In this video, I talk about building three sliding barn doors that all operate independently-on a single track. I toiled over several ways to build these doors. Another thing is how difficult it was to find any information on ACTUAL barn doors. Majority of videos are for barn doors that are used for interior purposes. So hopefully this video will fill a void for people who need ideas for doors on a REAL BARN.
Initially thinking I was going to go with a standard roll up garage doors. But then then thought I would need to add additional rafters in the barn to hold the tracks as well as have someone install the springs for me (I'm too scared)
Then I thought maybe I could build swinging doors. But I didn't really like the aesthetic of that as well as having to install new exterior posts.
I had always wanted to do the sliding doors but had to think deeply how I would make the 3 doors work and slide independently of one another. I originally thought maybe I would build a 2 rail system until I learned about the bypass rollers that act essentially like a sliding closet door system. This would eliminated the need for the 2nd railing.
I had filmed the actual building of the doors an installation of the railing but I the footage got corrupted when I transferred it to my hard drive. MY APOLOGIES
