Difference Between Carbon and Steel
Subbed and liked! Love the review as I’m about to place an order of their nanook when I get back from holiday next month
I have a Bergara HMR in 300 win mag and considering going CF barrel. How would a carbon fibre barrel hold up in terms of durability
How much lighter is the CF barrel? A little lighter or significantly lighter that it’s worth the significant extra cost?
Thanks Tom
Good vid Nick!
I thought Sig said they designed the Cross for easy barrel swap…
How do I get an sig cross chambered in .375 Raptor?
Get a sig cross and straight jacket will probably chamber you a barrel for it
I talked to Nick on the phone today regarding the barrel I ordered/received for my SigCross, great guy could have talked to him for hours! He has/shared a ton of insight, experience and knowledge on long range shooting, rifles and shooting competitions. The barrel looks better than I imagined, I wish the thought had crossed my mind to send my rifle in when I ordered the new barrel, but I didn't. While on the phone Nick hooked me up via the website, with a way to send the gun back to have it installed, the cost was very affordable. Thanks Nick and everyone at Straight Jacket Armory. Nick I was serious about you putting your knowledge/experience out in the form of youtube content!
I seem to recall an interview with John Krieger where he said “premium hand lapped barrels come broken in from the factory” he then moves on to say that he cleans his barrel when the rifle tells him to. As I’ve continued in my journey of long range shooting, I’ve began to more and more understand what he meant when he said that. Conversing with local (new generation) shooters like myself, We tend to all agree that old teachings of barrel break in procedures are out dated, unnecessary and time consuming for no benefit. It’s nice to hear an updated opinion about this put out for the world to see. This is sound information. Thank you for that
Where did you get the cross tag on the hand guard
Do you guys cut 22-250 barrels for the sig and can I run that on the Sig?
Great content my barrel is being shipped from you all and I can’t wait I am so excited. I did look in to it a bit and the comment made by @FC2ESWS is in fact true you can use a 1-1/16” 12 point box wrench in place of the Midwest industries hand guard wrench
Music is distracting
Have any of those better tools that Nick mentioned as alternatives to the handguard wrench come to market yet?
Are you guys selling 375 raptor ammo?
Can you get a sig cross without a barrel? 🤔
Anyone know what Impact torque specs are ?
I went with a Carbon barrel for my Bergara BXR as it is used for SCSA and Rimfire Challenge. The lighter weight (4.7lbs) makes it very fast from one target to another. If I was shooting NRL long range I would use a steel barrel. There is a place for both.
My lock ring is on there really tight. I made sure I'm turning the right way. I'm going to have to get crafty to turn that ring out without damaging it.
No need to break in barrels
does the heavy contour fit into the sig sauer factory chassis?
Why make it 1 1/16 x 18"? You are limiting your customer base. I was looking until I saw that. Good looking action, but good luck.....
Well being we have people on here that believe this is complicated you might want to make sure they know you need go no go gauges for the caliber there installing being with the .470 bolt face you can go with 22cm 6cm 243 6.5cm or 308 but will need gauges for what caliber barrel your installing
Did you remove the firing pin/extractor/ejector from the bolt before headspacing?
Yes, I would have a professional do it. About time you spend the money for all the proper tools, will you know where this is going? Have a professional do it! Very nice video.
Are you removing the ejector before setting headspace? Is it needed?
your
The Solus can drop into the W3 with no modification?
Just bought a barreled action from you guys in 6gt besides the fact there work is amazing quality there customer service is beyond incredible. I will be ordering another one soon
Please tell Cole I found this video on “breaking in” my new SJA prefix barrel.👍
Hart barrels are also excellent. I have a custom REM 600 in 7-08 and a REM 700 in 222, they both are very accurate. 👍
Thank you for the video, can we get the barrel weights?
"Promosm"
Where can I find the go/no go gauges?
Have you been able to reload these cases? If so, is there and issue with resizing or seating primers? What primers does it use?
I would like to see what those 170 gr EOL bergers do with that hybrid case. A 20 in barrel pushing 170gr at 3000fps would make a great hunting rig. Id also like to see what velocities Sig is getting with that hybrid case in 6.5 creedmoor. Getting 6.5 prc speeds in a heavier gun with double stack AW mags for PRS, with an EC Tuner brake seems like an interesting combination.
🙂 Which projectile?
This is the factory
@@straightjacketarmory And the factory projectile is what?
135gr with a 7.5 twist? Seems a little fast for that weight…
If it’s the hybrid ammo is a 150gr
@@attrezzopox it’s the 150gr I think that’s the only available hybrid case stuff at the moment
Excellent video, thx.
Glad you liked it!
Great no-BS video. Strait to the point. I like it
Glad it helped
Any idea what the OEM sig cross 16” .308 barrel weighs?
Cool video.
Great detailed video!
You're = You are Your = belongs to you
Interesting
Are you going to add the upcoming new tools in the future?
Any videos of accuracy after install?
I wouldn't even try that myself.Nice to know we have professionals like you that we can rely on.Excellent information.
Thank you 😊
Is that just a standard AR10 barrel that attaches to the extention?
No its actually made to fit a sig
😎
You should warn that people are breaking that dowel pin if they do the nuts in this order. You need to loosen that jam nut first while the barrel nut is still on. If you try it afterwards, the only thing holding that barrel extension from spinning is that dowel pin.
The jam nut is the one that requires the 1 1/16 12point crowfoot, correct?
@@DrewMonge yeah it's the smaller nut. The bigger one uses an AR armorer's tool.
@@FC2ESWS Thank you!
