Might be a dumb question, but if you're going to paint and you are using a primer first, why do you have to sand?

I think it turned out nice, good work. However, this brings home to me the dangers of picking up free furniture, roadside or not. The chance of bringing home rodents or bugs is very real along with Hantavirus.

Congrats. That looks great. You did an awesome job. I don't think I have the courage to paint the cabinets in our home. Luckily at this time there is no reason to. But kudos to you for taking it on and doing it right and getting what looks to be a great result. I just painted our hallway at my house Gauntlet Gray. Very nice color. Very difficult to work with though IMO. Definitely have to be very methodical in rolling it on. I am working on brushing the baseboards in that hall now with Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel. I am finding it to be very difficult to work with. It dries out so fast I feel like I have next to no working time whatsoever and I immediately get roping brushing it out. I ended up sanding it all off and tried again moving quicker and with a more liberal coat as I went. It came out even worse as the paint sagged in several spots and the brush strokes remain. I decided I am okay with the brush strokes - not the sagging. So ill be trying again a 3rd time hoping it comes out acceptable. It sucks when you want perfection but you just don't have the skillset to make what you have in your head a reality. Knowing how hard this paint is to work with - again I am impressed at your kitchen and how it turned out.

Nice job. I had those same countertops and I know there are products out there that can make them look like quartz, marble, cement, or whatever. Might be a fun project to try. I was just about to try it, but they were a little beat and the cabinets were shot, so after many years, it was just time to bite the bullet and change them. Would like to see the results if you do.

Well done....First time I have watched your... I like your TONE of voice. It is moderate and calm , and pleasing. Normally I don’t like this type of effect but maybe add a very thin strip of gold gilding within the triangle. That would give it a subtle pop

Very helpful, thanks for sharing. I’m very curious about how you used the roller on all the curved trim. It looked like it went on really smoothly. Did you have to go back and fill in areas with the brush? It turned out great! I will be rolling /brushing my whole kitchen since I’ve never used a sprayer. It sure does look like it saves a ton of time!

The lady who last owned this house left the same buffet here. I wanted to toss it but somehow it holds a lot of our stuff so it’s sort of helpful keeping it! I don’t think I want to paint it - the finish is in good shape - but I want to repolish it.

I read on the back of my chalk paint it doesn't recommend rolling it on. What kind and what thickness roller did you use? It's so much faster with a roller and your finish looks great!
