5:55 OH so thats why theres afking hole in one the chambers lolf
As far as I know, "You'll Never Take Me Alive" actually always triggers if you jump into the water in the room in Endless Canyon where you activate the little bridge that lets you access the bottom floor, just to the left of the torch/totem thing that lights it. Even if there are no pursuers chasing you (in fact, I don't think you even need to turn the lights off). I took the description's "instead of dodging past them" to mean "instead of sneaking back through the long room to reach the hand that takes you back to the entrance" In fact, until now I didn't even know it was possible to get it any other way. I thought it was specific to that area because I've only ever seen people get it there.
I hope y’all play more of this because it is funny as hell! Love the edits too
Love the video, any outer wilds content is a win ::) I guess I would disagree with a few things tho - 1. Hot shot, imho incredibly overrated achievement in terms of difficulty. I suppose controlling the ship is harder on controller (and movement overall is much harder tbh, I don't know why controller is pushed as the intended way of playing, I had a much better time with keyboard+mouse), but even then it took me about 5-6 tries. I'd put it like easiest of the hard achievements maybe 2. Probably not going to be the only one, but archaeologist is pretty easy if you've finished the game - any of the hidden texts you can simply search for on the internet ship log, I don't think links are allowed in comments but just google it and youll find it - incredibly helpful. 3. And for last, die hard. By the used footage, I'm assuming you actually kept jumping up and down... Dude, there's campfires! you can just reach critical health on a campfire like 12-15 times (or more if you dont want to risk it) and then wait. This is literally one of the easiest achievements, definitely easier than things like micas wrath or f-ing ghosts in the machine!! I genuinely can't criticize tho, seeing how much effort you put into this video. I did most of the achievements for fun but I do not possess the nerves to do tubular or you can't catch me alive, so kudos for doing them ::D
i saw a playthrough once where sopmeone landed on the sun station manualy on there first time and they where really early in the game so they had no context for what was happening
i got the losing fuel one and 60 second accidentaly and then i got the snapping neck one because i was messing around right after learning about being way from your lantern and went near the procuer to do tests and had my neck reajusted
6:27 I gt that one accide tally bc I wasn't sure if they can see me while being outside the radius so I decided to just test it
I actually landed on the sun station before I ever teleported to it in my first play through. I had no clue how to use the ash twin project until the end but I did have spaceship experience from elite and star citizen so I decided to just land on the fast orbiting object because hey that looks cool.
i got 'youll never take me alive' accidentally in the endless canyon stealth section. when you light the bridge up inside the building i jumped to the left off the balcony and landed in water by mistake
Honestly surprised by Archeologist being the top. But I guess my relationship with OW is a bit closer to an obsession. That being said, ‘Tubular’ almost made me ask it for a breakup lol. Thanks for making this, it was an awesome watch! There’s nothing I despise more than youtubers who just retread the same topics already well covered, or at worst just make a video spoiling the whole game while adding zero substance.
I got «You’ll never take me alive» on accident. Was so scared I jumped into the water lol
Without knowing about achievements I wanted to land on the sunstation myself, well, it was a challenge with my brother, as we played Outer Wilds together not long after it came out on his roommate's console Of course I did it, I loved flying that ship
I had a lot of fun with the hotshot achievement. Didnt use a guide (or, rather, i tried one but it wasnt very helpful, i so decided to just wing it) and on my successful attempt i was orbiting the sun for a good 5 minutes before i saw the SS, and when i got there i nearly had a heart attack when i made the mistake of getting out of my chair, causing the suns gravity and the randomish rotation of my ship to pull me away from the hatch, but apparently i had given the ship a slight rotation in the right direction so i ended up leaving the ship just a few hundred meters further away from the station that i was supposed to, and made the rest of the journey shipless. I then spent the rest of the loop on the SS cockpit so i could see what happens, and as it turns out the sun is stronger than gravity crystal flooring
Really enjoyed the sound design on the achievement title cards, great video!
12:50 I've watched one playthrough where someone landed on the Station on the first loop; they said they knew how due to Kerbal Space Program.
I got oof ouch, my bones intentionally, I just wanted to see what happens if I was caught
Rigidbody took me like 13 attempts because I kept bumping it downwards such that it crashed into the planet. That doesn’t work, you have to bump it upwards so it flies off into space, but I didn’t get that from “de-orbit”.
