@Rocky Mountain Ras - Front chains would have been great! Snow is not a regular occurrence in South Africa. We only have a few weeks of snow in some high lying mountain areas. Matroosberg is one of them. We really enjoy the snow when we get it. Thanks for the like.

Hey Daniel @James Black would be the best person to answer this. I would say it depends how you set them up and the coils you use with them. From my experience its a beautiful ride.

i bridgethegap4u Thanks for the tips. Snow is not a usual thing for us South Africans except in some very high lying areas. We just had fun fun conquering Matroosberg. Will try your suggestion out next time we have decent snow.

4WD BOX, yeah I snow wheel in northern California. I don’t have lockers, just an old 1997 Tacoma that’s 4x4. No lift, all stock. I’ll share another trick. It doesn’t work all the time but it works and can keep you off roading and not digging in the snow. Try this, when you start to get stuck and your know your going to get stuck apply pressure to the breaks as you keep a steady gas pedal. So, the reason for applying your breaks (if you don’t have front lockers) is to put pressure on the wheels that are loosing traction. As you start to get stuck in the snow, one of your tires isn’t moving and three are spinning. When you apply your breaks, the tire that is spinning the most will have break pressure and the tire not moving will start turning. This is a poor mans limited slip, lol. This actually works. Not all the time but more than 50% of the time I get out of slippery situations in snow doing this. I drive stick too, you won’t stall out because your tires are spinning which is why you don’t have to float the cutch. Try it...it will work better than you think.

i bridgethegap4u I’ve never heard that before but makes sense. Will give it a try if I’m ever stuck in a vehicle with no lockers. The FJ has A-track that pretty much does what you have explained. Thanks for the trips!

Hey Jade its called a Ricoh Theta S. GoPro have a similar camera called the GoPro Fusion. Just did some shooting in Botswana with it and I'll post a few of clips soon.

andrew johnston hey mate, thanks for the advice :) as Jordi mentioned, we don't do this every day. Normal video rules do apply for that first right foot flat section. Its really steep! Needed momentum and spinning to get the snow out of the tyres! Also the tyre chains were the only reason we got to where we were. Pewag makes some really great all metal ones.
