Lousy Fish Found Footage and Faves
It’s winter and I don’t ice fish hard enough to make vids. No Florida this winter either so there’s going to be a pretty long gap in videos. To make up for it, and to scratch my editing itch, here’s some of my favourite on film catches. Some were LF episodes and some were just hanging around, enjoy.

Return to El Jobean | Myakka River Fishing Log 3

Last vid for Florida fall 2023! It's been a couple years since venturing out to the El Jobean, should be doing it more often. Here's Rick and I trying our luck with some live greenbacks under and around the bridge.
My fishing instincts are wrong, let's try the opposite. Myakka RIver Fishing Log #2

I'm back in Florida and this video highlights four different attempts. I only get out a couple hours every day fishing the Myakka, and i'm learning almost every time - but still guilty of pounding the same places with the same lures... let's try something different. Bucket list fish included!
Let's hope there's fish this time! Myakka River Fishing Log

I'm back! In Florida that is. Searching for fish, not sure what's happening in the river these days so i'm chucking everything at everything and hoping for the best. I try and get out for 2 hours or so every morning, some are ok, some are busts, we're a few sessions in and it's still a bit of a grind.

This was about a 1.5 hr outing on the Myakka back in February. I'm just posting it now because i've been seriously slacking on the edits! Check it out, Jack Crevalles, I almost wish fishing was always this easy! And once those Jacks hit 5lb they can FIGHT. I can't imagine what a 20lb would do.

I'm back in FLA again in Feb. This time fishing even more casually then before, maybe 1-2 hours every other morning! I managed to get some small ones in this vid and took a few people out during the first week there. Enjoy.

Nik is gone back home, Dad and I head out for a couple of sessions, fishing is generally slow. I start to lose hope (as you do) but we still manage to get a few. I should learn how to edit out the slow times instead of being so share-y! But that's fishing!
Fishing Myakka River Series | Part 2: Lure Love
Переглядів 769Рік тому
Here's the next 10 minute installment as Nik and I continue our fishing/vacation on the Myakka River. We head out for an hour or two at a time so only take what we can get within that time and distance, fishing is slow but we persevere and catch whatever swims by us. Enjoy!
Fishing Myakka River Series | Part 1: Post-Ian and Fish Bingo
Переглядів 912Рік тому
My brother and I head for a rare vacation in November to Myakka River/North Port Florida for some sun and fishing. We are lucky to even go as Hurricane Ian hit the area hard just 5 weeks prior, and it shows. We make up a fish bingo game and document our short daily outings for snook, redfish, tarpon, jacks and whatever else wants to eat.

Might want to check with locals. I’ve eaten them before and delicious but it might be a seasonal thing, water gets algae choked in summer. Also has some old stories of sewage issues but I think that’s ancient history too and some folks just put off because they remember how it used to be…

I caught alot of fish out of that lake, there used to be monster jacks in there. The lake has drastically changed in the last 10 years and probably going to get alot more shallow because of no snow or rain. It needs a good flush because of the algae. Fort st John used to get there drinking water from that lake. It was very bad water especially in the summer, the tap water smelled and tasted like the lake.

    • @LousyFishermen
      @LousyFishermen 10 місяців тому

I've seen the algae. Like a carpet. But used to fish there a lot about 12 yrs ago and you could get 50 walleye in a day, which was wild.

So, you're back for the season, eh? I've been in Florida all my life and I've never seen such a dry summer! I don't know what effect that will have on this winter's fishing, but we'll see. It took forever to clean all that aluminum and foam out of the mangroves! I'm still not sure we got it all. More keeps turning up and the river bottom is filled with debris. You really ought to invest in a small boat like a Gheenoe or johnboat. It will open up all those creeks, marshes, backwaters, and distant upriver locations to you.