You can also use the eject button when enabling free looking in the cockpit (the hotkey is shown in the UI)
My biggest flex to date is getting Tubular on my first try ::D
the taking damage one I definitely got by accident, but I don't remember how, there's so many ways you can take a lot of damage in this game lol
I think a lot of the later easy ones are definitely ones people will get out of curiosity, if not by accident
Yknow, I really wish the Flat Hearther achievement could be achieved with the launch bay elevator That one is a *lot* more natural than the Stranger one (No, I don't think getting crushed on Ember Twin should count, but it would be funny as its own achievement... But, understandably, it isn't)
I actually had to grind for marshmallows and using oxygen as fuel. Silenced cartographer i also did only by trying to. Also, hotshot is intermediate. Its not that hard when you know how to enter a low sun orbit. I will add to that, its easier of you go with your ship between 2 pillars, then your speed can easily match their speed. Also, wont for waking up in simulation the campfire going out work as well?
holy shit this is so underrated, hilarious video
you can hide the flame for neck snapped achievment, you don't have to leave the artifact
I got the "you will never take me alive" achivement by mistake when doing my initial run of the dlc. Then hotshot. I just wanted to land on the sun station after completing everything (except achivements) told myself that "this is gonna take a few attempts" ... I did it on my first try, and was surprised over the achivement. Anyways, actually 100% this game was quite fun, as most of em felt like you just get em for messing around.
played through the game very recently and i managed to get on the sun station not knowing that i could use a teleporter instead lmao. i had my ship held down onto the entrance of the sun station with the thrusters, and the plan was to quickly rush out of the ship right after letting go of the control seat and then fly into it. it was super duper difficult since the physics of the game would fly me around inside the ship trying to get to the hatch and the momentum always pushed me away from the hatch, but i eventually manage after analyzing which orientation of the shipi was easiest to exit! i was able to read most of the text in the sun station but it burnt up before i could read like the last 2 lines to find, so then i tried again but i didnt have the luck that got me in the first time so i searched up and found a video of a guy doing a bit of the same thing i did but instead he used this brand new button ive never seen before called "eject". so thats how i found out the eject button exists lmao
For me either tubular or You'll never take me alive due to having to repeat like 3 times or more. Die hard is another tedious one that I needed to do more times because I died before ending the loop and it was worth a try due to all the time I needed and not knowing the enough distance.
I am ashamed to admit i had to look up a guide for one part. It never clicked that the Owl guys in the first dream area would die when the dam breaks
the editing made this 10x better than the masterpiece it already was
literally, i cant play this with certain people because it genuinely ruins friendships
Curiously enough on my first playthrough I got Harmonic Convergence before ever leaving Timber Hearth! I was playing around with the signalscope near the ghost matter display thinking "it'll be very cool when I get to a place where I can line up all the instruments" and then suddenly got the achievement because all the instruments where in frame at the same time.
After beating the full game and starting the achievement hunting, Hotshot only took me a couple of attempts. The physics came to me pretty naturally. Tubural tho.... that was by far the most annoying and hardest one.
I got the "gone in 60 seconds" by accident on my very first loop ever. I hadnt even gone to the museum yet. I was messing with the geysers in the middle of the village and one shot me high enough for fall damage to kill me XD
4:00 You don't have to stop piloting to hit the eject button. Just hold alt to freelook and you can target the eject button while still flying. I learned I can eject after... I think Slate might have mentioned it. Or after I survived a crash with an auto-eject. I used the eject button a few times before I learned how easy the reactor was to repair. And then once after when I was in a situation that made me think I couldn't repair the reactor in time.
9:30 I didn't knew it was possible to mark objects through the journal on the first playthrough so I did this route with marking vessel through the seed near escape pod
Watched this video when it first came out Decided to play Getting Over It Beat it, took 14 hours, it was amazing, I loved all of it, even when I was failing Then beat it 50 more times Thank you for inspiring me to play one of my now favourite ever games.
i considered going for the 50 achievement but never committed, so big ups haha
10:41 For anyone trying to do the 1000 damage achievement I suggest going to the energy lab in ashen twin and use the cactuses as you can park your ship just in front of them and I did it in like 5 min or less
The achievements were fun to hunt. Gave me many more hours of playtime in this world after beating the game and DLC. Tubular was by far the hardest one for me haha
Wait, landing on the sun station manually is possible? I swear I tried this once and my ship clipped right through the sun station, as if it weren't really there.
3:31 -- Even more embarrassing is calling the shuttle home WHILE your ship is sitting in the canon. (Yes, I did it.) Spoiler Alert: It's not pretty.
De-orbiting the hearthian satellite was was the only 'unusual' achievement I got without reading the list. I spent a whole loop following the probe though, I think that should have been one.
5:28 Actually, you can get if you're on the Interloper. I don't remember when it happens but there is a certain moment time bracket where you can get all the signals if you're on the comet's frontside.
3:21 The first time I got this achievement was when I was on Brittle Hollow and I was unlucky enough to launch my ship straight into Hollow's Lantern. Truly horrifying moment.
i actually got harmonic convergence by accident whilst still in the solar system, because i was at the dark bramble using my sonar and it switched to the music and boom achievement. didnt even know it was an achievement you could get
The ony achievements i used a guide for was tubular and archeologist. I spent so long trying to get tubular me and my friend dicided to race to see who could do it first.
Ghosts in the machine is actually ridiculously easy as long as you've completed the DLC. The stuff you learn in each forbidden archive trivializes getting back there.
for some reason i didnt realize you could get around the stranger in 90 sec “normally” until this video, so my strategy for the achievement was riding the wave the Entire way across the stranger which took forever but was also so much fun to execute perfectly
Screw the Giants deep one.
