Hatchet (2006-2017) - Franchise Review [ Four Slashers I Finally Watched ]
The Hatchet film series consists of American slasher horror films developed from original characters created by Adam Green; including four feature length films. The plot primarily focuses on the unintentional encounters of innocent civilians, with the living urban legend of deformed hermit Victor Crowley (portrayed by Kane Hodder under heavy makeup) and the character's violent murders.

I always listen to the negative reviews on any movie, on imdb- because the average pleb will watch their lives slipping away on low rent ultra modern garbage that is slopped out to all the pleb pigs. And the 10/10 reviews are all lying cancer. Havent watched this yet but clearly the lying tv execs wanted to pretend it was a horror comedy. Misbranding your movie to trick ppl into seeing it is a scumbag move. "Satanic panic" basically means "we hate christians and want to show them as ridiclous". You couldnt mock muslims or }ews like this without violence and/or being canceled. I say that as an atheist. Your review is pretty vague and bland but you look like the target audience, someone who doesnt take care of themselves or vaccined your health away and now you are looking for anything to distract you from real life, even if its boring and bland with unlikeable characters who are cashing in on their old, lost talent.

I watched this last night and was going to comment this morning. I woke to to the news that Tony Todd has passed away at 69. I mostly knew him from Star Trek and a handful of movies. After only recently getting into horror and watching The Exorcist at the cinema I wanted to get hold of a few more horror movies. Candyman was one of those movies. it was such an amazing movie. I know he has been in several other horror movies so he will be a huge miss.

This is supposed to take place in the 80s? I watched a trailer and had no idea. Personally I think they did a terrible job makings it look 80s, the hair especially but clothes, room decor, everything does not feel like they even tried. And I was there in the 80s. I'm actually pretty stunned. It makes me not want to watch because it will bug me so much. And I love Bruce Campbell.

It's taken a couple of days to give this my full attention. I've said most of this before but it feels like a perfect time to say it again. I've only recently got into horror and the only one of this franchise is the first one. I saw it for the first time about a year ago and although a solid and enjoyable movie, I didn't fully get why it was held in such high regard. After watching The Exorcist at the cinema and totally got blown away by it. I then got it on Blu-ray along with The Shining, Candyman and Halloween and Halloween was the weaker of those movies. Because I love sci-fi and special effects, I've watched things about horror while often finding the movies too cheesy to watch all the way through. I'm really appreciating them more over the last 2 years. These Supercuts have been a great way to catch up on these franchises.

22:02 I genuinely enjoy it. Remove the comedic aspects and you have a pretty good Halloween film. 1. Since Halloween 2 no other sequel (at the time) could accurately depict the Myers house. 2. The Rendition of theme song is easily one of the better themes to ever come out the franchise. 3. After the terrible mask mishaps in H20 the Mask in Resurrection is easily one of the better ones especially when lit in low light lighting. 4. Brad Loree’s performance as Myers is definitely a memorable one imo as he definitely has movements similar to both Castle and Warlock. 5. Most fans tend to overlook Laurie’s death in this film and chock it up to bad writing but what most fans don’t know is that JLC is the one who wanted to be killed off, originally she was gonna commit suicide however she decided to change that into what we actually see on screen. I also like the hidden theme behind her death as it shows that the character could never truly escape evil. 6. The cliffhanger ending definitely set up another sequel and this timeline as a whole definitely could’ve been expanded upon and most likely would’ve had John Tate return as our main protagonist which was planned for an unmade sequel known as “Halloween Retribution” which I’m currently in development of a fan film adaptation. Halloween Retribution is an upcoming Halloween Resurrection sequel fan film based on the unmade sequel of the same name, rewritten by Jaheim Brisbane and co-written by Cohen Clark. The film will also be directed by Jaheim Brisbane. The plot synopsis is as follows. After the events of Halloween Resurrection, Michael Myers roams free around Haddonfield, haunting the survivors of his previous massacre and traumatizing a new generation, while Laurie Strode's son, John Tate, travels to Haddonfield with the belief that the Shape is still alive and seeks out Leigh Bracket to exact vengeance on the masked killer.

The original is the only one that I have ever seen and being honest it was probably about 30 years ago. Most of what I remember is around the Peter Vincent character. Certain movies I do remember staying up late to watch as a teen but this would have been an edit suitable for afternoon or early evening. If I had to describe the tone of the movie to someone I would put it somewhere around Gremlins. With what I have learned since, while there is a strong thread of comedy, the horror can also be very intimidating and dark.

