I did my degree and masters in civil engineering. I worked extremely hard at university. I was in the library 12 hours a day. I achieved my 2:1 grade and I thought I was going to be successful. What happened. I fell into an 8000 pound debt and the architects took all the credit for my work not to mention being mistreated by everybody. My parents tried to push me to become a civil engineer not realising that civil engineers are not respected in the UK even we make sure that no building collapses and British people are safe yet British people belittle me. I now suffer from trauma, have to extra therapy and I'm living in my father's house at age 36. I worked hard at university and this is what I get in return.

Hello people.The idea of studying engineering, maths, medical science, accounting, bcos those are the most in demand and highest paying fields is true.But what pple should understand that there are so many persons who naturally do not have the intellectual capacity to major in those fields.Call it a low IQ or whatever you like ,that is just the sad, bitter truth.If a person is to go in for a STEM degree when that inate ability is lacking , that person could be in for a long , rough ride and that person would have to work ten times harder and still might not be able to graduate .It sucks but that is the truth .What I think is that and the good news is pple can learn a trade , having the practical ability to do something .In my opinion , 90 percent of pple can learn trades like Motor Mechanics, Electrician, plumber, Carpenter , Welder, etc that will always be in demand and that pay quite well.The good thing with a trade is , you do not necessarily have to work for someone , you can work for yourself and still make a decent, good living .Pple should have the entrpeneurial mindset .If you are a teenager in high school , for the love of God , for Jesus Christ sake , if you are not going to study medical science or some other hardcore technical field like engineering , and to a lesser extent accounting and finance, don't do it .

In the UK when I was at university it was very cheap but now it's really expensive and worse as they teach opinion and theory as fact. I'm a bloke and I need evidence which nowadays seems like an insult. I'm sorry you're going through this stuff, there's a lot of us out there.

I dropped out after I got my Associates from Community College I paid of my dabt a few years back and only wound up with middle management with a Security Guard Co. If your parents are paying for it great major in what you want but as you said Accounting, STEM or becoming a Doctor are the only ones worth your investment. Try the trades or Computer Networking/Secuity at the Community College level or truck driving.

Yeah the Jets as an organization were loaded with morons at that time. They signed a QB who gave lame ass excuses for his INTs in the SB by saying the ball slipped out of my hand. The Steelers still made the Playoffs that year despite losing a lot of players from that SB team. Kotite was correct in saying O'Donnell being accurate because he threw more TDs than INTs going into that SB. Also O'Donnell wasn't that bad of back up QB because he played in for Steve McNair when he got hurt and did a decent job.

Only go college if you are becoming doctor, lawyer, heavy science major. Other program is a waste of time. Majority of young adult like gaming or programming, don’t waste your time because majority of the professors don’t even have time to teach you beside telling you information from the PowerPoint or buying a book that you can buy from your local library and read about programming at your own time. Trust me major in computer science isn’t worth it because you will be bored out of your mind and nothing is related to gaming, I had taken multiple class in university of north Florida and it not worth it, I learn to built tic Facebook toe in Java from UA-cam without boring professors reading of slides after slides and telling me to read the book.

i graduated in 2006 from st andrews, and my degree did fuck all for me. i endured years of unemployment due to lack of experience. i graduated as an open minded, educated, optimistic person for the future. just years later, i was jaded, angry, bitter, forgotten everything i studied and my skills eroded so much that even making conversation was exhausting for me. i rang my university and told them what a bunch of cunts they are and how they can fuck off. i feel like setting my degree certificate on fire. i got my first job not because of my degree. i lied on my cv to get it. 15 years later and i have never in my life earned more than £30k in any financial year. i still live with parents. i am pushing 40 and have no family of my own. i spent the past 10 years of my life endlessly applying for jobs only to be rejected and thrown back to the wall. again and again. i am now going through a midlife crisis. i'm in a state of panic and depression. nothing gives me joy anymore. i wish to 'god' if there was one to take me in my sleep so that i can never wake up again. i am much more bitter than i was. at my job i work for people who are younger than me and theres this 21 year old who is earning twice than me and it makes me feel sad and embarassed at myself. its gotten so bad, my family pity me. my dad has disinherited me, meaning that when he dies, his £1million fortune will all go to charity. i'll never see a penny of it. i'll be forever destitute. hes always hurt me but this feels like a big fuck off from the grave. i hate him. i hate my own life and i hate seeing other people happy. i hate people - so much so, if i had the power of god, i'd eradicate the human race from the face of the earth. i now have nothing but pain, hurt, anger and hatred in my heart. i'm 38. i'm supposed to be in the prime years of my life. but i'm not. i been trying to improve myself for years but always fail in getting a better paid job and have to settle for this one. my job is boring and i feel i am wasting my life away commuting, working, sleeping and repeating everyday. i dont know how to meet women or people anymore. In my opinion, if you possess some kind of social anxiety issue or depression, college will be the death of you. As I am learning the hard way now. Do not go to college for the love of God, do something that you want to do.

Here's an idea, skip college. If your really valuable to an employer and they tell you that you need college they'll be willing to help you pay for it. Otherwise you don't need to waste your time and money on a piece of paper when the odds are you won't need it in the first place.

Recently graduated college with a BA in English #classof2020 let me be honest don’t go to college unless you know what you’re planning on doing for the rest of your life. Even having experience will not land you a job. Although I always wanted to be a teacher when I was in the 4th grade (with plans to get certifications and a masters), I wish I was more passionate about something that’s useful and beneficial in terms of gaining employment and happiness. College is a waste of time! You’re only setting yourself up for long-term unemployment and depression. You’ll be lucky to have a part-time job. And I hope the man in the video is doing great in 2020!
