Peeling off the tape, gilding OL of Fatima, 27 Aug 2021
Last stages of gilding. I finally figured out how to do it without turning myself into a giant clenched fist of anxiety.

May flowers and herbs on the terrace
Переглядів 15Рік тому
It's just been raining and raining, for nearly six weeks. I made this little video for my family in England. Just the terrace garden and how things are here in Narni. I'm remembering this time last year when our horrible drought hit and through the next two months everything dying. It's very different now.

Beautiful
Merry Christmas! +JMJ+
top class.
Truly wonderful. Please keep making videos. 🌹
Cual paciencia.
Love that!
What was stopping you? Was it the Guinea hens?
Bad brushes. The video was a test of my new Rosemary sables. No way to do that kind of work with cheap synthetics. Or even slightly more expensive synthetics. I was amazed by the difference.
Forgive my ignorance, but are not most icons painted in egg tempera? Is oil also used?
An icon - the word just means "image" - can be created in any medium you can think of. Of course we know about mosaics and fresco. Wood and stone carving is not uncommon. Contemporary iconographers are using any medium, including acrylic, oils, watercolour and "mixed" media. There's a group of "guerilla" iconographers in St. Petersburg doing them on the streets with cans of spray paint as graffiti. For traditional Greek and Russian icons - especially panel icons in churches, that is, liturgical icons, egg tempera is still considered the "gold standard" and when you learn iconography you will be learning egg tempera technique almost every time. But I'm not going to do icons in oils. Just regular painting, as I said in the video.
@@hilarywhite2953 Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed response. You helped clarify my confusion.
It looks like a hive of industry. I hope you have a place of calm too.
Thanks
Interesting!! Looking forward to seeing this
We have had some too, but not nearly enough, but grateful for every drop. More tomorrow apparently.
Thanks for the recent videos. +JMJ+
Thank-you for the videos of your walk! +JMJ+
Fantastic place, Happy New year!
Your home looks wonderful!
It is inspiring Hilary. Wishing all good things for you 🙏🙏 Happy New Year !
Dang, Hilary. Place looks great. It's like you've been in there for years. Great job.
❤️🎄
So lovely!!
It’s lovely, even in December. How blessed you are to live there!
Your camera work is hilarious, I'm feeling seasick! It's lovely there, I so long for the light! (Grey N Shropshire, here!)
it's not camera work, just me waving my phone around
Wonderful! May you spend many happy and fruitful years here. God Bless!
Nice
I didn't get any of the dialogue, which is a shame because it looked so interesting
Does it snow up there? If so it will be beautiful, probably reminiscent of Canada.
It's definitely a familiar world for me to live in the mountains. Yes, I think Narni gets a little snow in the winter. Heck, we got a dusting every February down on the flat near Perugia, so I expect we'll have some here which is 100 meters higher elevation. It doesn't get really cold here though, not like Norcia. Norcia is 640 m above sea level, much higher than us, and gets almost Canadian winters. I'm going to have to sort out getting a license to drive the Ah-pay before the winter starts. And then find out of you can get chains that size.
You lucky lady! That view would be a major distraction for me. But I think you new home is a gem of a place. Congratulations on finding it and on your move.
Lovely
Thank you for this tour of Narni Duomo, and your info. in the description. God Bless xx
Thank you for the tour and history of this wonderful church. Much appreciated.
Glad that the move went well, now for the sorting and settling in. Thank you for sharing your ideas and impressions. What a marvellous view!
Wonderful!
Thank-you for the many videos recently. +JMJ+
Good Feng Shui
Wow, it's so big, lots of room for your painting, and hopefully it will be cooler in summer.
Hi Lynnette, yes. It's generally a more modern and secure place in terms of all that double glazing, functional blinds, a fireplace for the chilly winters, and probably way less damp (and less mould problem) in winter, because it's not an old stone farm house. The space is all but ideal (north facing windows are supposedly the best - at least according to Leonardo da Vinci, who I'm inclined to believe) and a good deal of room for expansion. I'm nervous but hopeful.
@@hilarywhite2953 You must look forward, what a beautiful and inspiring place. I'm really happy you found it, in fact I feel really excited for you. And hopefully your spiritual needs will be met, and really that's the most important thing. I hope the local people are welcoming so that you don't feel isolated, but I have a feeling their curiosity will get the better of them, and you will find a group of people you are happy with. Are all the furnishings going, they look like they were really good quality back in the day, and well cared for. Well, best of luck for your move, I hope Gertie's engine bares up, and happy days ahead for you I am sure. You can create a beautiful prayer corner somewhere in there, you know that quiet secret place...oh yes!
Thanks for the keyhole into your Umbrian Afternoon. It’s rather more spacious than I had previously envisioned, but that’s probably since you had highlighted the porch/backyard garden. I love the surrounding hills. I bet you’ll have quite the view, soon, from high atop. Big transition, coming. God speed.
My section can be seen at the start, on the other side of the lower terrace, starting at the well house. All the rest of it is shared. The farmyard is just general use. The garage belongs to Franco, my neighbour and Annamaria's cousin. The orto we walked through with the olives, fruit and grapes, is Annamaria's personal orto. The farm land around the house on three sides is portioned out to various cousins. This is a family compound, and is in the third generation now.
So beautiful ❤️
Beautiful beginning.
I enjoyed the tour - it was interesting and restful. Thank-you very much. Any more such videos would be appreciated. I currently have two saucers of tomato seeds - plum and salad-type - sitting on the dining room table. They will be planted tomorrow. It's a bit late, but hopefully something will result. +JMJ+
Awww those kitties are so cute
Scicluna not only gives the wrong answer, but the logically worst answer. Way to go, bishops, you're being very good at signaling your submission to the ruling class.
