ASMR - Compost distribution around a lovely garden in Devon, UK
One of my regular gardens gets its annual compost application, recycling all the waste from the previous year. This feeds and conditions the soil as well as providing forage for all the insects that live in the soil. A satisfying job done 👍

Apple tree orchard pruning - Winter 2025
Переглядів 22814 днів тому
This year marks the transition of taking this orchard from restorative and renovative pruning, into maintenance pruning for the foreseeable future. This is the most productive stage where annual pruning encourages fruiting spurs to form whilst keeping a strong framework to support the weight of the fruit produced

How To Prune - Apple Trees

How To Prune - Apple Trees I take you through the winter pruning of a mature apple tree. All I use is a ladder, secateurs and pruning saw. This pruning reduces the weight of branches during heavy summer crops, improves access, promotes formation of fruiting spurs and removes dead/diseased material to keep the tree healthy, productive and vigorous!

Hydrangea Pruning Fundamental Tips A channel dedicated to my professional gardening business
So, does you basically cut back the 1 year (leaf) growth only now?
Thanks for showing this. I find it hard to be quite so bold as you in terms of how much is pruned but, i think, ive followed the same general approach with my much younger trees. I might go a bit harder this autumn perhaps.
Promo SM 😬
Great to see both of the Welsh Thor Men ⚒️-at Gryff home orchard 🍎🍏
Great double act with Gruff. Very informative pruning advice on this video and in Gruff and Angharad's orchard.
Loved your episode with Gruff pruning his apple trees! Came to check out your channel & found this video about rose pruning very helpful. Have subscribed & am looking forward to seeing more gardening videos from you. We have an ornamental weeping pear tree that is in need of a really good prune….. any tips/advice? We were told to prune around June when the sap is rising. What are your thoughts? Many thanks
Unless Postman answers. . . You Prune Pears, Apples while they are Dormant (no green growth) when the buds are still tight and closed. And any Stone Fruit Trees : eg Cherry, Plum, Nectarine and Peach are done in June when in Full Leaf (tidy up) and do any Big Cuts (eg take of unwanted Limbs etc, after the Harvest) in eg Sept or Oct if in the South. Basically you want Trees to heal before the first Autumn Frost. Hope this helps. 😎 I am in the Scottish Borders so our Tree Season is shorter than say in the South of England, & Wales. Guess Ireland has the Gulf Stream so they too are less Frost Prone re Autumn time.
Hi Postman. . . Came over from Gwenyn Gruffydd's Bee Channel (!) Saw you doing his Apple Trees. I'm a bit of a Hobby Gardener and keep Bees too. Question: Do you know if the 'Rose Hips' off Rosa Rugosa are safe to 'Cook and Eat' as "Rosehip Syrup" at all ??? My neighbouring Land (Field) is edged in huge amounts of RR. And yes I collect 'Wild Rose Hips' in the Community Wood across from my place... But Wild Roses have less 'Hips' to Pick (!) Will attempt to give these RR a good Pruning, to the ones near my Access to my Home etc. The rest will have to remain Wild and Bushy for Roadside Nature ! Hope you can advise. Ps. Can you do a Video on Globe Artichoke and Jerusalem Artichokes please ! Former : I 'have' one plant. Is it dormant and likely to re grow ? Nursery bought but only made a tiny 1st year growth 'Thistle'. (Poor opportunity to gather any Seed. 😖) Hope to get some this growing season. Or just Buy some Commercial Seed instead ? To get a better Harvest... Love to eat more and have spare flowers 'Thistles' for the Bees ! 🤞 The latter I have had for Years : growing in one place. But the Tubers are the sizes of half a Thumb in 'length'. Do I have a variety (unknown) that someone else planted that is small in 'Produce' by default ?!And it hasn't spread in x20 or so Years ! Do they even Spread as a way of production ? Or could I take some 'Cuttings' of the Stems ? Know its normal to just plant a Tuber (but they are so tight amongst the Type-2 Chunky Impacted Drive Gravel it's impossible to get a Fork in and lift 'any' as Growing material ! These JA's are Growing in the lee of of West Facing End Gable. Compacted by Years of neglect rather than any Car Wheel !!! Bees do love the Flowers nonetheless (related to the Sunflower I gather !) Cheers in advance. 😎 🐝🌼🌻
Hi, apologies for the delayed response. I would prune weeping pears now in late winter. There is one at a garden I am visiting on Thursday which I haven’t got my hands on yet. If they let me I will do a standalone video on it as it really will be a transformation. About 75-80% removed
Griff Sent me......😎
Thanks for the video. I got here while researching for the same model. I have to manage 3 hectares of an abandoned farm with similar landscape. I am now more inclined to the purchase than i was before watching it, so i guess that's a good thing what you are doing. Wish you all the best
Thanks Edson, I have been using it a lot lately with brush blade and strimmer head for long grass in a meadow, it performs very well and the X harness is the most comfortable one I have used before. For me Husqvarna are superior to stihl with their engine power & torque in like for like models. Anyway good luck with your choice
