"Nightmarionne" 3D designed and printed mask for halloween timelapse
Figured I'd post this, this was from last year's halloween. I had to design a mask based off of a character called "Nightmarionne" from Five nights at freddy's for Chase, here's a timelapse of the design in tinkercad. It's not the greatest, but the kiddo loved it!

SmartThings SmartHub Review

SmartThings SmartHub Review. I made the migration to the SmartThings SmartHub from originally starting my Home Automation project using the Staples Connect. In this video I go over some of the great features it offers but also why I made the migration over from my first hub! SmartThinks Hub link on amazon: amzn.to/2Qqqo4y
Staples Connect and GE ZWave Switch Review and Installation
Переглядів 15 тис.9 років тому
Figured I'd put up a review / installation of my Staples Connect hub and GE ZWave, because there are virtually no videos out there reviewing the hub or the switches. Connected Home and Home Automation : Staples Connect and GE ZWave Switch Review and Installation. And no - The Belkin switch did not work with the staples connect. The range on it was abysmal and I actually returned it, both for th...
Driving around with Toby the corgi

Welp today I figured I'd record Toby's commute from his doggie daycare where he hangs out with his other corgi buddies: Annie, Reggie, Cesear and Hamilton twice a week. Will try to get some clips of them together if I can!

JO! i love the vid but whats the bass sound called around '37? I use ROLI myself and have always had trouble finding a decent bass sound :) recommendations are welcome!!
This reply from Sept. 2019, and Staples has ended Connect support and D-Link Website has no support or mention of my D-Link HA1000 Connect Hub, that I bought used with great hopes. (It's the flat white hub, not the tall black hub from Brian's video) There is the possibility of Rooting the unit and getting LINUX control of it, Oh well.... Thanks, Brian for the video of what I missed.
Thanks for your comment @Fredo Mordaunt! Godspeed, it really is a shame they ended this product -- but the GE Switches are still working very well and now with a "Smarthings Smarthub" by samsung.
this is awesome im doing the same with my pop eagles vs redskins season opener , our first nfl game im 25 and he will be 52...yall deff had a good time
I miss having a dog. Maybe I will get another one when I find a small house.
An apartment works.
Dogs are cool.
Look at those beautiful dogs! 🐕
Hey Brian, what is your configuration to get the roli to be able to be recognized by the rc 505? I have both but I can't get the rc to read my actions on the roli? Thanks!
Hey @Mint_Chris, In this video I was messing around with the Roli app for the iPhone. That was plugged into the RC505, then I used the USB out to connect that to my laptop, which then recorded the audio. Hope that helps!
Thanks! Yep I figured it out yesterday and I guess I should have listened when you described it in the beginning of this video.
@@DJMintChris Hey I actually probably should have put that in the description! Plus, the video is 1.4hours long, so don't fault yourself too much! This piece of equipment is WAY too much fun!
Brian Kinney Another silly question. How do you get happy tones in your final song you created? It seems like all of my notes are dark and not that type of upbeat sound. I’m a rookie but eager to learn! Thanks!! Love the final little track btw!
@@DJMintChris Hey not a problem! I basically just through that together, I honestly think it's pretty terrible ... 🤣 ... for me at least, if I don't first start out with an instrument (i.e. I'm building the beat first) I subconsciously build how I want the piece will sound. Meaning, if I start with a fast pace drum beat and build on that, I'm more eager to add a silly organ to it and run through some key for a few minutes just fiddling around. Almost always if I start with my Piano, it's melancholic, or ... something that resembles spa music ... haha! Trying to get better at that, too! Basically that's why I actually bought my RC-505. I always wanted to sit down and bang something out really quick and it allows me to get the beat, backup instrument / lead out of my head so I can actually focus on the parts that make me feel "good" about what was running through my head as quickly as possible. That was quite a long-winded reply, I apologize!
7:32 sure wish you'd have removed your cap for the National Anthem. 😔 Glad you had a great day in this land of the free because of the brave.
Somebody stole your porch. Cus theres just rocks back there...
What is this silly music ☺?
Ha! A great little free tune I found online. Fits my dog Toby's personality quite well! Thank you for the comment :)

