Hello all! Despite getting a perfect score on the chemistry/physics section of the MCAT, I forgot 90% of the physics that is necessary to do well on the exam, mostly because I hate physics and I think it is incredibly boring compared to the other sciences. I hope this one short lecture helps! See below for our spreadsheet detailing all of our lectures, as well as the drive folder that contains ...

You’re back, just in time for me to start studying for my retake 😭
GOATTTTTTTTT
Thank you for these videos! They helped me a lot with my review and happy to say I don't have to watch any more of them as I just received my score and I don't need to take the exam again!!
my goat is back
He’s backkk!! I really appreciate you making these videos :)
Thank you for these videos 🙏🏿🙏🏿
My goat is back, bro’s ig reel likes are top tier
@@graemereece6301 HAHAHAHA i’ve been caught
@@yusufahasan you’re done bro, rip med school
Hell yea thank you for these videos man
HEEEES BAAAAACK
Very informative video, thank you for your work :)
@@malakinspirit68 you are so incredibly welcome :)
also quick note about the n’s, i believe only gametes are n (1 stick), all autosomal cells are 2n (2 sticks), but in S phase when there’s now X’s instead of sticks and there’s sister chromatids the cell is still 2n ( | | is the same polidy as X X which is 2n and | is the same ploidy as X which is n). replicating the one chromatid (which i think you call single strand, but the DNA is always double stranded in both | and X) into sister chromatids instead of one chromatid doesn’t change the ploidy which is why mitosis starts 2n and ends with 2 2n cells, but meiosis goes through two rounds of division starting 2n and ends with 4 haploid n cells. i could’ve been misunderstanding the video but there’s no point where the cells are “4n”
@@DA-gw8in hi! Thank you for you comment. Your assessment, though logical, is untrue. (I I) is considered 2n because n is the number of chromosomes in the animal (23 for humans, wherein a pair of each makes 46, so the 2n number is 46). Once you make the DNA double stranded, you increase the chromatid number to 92, which is 4n. you can see an example of this naming system here, as made by the USMLE www.usmle-forums.com/attachments/mitosis-meiosis-jpg.840/
@@yusufahasan Hmmm Kaplan seems to say something else: "Note that the ploidy of the cell does not change even though the number of chromatids has doubled. In other words, humans in this stage still only have 46 chromosomes, even though 92 chromatids are present." so yes, in interphase you increase the chromatid number to 92, but ploidy is only based on the number of chromosomes which remains 46 (i don't believe the USMLE has made the annotations to that graphic, I found several un-anotated versions of it that text was added to in the student made USMLE forum you sent). Overall, I think there isn't a single agreed upon way to describe it (just found multiple nature articles with conflicting info haha) but I think the most important thing is the number of chromosomes remained the same from the start of interphase (46) through the start of mitosis (46) and the resulting daughter cells (46) even if the number of chromatids changes (46 --> 92 --> 46).
no way just reviewed this chapter!!stoked this series is back, many thanks from seattle :)

Skipping chapter 1? Or just use the older vids?

Hi Yusuf. Thank you for your videos! Is there a resource you recommend for looking at all the needed molecular formulas to know?
When Ca ion binds to toponin, it causes a confromational change on tropomyosin which exposes the myosin-binding site on actin. Think of it this way, toponin being flirty with ca2+ forgets its self and makes tropomyosin expose myosin binding site on actin, so now myosin will inturn be attracted to those bindinh site, making it leave ADp + pi alone (in reality, ADP + pi detaches from myosin, allowing it to bind to actin causing a power stroke, or as Dr Ritucci from Wright state would say, "it causes a ratcheting" which makes the sarcomere shorten, then newly formed ATP will come againand bind to myosin, causing it to detach from actin again, repeating the cycle) I love muscle physio!
this mf dont miss, He dont miss. enjoying learning. chemistry fr
Did you go over glycogenolysis?
thank u so much studied this like a thousand times and never got it this way you're an artist
27:54 Do you think the nucleus gives a fuck what happens to that... made my day. Thank you for your thorough explanations.
I know you said don't clap, but I had to clap at home 😂
Studying to retake the MCAT for a 2nd time; planning on watching 3 videos a day, which should equate to almost 1 month. And then gonna hammer down u-world, anki, and practice tests :D . This channel is a hidden gem
The sperm does contain mitochondria or no? there is a picture in the kaplan book, it say sperm has mitochondria
As a physics major, I hereby apologize for the complexity of physics. 💀 Even I get confused on the electrodynamics.
Just wanted to tell you @Yusuf, that ALL OF US are JUST IMMENSELY GRATEFUL TO YOU! :)
oof. really needed that pep talk at 31 minutes in. thank you!
Kevin 😵
Is this like the whole chemistry I need to know for mcat? BTW if you're reading this, I can't thank u enough for your work.🤍💎 It means so much to me rn, you can't even imagine
31:27 at this point on the right side when you’re explaining point 4, how the cell goes back up to rmp after hyperpolarisation, if NaK pumps activate and 3 Na+ goes out and 2 K+ comes in wouldn’t that give rise to a net -1 charge within the call hence decreasing the voltage of the cell instead of increasing it up to rmp
Yusuf, I'm currently in the process of studying for the MCAT (as in I legit just started prep a week ago) and was looking for videos to supplement book content review. I found you off youtube and am genuinely so grateful cause I feel like I'm in one of your classes irl!! You keep me so engaged and entertained the whole time and provide really good analogies or examples of so many different topics. I'm currently switching between your orgo and physics vids and you've been a huge help. Just wanted to let you know, even though I've never met you, you are very much appreciated and gifted. Some professors teach to make money and others do it out of passion. I can absolutely tell your reason is out of passion and that you are truly meant to be in this line of work. THANK YOU!!! :D

you kill me when you talk about doing this for free lol, petition for you to be paid!!
Yusuf I just wanted to say I love your videos so much. Inshallah your content will help me get a 520+.
Idk if im correct or not but is it + when it is going Clockwise at 11:08 is it going towards the A side? because it is R and it is going clockwise ?

Hate this chapter lol it’s boring and just have to blunt memorize everything :/ Thanks for breaking it down and helping make it less boring!
Awesome explanations akhi but I wish there were fewer f bombs.
