In this video, John Marcar tests the new 2024/2025 BMW M135 to see if it still feels as special as the original variant did back in 2012. Written, produced, and ...

Still thinking about those massaging seats!
Great video and a challenging long ride. I’ve owned an identical V4S since April 2022 and it’s the best bike I’ve ever had and it fulfils all my expectations and matched the great reviews it had when launched. I’ve done some long tours down to Southern Europe and haven’t had any saddle sourness. I suggest you try an Airhawk (I’ve used one on early bikes like FJR1300 and it was very effective). The bike is expensive but you appreciate the brilliant engineering, quality equipment and sure fun on every ride. Some say money can’t buy you happiness but I guess they haven’t ridden a V4S😉.
Great insight! Thanks for watching - John
I hate moaning videos. Just enjoy your car or sell it. Never thought I'd support an Ozzie saying "whinging poms". Too true mate.
It's just a bit of fun... 100% free content. But hey, we can't please everyone. Thanks for watching and commenting. - The moaning Pom x
Always loved the golf as I had a few but GTX gets my vote until there is a replacement as the tech is evolving all the time for better efficiency. EV is the future, sorry petrol heads( I was one ), embrace change its good for you.
Just a comment on the US gas pumps. Many are often pre-pay credit card-freindly machines where you pay at the pump. I find this more convenient than having to slog into the store to pay for gas.. I have a V4S and agree with your observations on the windscreen and seat comfort as well. I'm 6'4" at ~93kg.. And yes, the rest of the bike is absolutely fantastic (although the aggressive engine braking took a bit of getting used to on a day of twisties... ).
Is this channel completely stupid? Its a custom!
Nice review, but why are you driving the wrong side of the road? (asking from France).
We like to be different on this side of the channel. :)
The front wheels should also be chromed.
so much needless pauses in between words and those pauses are so god damn long. a minute into the video and im out.
Thanks so much for staying a whole minute and commenting! You're the best.
Borrowing.... talk tooo much...
Thanks for the critical review. @shawbruns8730 mentioned all i wanted to add, besides: yes, get a secure storage, they are highly wanted theft items.
lol when a fat guy with 10 euro quartz watch tells you he would get the copmfy seets for the back because thtats the level of compfort he needs ... bro go dieting for 4 days on water and then never put a wheat product in your mouth you funny story teller
Can they sell in Canada? Especially now with trump tariffs
They love to tell us how big the storage space is but they don't give you a spare wheel or a jack. when did that happen.????
I would like to drive this car more than Tesla model 3.
And now Henry lives in the back of the van, surviving on pastry crumbs, dry tea and entertaining himself with a cricket ball.
Great review! You identified the gulf between old-world Bentley charm and ability and the modern world of the 4WD Flying Spur and the Bentayga. I own a 2011 Mulsanne, having owned 6 other Bentleys and Rolls-Royces including a 2008 Flying Spur. The latter lacked any appeal of charismatic engagement. It drove well, it was well built, but I'd step out of it, and feel underwhelmed. It never left me with the sense of occasion I have every time I drive my Mulsanne. I've driven the Bentayga too. The EWB version is intended to replace the Mulsanne, as the standard SUV doesn't have the same space and feeling of luxury in the rear. I haven't sat in the latest versions of any Bentayga, but I have never found them a patch on the Mulsanne for comfort and luxury experience. I previously owned a Turbo R, and later a Brooklands R and a Le Mans Arnage. The Mulsanne is a worthy final descendant of them all. It's the best car I've owned from these marques. I've also driven, but not owned, all the modern Rolls-Royces. Their finish is possibly slightly better, and their presence slightly more dignified, but only the Ghost really compares as saloon you can drive and be driven in. And it's far dearer than even the expensive Mulsanne was new (and is second-hand). The reaction of people to mine has been universally praiseworthy. Perhaps it's the colour: gazelle (aka gold/bronze). Unlike when I have owned a Rolls-Royce, people are always coming up and making positive comments and asking about it. Perhaps it is because it is so distinctive and rare - and not electric! People's interest includes, of course, its gas-guzzling appetite for fuel. On this point, despite it advanced technology with the ability to close down half the engine's cylinders, it is the worst by a long way of all the cars I've owned. Single figures of 5-7mpg are easily achievable in slow stop-start traffic and enthusiastic driving at lower speeds. In contrast, and where possible, its efficiency improves at 80mph where 22-23mpg is achievable. The real-world consumption as a daily driver is 10-15mpg of Super Unleaded. But as you said, you do not buy them for their environmental credentials. Historically, more old Bentleys and Rolls-Royces are still on the roads than any other make. Longevity must count for some environmental box-ticking. Besides the gorgeous leather and wooden interior, the biggest attraction is how it becomes a calming place to sit inside. Since most motoring in the southeast, where I live, is mostly slow or stopping, I listen to a good book or some music in traffic jams and congestion. Others can zip past, undertake or rush above the legislated speed, but I am happy to sit in my armchair and feel relaxed and proud of quality British heritage. Who ultimately owns Bentley, and how many Audi A8 parts sit inside, do not matter. It is the sum of its parts and its heritage that make these leviathans so incredible.
I loooooooove 😮the inside screen of it ❤❤❤🙏👌👌👌🔥
"following on from the previous MG ZS Hybrid".....What???? Why can't these people get it right and do some research before opening their mouths.
Can't wait for my ID.3 GTX Performance to arive!!!🤩
My favourite is the Arnage 2009 or brooklands but the Mulsanne was a fitting end to the massive 6,75L V8 albeit a bit too much VW than the Arnage and Brooklands/Azure.