Oh my goodness! This is just amazing, I don't know your father but he seems like such a genuine person and he deserved this 100x, you're a great person and I'm so glad you guys had this experience I hope one day I can make my parents that happy the way you made your father happy... My parents deserve so much and it's nice to see other people admire and appreciate their parents too because sadly now there aren't a lot of kids who appreciate their parents
You need OpenHAB mate, then integrate everything into that
+chimeranzl Checking it out now, cheers!
Brian Kinney It's a little hard to get your head around at first, but its well worth learning as its a fantastic piece of home automation kit - even better that its open source and FREE! Ties into many different vendor devices supporting all their protocols. Once version 2.0 comes out, it'll make life a lot easier when configuring things (apparently new version has "wizard" driven menu's as opposed to manually editing configuration files in 1.x release) Good luck!
Thanks! I will follow up with my more complex configurations soon then. Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed the video, I'll definitely continue making them.
Great work. I have beta tested a few pieces of hardware for Insteon. I'm starting to build a system and was considering Insteon, Wink, or Smartthings. Based on your review I may have to scrap what Insteon gear I have and go with Smartthings. Any other videos you make would be helpful too. Subscribed.
you have a transmit problem with your cable modem the yellow light by the US= Upstream is telling you this
Thank you for making this video!
+Chris Policastro Hey thanks! I'm trying to get better at these. I have a ton of tech I've been asked to review so if you have any suggestions let me know. I know the editing is trash but I tried to jot some notes before the video :)
+Brian Kinney (webdevb) Hey, not the best looking video, but the content is what I was looking for. Looking to buy a smartthings hub and trying to get some "real" people using it not paid advertisers or people who don't seem to know what they are talking about. The content is there and that's what counts! If you do some cool projects with smartthings you should share it.
hey man, that's a really nice review! Just a qq on your desk light.. is it dimmable ready? i'm looking to get a couple of these GE but not sure if they can be dimmed from my ST hub? GE Link, Wireless A19 Smart Connected LED Light Bulb, Soft White (2700K), 60-Watt Equivalent, 1-Pack Thanks!
+Khaled Hiato Thank you! I'm trying to get better at these! The desk light is a standard $9 desk lamp with a GE Link Bulb in it. It is totally dimmable with the SmartThings hub, and one of the biggest reasons I like it actually. The Staples Connect only offered off and on functionality, where the SmartThings hub gives you a huge slider where you can go from 0 - 100 on it. What's great is if your a big fan of smartapps like I am, you can be specific to the dim level you set things on automated or manual activities. Too cool!
+Brian Kinney (webdevb) awesome! i Googled it after i left you a comment and found out that the GE connected bulb is actually dimmable, it was a surprise to almost everybody who bought it as it doesn't clearly say it is! and yea, im a geek same like u, in fact, my ST kit is on the way as we speak! thanks for the reply, have a good Holidays!
+Khaled Hiato You too!
hey how many wires does it require to connect the switch, my home only have 3 and one of them is the neutral?
+RR Market Three wires are most likely neutral, hot and ground. If that's the case and you can properly identify them then hooking up should be straight forward. If you have four wires like with 14/3 cable, one is a travel wire.
+RealityCheck41 RealityCheck41 is correct. The inputs on the back of the switch should have the right connections for your cables :)
+Brian Kinney (webdevb) thanks for the fast response, I'm in the carribean and they only use 2 wires the black and white wire thats it I'm building a home and i ask for the electrician to add the neutral wire but that would leave me only with 3 cables. i was wondering if with the 3 cables this will work.
+RR Market Congrats! I've been to most of the islands in the west indies, love that area! If they only use black and white that's hot and neutral. The device should be grounded, however. yes, if you had the three cables (hot, neutral and ground) you're good to go. You do not want to run anything really, without it being properly grounded! Hope that helps. Good luck with the buildout! Toss me an invite for some rum punch later on :)
+Brian Kinney (webdevb) Thank you for the help.
