S to do a Mosier run yesterday. Mellow but fun. David guided me through a great section near Doug's.

Surfski paddler Duncan Howat does the Drano Lake to Hatch run on the Colombia River after his 80th birthday. Family and friends and a weekend in Stevenson, WA make the inaugural "Drano at 80" a fabulous new tradition. Make the pledge yourself! Stay active till 80 . As Duncan says, "Get slower slower."

It's always hard to describe a run. Forecasts are often misleading. Videos help, but not if your camera dies.

We're excited! We've had a good couple weeks now with good conditions. Thanks to good paddle buddies, reliable shuttle drivers, and lots of laughs. (This is the same video I posted last night, but w/out the annoying color bursts :)

Paul and I checked out some great hiking and paddling locations between Victoria and Port Renfrew and got to paddle with Greg, Ian, and Real, who all kindly organized a downwind run even though the big wind didn't materialize. Still a great paddle, though.