Glad I've watched this as I'm looking on getting one, none of the things mentioned seemed to be deal breakers!
Tesla's are garbage. fElon can keep them.
Golf gti mk9. No such things as 8.5.
MG Zs Hybrid, an incomplete product: No front fog light No rear passenger light, no glove box light, no button light No steering wheel depth adjustment. No seat belt adjustment Deafening engine noise from 100 km/h, very intrusive Some reports indicate that once the battery is exhausted, the naturally aspirated engine is insufficient and quite bad. A "cheap" product with deficiencies. We will see it in the coming years.😅😅
Thank you for energetic but futile vidéo. This is the first time I hear the Defender is a van. No rear view mirror of vans, trucks or SUV's as you should call a Defender is used for spotting minion cars so close to the back of them. If you want to see bushes or motor dwarfs at the back of such high vehicles use the rear camera.
people almost have to get truck licence to drive that car....haha
Please can you tell me… just how bad is the road noise when driving on motorway. Some people are saying it’s almost unbearable. How does it compare to say a Toyota Yaris Cross?
Starts review with the car alerting because he likely pressed the brake and accelerator to do his fast pull away, then pulls up and theres more alert noises because he didn’t engage the parking brake, then says that you need to touch the screen for the wipers (you don’t, you just tap the wiper button and use the scroll wheel/ball on the right)… then proceeds to say he’s never driven a Tesla before, but is supremely confident about the problems with the car. If you’re getting that many alerts, and don’t understand how the controls work, I don’t think you can then bag out things that you clearly don’t understand.
I can't believe it. Hopefully our new Pres. Trump can help us stick a fork in the ridiculous ev mandate so we can continue to enjoy these awesome cars!!! Just in case I put my order in today on one of the last allocations....stick of course..:) Great video!!
TWR SUPER LISTER SUPER COPY CAT !!!!!!!!! I just read the motorsport article ! The designer Khyzyl Saleem has obviously got an eye for taking someone else's > the man > ( Laurence Pearce's ) hard work and Genius and an iconic design and completely messing it up, it is so obvious that he has copied all the very best eye catching masculine details of the WP Automotive Lister XJS and then reproportioned them in such a comical awkward clownish way and then filled in the gaps with a lot of unproportional left over 1970's unwanted parts and even further made a complete mess of the remainder of the car!!!!!!!!
If the Golf goes EV there will be no GTI. Maybe the badge will say that but it will mean nothing. Weight will increase by 300kg and handling will go out the window. All EVs drive the same so the differentiation maybe only long-range and shorter range, like a Tesla.
Hang on Hang on!! you jumped to heated steering wheel..... Are you sure?? i don't see the button on the wheel nor the column. Ive been looking for an X7 and the heated steering wheel is the rarest extra EVER! only 7 out of 59 X7 used cars for sale now have a heated steering wheel
Yep, this one (a UK press car - admittedly) had a heated wheel.
I saved a Jaguar as well. Mine is a 2022 F Type R roadster in British Racing Green. 4200 miles.
Ugly as a french bulldog. The Range Rover is the obvious choice.
Met Steve quiet. a few times when I used to take my M3 into Sopers Lincoln years ago. Me working in F1 at the time we used to have a few chats about what was going on in the sport, really nice chap.
I live in the US and have done big miles.I never go on long trips without my AirHawk seat cushion. It adds extra height to straighten the knees and ,because it's inflatable, it's adjustable throughout the day....Great video, I'm looking at one tomorrow
Traded in my 2013 BMW M3 for the 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance (same color combo as the video). While it was a bit of sad day to let go of my M (last V8), the Tesla has been pretty amazing so far (been about a month with it so far). The acceleration, the handling, the sound system, all top notch. Regarding the FSD, haven't had any of the issues noted in the video and so, that's been pretty great as well. Letting it take over in traffic or on my daily commute to work has been one of my favorite aspects of the car. While I like the turn signals being buttons on the wheel, I would have preferred one of each side instead of both on the left. Still takes some getting used to after a few weeks. Have to charge it a bit more than I anticipated, but hasn't been too bad. Supercharger network is extensive in the US (I'm in Miami) and I also have access to one at work for a few hours. I've also come across free charging at few locations already (museums, state park, grocery stores). I'm still on free Supercharging for two more months, but even when that expires, combined with the other options, I think I'll save a ton vs. the $50-60 (usd) I was putting in the M3. Want to wait a few months and see how that goes before considering putting something in at the house. That can be a bit of an initial expense on the install, but then you can set it to charge nightly during off-peak hours.
Tbh I love my haptic wheel on the 22R 😅 within a week everything was second nature and never had an issue with them
i get a m3p delivered in 2 weeks in quicksilver :) its 43500gbp here in norway even with an extra set of wintertires on the warp rims.
My Alice Blue TE21 DHC (LHD) is a delight to drive
My Alice Blue TE21 DHC (LHD) is a delight to drive
The thing with tesla's that no journalist notices because they never actually own one is the lack of maintenace that's required. It is quite normal for a model 3 to reach 100k miles with nothing but new tires and an air filter change. Your average performance car (certainly anything petrol that fast) needs a fair amount of tlc to keep it running nicely - a tesla simply doesn't.
Don't buy Tesla .. service is non-existent ...
None until they go back to making 3 door golfs
They will be worth lots of money soon
Such an amazing machine. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna look for one this year. I'm terribly sad, they stop making this awesome machine.