Some say it's too slow of a burn for a lot of current audiences, but that's what I like most about it- the ominous, building dread and terror of Rosemary's realization & love Polanski's depiction of her "dream" sequences and reveal scene when Rosemary utilizes the Scrabble tiles..exceedingly creepy! 🎃👻

As I've said before, my interest in horror is quite new but I have dabbled in the franchise because of how popular they were to the culture of the time. I've seen the first one twice and I wasn't a fan. There were so many things that it did right as a movie. Acting that was good or fun often both, it was well shot with great timing. My issue came that instead of relying on the subtle clues to misdirect people it tried to hard to point the finger and by the end I didn't care who the murderers were or why they did it.

5:10 Actually, this is technically the X rated version. Director Chris Walas kept submitting the film to the MPAA over and over and they asked him to cut some gore scenes, particularly the head crush scene, but he realized that if he cut any more then the effect would pretty much be lost. So after the umpteenth time, he submitted the full x rated cut AGAIN to the MPAA and for some reason they thought it was okay this time, and gave it an R rating, when it fact it's the original cut all along lol. Another tidbit, In the screening's at some theaters they had nurses on standby for people who may be sick or faint, which a few did lol.

This has been a great compilation. Most of them were made before I joined your channel. I keep pointing out that I've only recently got into horror and although I have expanded my experience of the horror genre, I haven't watched any of the Friday the 13th series yet. Because I love sci-fi and special effect features, I ended up watching a lot of stuff about horror but had little desire to watch the movies themselves. Even though I've seen a lot of special effects features and scene breakdowns, actually getting around to watching the movies is still fresh. It adds a whole new context to what I have seen before rather than just feeling that I've seen it all before. As I was typing this I almost said 'thinking' and although we do analyse movies afterwards, we watch them because we want to feel something.

    • @CaturdayNite
      @CaturdayNite Місяць тому

The first four Friday the 13th films are probably the best. It gets a bit strange after that, though. Sometimes, the later sequels in a long running horror franchise are more silly/fun than anything else. Now to dive into Puppet Master III.....of which there are like 13 I think, which I hear after part 4 they kind of fall apart.

I've never heard of this movie but it was probably more specific to the US in terms of airing. I can definitely see where you are coming. Cheesy and dated at times but it had ambition to tell an engaging and wholesome story. Hunt for the Red October is an awesome movie and I listened to the Audiobook of it about 3 years ago.

I rather liked Fly II. Eric Stoltz and Daphne Zuniga had great chemistry together (even if Stoltz is technically playing a five year old). And we realize that Seth had a VERY good reason to avoid Bartok Industries! Lee Richardson makes a VERY good bad guy - always did, really - and I will say that Bartok got what he deserved. I thought that Chris Walas did a very good job with his first directorial effort. Even if you can make the special effects guy into a director but you can't take the special effects guy OUT of the director! I remember the Behind the Scenes video on the blu ray release that Walas spent more time dissecting the special effects than he did on his direction! Still, he clearly learned his lessons well from David Cronenberg, and came out with a very good film. And the special effects - no freaking CGI! - were fantastic. I never saw it as gore for gore's sake - it DID have its place. Still, what they did to the doggie....

Can't believe it has been 10 years. I saw Robocop 2 first and It's my favourite. I totally get why people love the original but for me, 2 I love the Drug angle especially when it was used as method of controlling RoboKain. I also liked the the character of Hob in that movie. Anyway, there were some decent aspects to this movie but it just didn't hit the mark. I don't think it was a total disaster, just low energy. I agree that it did have some great characters and did try to do something different and more modern with the context of the story.

I was a science nerd in school … well, still a science nerd as an adult. This movie is forever stored in my geek vault of favorites:-).

@agentdyer i wish I could find a decent bluray that isnt some import or overpriced. A triple feature of this, Weird Science, and Real Genius is perfect.

Although not familiar with this movie I have seen a lot of older TV movies. While they could be hit or miss, I think most movies were trying to make something with purpose, to be enjoyed or to show the talent of the Actors, writers and production group. With streaming, some of the content is very hollow, simply to fill schedules and time. While the camera quality may not hold up, I think the acting and storytelling can.

I think a first-time viewer might be wise to check it out at home first. Mainly, because one of the last times I went to see it at a movie theater, the audience was yelling out their responses so continually that I really couldn't hear the movie at all. By then I pretty much knew all the dialogue by heart (having watched it around 50 times lol) so I already knew what was going on, but a newbie might be totally lost.

This 70s cult classic has a killer soundtrack and I personally also loved the early 80s follow-up 'Shock Treatment', which was way ahead of its time with whole 2000s reality TV obsession era while influencing movies like The Truman Show :-)

I've missed some of the franchise, and really should re-watch them all... I know I liked the first two a LOT and I think part of why I stopped watching was probably because I doubted any could be that good again. Knowing me I'll give them all a watch around the time this newest one hits streaming.
